Wow. We are shocked and saddened at what a dud RiRi's new song is!
We LOVE Rihanna, but we are very disappointed. Sure, she didn't write or produce the song. That blame goes to NeYo.
But RiRi did approve of this and (along with her label) chose it as her first single.
What was she thinking?????????
Russian Roulette sounds like a song Beyonce would have passed on because it's not good enough. This would have been a B-side on Rihanna's last album!
It's not a bad song, but it's definitely mediocre. And it's definitely not a first single on one of the most anticipated songs of the year!
The song and production are both seriously lacking!

You know, I didn't like this song when I first listened to it. Then I kept coming back every few hours to try it again. I confess, it's growing on me, however it's darker then what we are used to from Rihanna, BUT this is what she is going for. Writing and singing Music is therapy for artists so I am not surprised she went this way considering what happened with her and Chris. All the more power to her. She is going to emerge all from this in the end a mega SUPERSTAR.
not surprised. Good Girl Gone Bad was the only album of Rihanna that was not 90% filler. I suppose she just lucked out with that one.
sad to see she learned nothing form the success of that album.

I really like this song. A lot. I hope they overplay it on the radio. It's very deep and emotional. I don't know what people don't get about it?

Let the girl cope in whatever way comes to her naturally. If you do any sort of research on physical abuse victims you will see that each one copes in their own way…Some blossom and try to act as if nothing happened and shower people with kindness and good nature, others become introverted and withdrawn and depressed, others hide it and keep going back for abuse and some act out. Others do drugs. Others write music that lets the world know how they feel, in a way releasing some pain that is probably there every day. I say let her hope how she wants to and quit having EXPECTATIONS!

It's slow and boring
i love it. her voice has really improved. it seems like she has more control. we're so used to the club songs, that sometimes we do need to mellow out, and i think this song came at a good time. i love it.
Almost as lame as her Glow in the Dark performance. Wish I could get that half hour of my life back. She's just as overrated as Jay Z and she's no fashion icon. I'm tired of everyone feeling sorry for her and acting like she's better than she is. Plus she was a total bitch to her fans when she was in my city last yr. She can mama lo suave!

This song is genius. I quite like it. With the exception of Gaga, his musical tastes are out of touch with our generation. The 20-somethings, the teens. He wanted a song that alluded to that "incident," that is exactly what he got, and now he hates it. Like his favorite artist, this song is about shock value. It was not expected. It is not Good Girl. This song is heavy. Very, very heavy. It is Act IV in a constant reinvention. But it must not be specific enough for he, or the haters. And, of course, he's going to love the second single - which is likely to be up tempo, a banger. In any case… at the time this was written, 60% voted "Yes." Majority rules. The people have spoken. She really is going too far about that dominatrix look, like she's trying too hard to have a strong women look after the bad thing with that ex-boyfriend who hit her. Well, about the song: sad, like she wanted a dramatic powerful balad with a big heartbreak kind of already gone from Kelly, but RiRi just make it depressing. bu bu.
Give this song another listen. I feel this is Rihanna's best ballad to date. I would even go as far as to say that this is my favourite Rihanna song! I like her, but I certainly wouldn't consider myself a mega-fan by any means. This song emotes power and feeling in a way that she has not done before. Vocally, it is easily one of her strongest performances ever. None of us were expecting this song to be a first single. (Something more along the lines of "Umbrella" or "Don't Stop The Music" would've been better expected.) 12 years ago, Madonna released "Frozen" as the debut single from the most critically acclaimed album of her career, and no one can say they were expecting a song like that from her at the same time. Hopefully, this artistically driven choice of song by Rihanna will lead to an album that shows both growth, as well as the great dance tracks we've come to expect from her.

I think its a great song, great vocals was actually quite shocked. Not so sure about using it as the lead single though, but overall its an awesome song. I will most definitely go buy it.

I like it. It describes what women who are in violent relationships feel. They feel like they are playing russian rullette with their lives, yet they can't leave. It made me feel really sad not only for Rihanna but for every woman out there that feels that she can't get out of a violent relationship. I hope this song encourages them to get out while they can, before it's too late and they actually end up losing their life.
