Rock Of Ages Musical Gets The Film Treatment!

One of the best shows on Broadway for AWHILE, Rock Of Ages, is making it's way to the big screen.
We normally wouldn't stand behind such a transition, except we've now learned that none other than Hairspray genius Adam Shankman will be at the helm of the film as the director and choreographer.
Can't ask for better than that!
New Line films is looking to start shooting next summer with a 2011 release with Warner Bros.
We're excited!

Not all musicals made into films are successes, this one may well be. It was well Tony nominated but not awarded in what was a very unoriginal musical season. No original songs in the soundtrack does not a musical make (even Mamma Mia, though at least that celebrated one group's music). Broadway is going through a very unoriginal time these days.

As long as they don't use that skanky loser from American Idol that's playing in the broadway show….he's disgusting!

Oh, USE CONSTANTINOPLE! That guy does deserve a break. He put himself through college. He had family health dramas all through Idol and he didn't even mention/milk it. He's taken hits on The Soup. He's part of the reason this show didn't totally fail! (heck, I didn't even like him on A.I.)

i would rather see next to normal on the big screen, or In the Heights.
They better keep original cast! Except maybe Amy. Her understudy kicked ass when I saw it. Mitchell Jarvis BETTER be Lonny though!

I can't wait! Rock of Ages was the most fun I've ever had at a show and I think the movie will be brilliant! And I don't wanna hear people give Constantine crap. I didn't even love him on Idol but he's fantastic in this role and sings his ass off. And I agree with the original cast thing! Savannah Wise was unbelievable. Yeah and if Mitch Jarvis isn't in the movie, I won't watch it…hahaha
