Dancing With The Stars Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson

The dancing was cool, the music was disappointing, and kudos to La Toya Jackson for remaining mainly coherent during her intro.

      Michael was a great artist. His music will live on. But honestly, all these media outlets need to shut the fuck up already about him, his money grubbing family, and his so called 15 min famewhore "friends". ENOUGH. the man is dead…move the fuck on!

      "The father of dance and choreography" may be taking things a little too far but legend of modern dance, yes. It was a great dance tribute (but not the hour you originally reported, Perez), but whoever withheld the use of his songs (likely lawyers) was wrong for doing that. It would have elevated the tribute even more. The point is that he danced that well and sang that well, at the same time, which many of today's artists just are not capable of.

      it sucked no one has done a proper goodbye to the biggest entertainer of all time. the thrilleresque dance was ok. I want to see more. Michael should have planned his goodbye no one can or will do it better.

      It was cool. The dancing was good. But 1) Why didn't they play his music with him ACTUALLY singing it, why would anyone else even attempt to sing Thriller? No one can do it like Michael. 2) There have been ALOT of tributes but I think the best one was the whole VMA show, people need to stop doing them unless their gonna do them 100%

      it wasn't even MJ singing the songs! what the heck was up with that? and why was LaToya the one sibling there? No one even knows about her except for her name!

      1. The "tribute" was nice, but it could have been better. 2. I really didn't see the tribute side of it because the only Michael Jackson dance they did was "Thriller" (not including the crotch grab from "Bad") and 3. They could have chose better MJ music.

At first I thought that his voice sounded different because of the way the speakers were projecting the music, but now that you mentioned it I just realized it!

      I think LaToya did a good job. I just didn't like that it wasn't Michael singing. If you listen closely to the guy sing I want you back he messes up the first verse. He sings "those pretty faces always see you stand out in a crowd" when it's those pretty faces always made you stand out in a crowd. I don't know that just annoyed me. They might of messed up more I have to watch it again.

      The DWTS singers are horrible. Why don't they just use the original songs or find people who can actually sing.

      Actually I think he might have messed up on thriller also. When the part "You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it" it sounds like hes saying something else, but I'm not too sure. And hes supposed to say "You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes" not "But horror looks you right between the eyes" I don't even know what hes saying after that. I sound like such a loser for realizing those mistakes.

      The music was dissapointing??? WTF? Aside from Thriller (my first tape) How can anyone listen to the words of "Man in the Mirror" and not be moved at all?

      Geesh!So many bad comments!People, this was probably put together quickly & so the dancers get an A++ in my book for that.Besides, how many of you can dance like that ever?BTW, you didn't actually hear Michael's voice b/c his lawyers refused to let them do so. As for why they did not (with the exception of Thriller) use his ACTUAL moves 4 every song is b/c it was a tribute Remember when they mentioned almost every modern dancer was, key word here, "influenced" by MJ? Tributes usually consist of combos (Yes, I am a dancer) of the various styles of the original.This was a great tribute, & personally and professionally, the dancing was amazing.The "Man in the Mirror" tribute was beautiful- any dancer could interpret what the moves ment for you (Chaos, love, clinging to each other).I could go on but I'm probably already going to get nasty feedback from people who have absolutely no idea how difficult these dance steps/costume changes were. These dancers busted their *sses & they only had so much time to use Michael's music. You may not like the music selection (I again encourage you to really listen to the words to "man in the mirror")or you may love it. Everone has a different favorite and every dancer has a different move/moves, rythm, etc. I can tell you honestly, these dancers were some of the most synched I've ever seen, particularly for something probably choreographed very quickly. Just enjoy it.

      I wished they would have played MJ's actual songs instead of the "house band" trying to pull that off, it really brought down the entire performance.

      Re: rlemieux – how do you know it choreographed quickly, someon eprobably taught it to them and most likely didn't just learn it in a week like you probably think so.
      It wasn't a good tribute it was more like dancing with a couple of his moves, not just talking about iconic ones, and a cover of his song playing while they did ballroom dancing…

      I loved it, the fact that Mike wasn't singing was just disapointing though.

      What most people failed to realize is that this is DWTS. They didn't copy every one of his moves, because they were showing his dancing influence in the ballroom dancing style. Yes, all these professional dancers know how to dance in many different dance styles, but they were incorporating MJ's style into the theme of the show as well. These are ballroom dancers, not pop dancers.

      As for the music - the music selection was fantastic, but probably sung by the DWTS singers because of legal reasons. I'm sure they weren't able to get permission from the big wigs who are handling MJ's estate to use the actual songs, because they probably wanted an arm and a leg for DWTS to use them. Fuckers! But considering, I thought they did pretty damn good. Though, of course, anyone who sings these songs is going to be sucky compared to MJ's voice. Give credit where credit is due, people.

      I know right? Why the hell would you have the band/singers play his songs? Part of the tribute is that they would PLAY HIS ACTUAL VOICE from the RECORDING! I personally didn't like it. The only redeeming part of it was the REAL Thriller dance at the end. To me, it was a decent ATTEMPT, nothing more.

      The "Thriller" part was my favorite. It was a good routine, but did the show forget that he died 4 months ago? A little late I think haha. Aaaaaaaaand the DWTS singers always butcher the songs they sing lol
