Roman Polanksi Denied Bail, Staying In Swiss Prison!

After taking into consideration his last three decades as a fugitive, Switerland's top criminal court rejected Roman Polanski's plea to be released from prison.
"The appellant has already once in 1978 eluded American criminal proceedings by traveling to Europe," read the 17-page Court verdict, adding that the director's extradition to the States could result in trauma to his family and cost investors in his current film projects millions. "As a result, the motivation to flee is high."
Polanski is expected to appeal the decision within the next 10 days. According to his lawyers, this decision to keep him incarcerated could have damaging consequences for his film The Ghost, thus leaving his family bankrupt.
Riiiiight.
The famed director was accused of luring an underage girl with champagne and a Quaalude sedative during a modeling shoot in 1977 and raping her. For a man who was initially indicted on six felony counts, including rape by use of drugs, child molesting and sodomy, the least he can do is sit still for a while!

As the victim of a rape (when I was 14) I could agree that she wants it to be over. Can you imagine what her life must have been like? "Oh you are the girl that Polanski raped…how does it feel that he got away and is making millions in another country." She probably heard comments like that a million times since he fled.
He is a criminal who drugged, raped, and sodomized a 13 year old girl. 13 is not the age of consent. Without a doubt he should have done time. Instead, he fled like a coward and lived a life of luxury.

Another point is, if he is guilty the mother of the then-13 year old child should be held as an accomplice because it was the mother that offered the child up to him in the first place. Dina Lohan missed that boat by about 15 years I guess.

Perez, I don't care if you are sitting on the front of the leading edge of every minute detail of gossip. You are always on the leading edge talking about what really matters. Keeping it simple is all we need. Obviously, people don't really get it when something this heinous is debatable.
What about all of those other Celeb Directors and Actors on "The Support Polanski List"? I know you don't want to cut your nose off to spite your face. So I'll say it. Just wondering why I would want to get excited about any of their movies if they want to support this kind of behavior. I want them all to share why they would support this in front of their own 13 year old children. Parents wonder why they suffer the teen transition? I went to a PAVE event in LA about a week and a half ago. We stood outside the Chinese Theatre and spoke to people about this issue. It's about so much more than this particular case. Ideas being espoused like "it wasn't rape rape" and his hollywood cronies coming out in his defence are what is so wrong. it further drives home ideas like "well maybe she wanted it". 60% of women will be sexually assaulted in some way over the course of their lives and the percentage that will come forward is small in comparison. the attitudes of the world when it comes to sexual assault lead to shame and lack of women who come forward. We should be disgusted that in the 21st century such social mores are still so very very much a part of the world.

Re: gmstarshine – That documentary was created by Roman's movie friends-it was one-sided, they made up shit about a long-dead judge who can't defend himself-and the D.A. who appeared in the film NOW admits that he LIEd about the judge. So much for this 'documentary' that supposedly helps Polanski hide the fact that he drugged, plied with alcohol, raped, and sodomized a 13 year old CHILD.
