Bad Betty!

As we mentioned earlier this month, Ugly Betty got bumped from it's Thursday night slot to Friday nights.
And in the TV world, that's bad news as Thursday shows usually get much better ratings.
The season premiere of Ugly Betty this year also set to happen on October 2nd but it got delayed until last Friday the 16th.
So after such a long wait, was Ugly Betty worth it?
Seems not, as the ratings were down and the show kinda bombed.
According to the Nielsen ratings, Betty came in 4th in its timeslot with 5.1 million viewers.
The numbers aren't so bad, unless you consider last season the show averaged 8 million viewers.
So, could this be the last season for Ugly Betty?

No one that watches Ugly Betty is home @ 9pm on a Friday night. I love Betty but I am going to be at dinner/out at that time. Most retarded move I have ever heard of.

Yes, get ready to turn out the lights the party is over. It was great for a season or two but the two hour premier sucked, except perhaps for the story line of the nephew. I don't know if Disney will ever let him be "out of the closet" but they seem to be flirting with the idea. A quirky show like this was bound to have a limited shelf life. Take note Glee.
The episode was ok, I am hopeful for the rest of the season. Why the heck do the friggin networks do this, they take a good show with good ratings and mess with it? Especially ABC they do it all the time I hope its not the last season.
When the networks mess with good tv shows, sand they change them, it makes me not want to watch any new shows on any of the big 3 TV network's and stick to cable. don't the networks realize that there are alternate channels

You should know that ALL prime programs are down on broadcast television. You keep talking about this for various programs but every broadcast net is having the same issues with some of their programs. You keep saying "down" 15% or whatever, when compared to some programs that is a good percentage. In addition, we now live in a 3 screen universe. How many people watched it on DVR, internet at ABC.com, HULU.com or on their mobile phone.
I HOPE THAT AFTER THIS SEASON NO MORE WILL COME, I LIKE AMERICA BUT IIIII HAAATE SHITMA HAYEK.
I totally LOVE Betty!!!!!! The premiere episode maybe wasn't as great as it could have been, but I waited all day Friday to watch it and will do so again!

I LOVE UB, and was really dissapointed it moved to Friday night. Who stays home Friday night to watch TV honestly. Lucky for me I have Rogers On Demand so I can watch it anytime. But I thought this show was supposed to be a comedy, there wasn't a lot of funny moments, maybe 5 at the most..its turned into a drama..did anyone else notice that too?

Ugly Betty is lame - no one watches that show anymore. GET. RID. OF. IT.
It was not good. I decided right then it would be my last show. It just will never be like it was in the first season. The only likable thing is the story of her nephew Justin, and his problems.
Almost everyone on the show is really good looking. The only ugly one is Betty. If they got rid of Betty, more people would watch it.
I think there was a bit of confusion with viewing time in TV Guide it was listed as starting at 9 p.m. and only 1 hour than it turned into a two hour premier starting at 8 p.m. I thought it was a strong start to the season but I was sad to see the show move to Friday.
I was astonished that it was two fucking hours.After the first hour, I was like: "there's MORE?!"

I think that there was confusion on the time and day of the show. I have watched Ugly Betty since season 1 and was confused about the day and time change.
In response to Talia 88. I think you are missing the point of the show. Ugly Betty is not supposed to be a show like Gossip Girl or 90210 where everyone is gorgeous.
Lastly, I certainly hope this isn't UB's last season. It has become one of favorite shows on TV.
I LOVE UGLY BETTY!! And so does everyone here at work, we all watched it on our DVR's over the weekend. I think the show is fantastic! It is funny, it has heart, it is charming…simply put it's my favorite show on TV right now. I'm bummed out ABC isn't supporting it more…I mean…Friday nights?! Give it a better night and help promote it a bit. I hope they renew it for another year!! Yay Betty!
This will for sure be the last season. ABC has no faith in the show(hence the move to Friday nights). I like the show, but let's face it, it has been losing steam the last couple of years. How long can they play on one joke anyway?

I've watched Betty for many seasons and have loved it! The thing is- who is home on a friday night @ 9?! I REALLY hope that they change it back to Thurs.!
In this day and age TiVo it for God's sake. Almost everyone who has cable can do that right? I forgot about it but low and behold my tv didn't and I watched it this weekend when I had time. Love that recording stuff!! No commercials!
i wish i could watch it but i'm horrible with following shows and when new seasons premiere, i stopped watching after the 2nd season

Just a note, to my knowledge, DVR viewing within 24 hours of the original broadcast counts towards Neilson ratings. Wathcing it any later (for a Neilson family, which is supposed to represent the American viewing public) on DVR/Tivo does nothing to help this sinking ship.
So Becki Newton's real life brother Matt will be appearing on the show. He's pretty hot. Maybe that will bring the ratings up. WOOT WOOT!

I SO love this show. One of my faves on tv. I would be so upset if it gets cancelled. I have to say I dvr'd it as we weren't home. I hope they count that in the ratings - or consider online views. It's a real shame they've turned their backs on such a great, well-made show. I refuse to watch whatever is on at 8:00 on ABC on thursdays just cause i'm so very pissed it's not ugly betty. ABC is retarded. hopefully these stupid new 1 hour "dramas" will get the axe before betty and they'll move her back to the land of the living
I loved the 2 hour premiere. The show hasn't lagged at all in my opinion and is still as fresh and less 2 dimensional. New York: Good. Fashion: Good. Vanessa Williams: Good. The sister: Good. Nephew: Good. All's good!

All I ask… If they do cancel it this season & it looks like that's what they're plotting for… FINISH the season! I hate when a show just disappears. Anyway, I don't understand how they expect to get decent ratings on a Friday.

The show was TOTALLY good!!! I'm bummed they gave it such a bad time slot, cuz the writing is totally on top of its game. It's quirky, it's campy, it's gay, and it has HEART….WE LOVE YOU BETTY!!!
THEY COULD HAVE ALL THAT FITTED EASILY WITHIN A 1 HR EPISODE….THE 2 HR PREMIERE FELT LIKE IT DRAGGED ON AND ON….ALSO THEY NEED TO HAVE MORE FUNNY MOMENTS IN THE SHOW LIKE THEY DID THE FIRST SEASON !

Why is Betty still ugly? Doesn't she work in New York with people who could transform her? I don't watch the show, but I think that is a pertinent question.

Who's home on a Friday night? A lot of freaking people are since the economy isn't good right now, not everyone has the money to go out and spend cash they don't have, on crap they don't need! If I'm paying for TV already, why go out and spend MORE money on something TV related like the movies. So yes a lot of people are home on a Friday night now watching TV. Yes, it was a bad time to put the show on, but don't generalize everyone into the category of no one is watching it, when there clearly are people watching it.
I am a huge fan. It is really my favorite show. The stories are uplifting and I laugh and smile at the situations and wonderful characters. I am so tired of reality television. Go Betty!

Nooooo…I LOVE Ugly Betty. Her character is so relate-able. I've had too many health problems to be going out on Friday nights anymore…so I need to stay home and in bed as often as possible, which means I STILL watch Ugly Betty! I think its a great show and I hope they don't cancel it!

I really think Ugly Betty is going to be okay. The viewers that watch are pretty loyal…. The premiere was kind of boring, but I am pretty sure Betty might get its time slot back when Dancing with the Stars closes in a couple of week. That show is a time slot hog. Flashforward took Betty's spot….pretty sure they will move it to a different time.
