Jennifer Hudson To Star In Mandela Biopic?

Jennifer Hudson is a busy gal with her music and film careers not to mention she's a new mom!

But the Academy Award-winning actress is now in talks to portray the lead role in a biopic about South African leader Winnie Mandela.

Derek Luke or Idris Elba may be tapped to play husband Nelson Mandela, but nothing is confirmed as of right now.

Winnie Mandela is a controversial political figure who has long since been divorced from Nelson Mandela and eventually found her way into some legal troubles and on the receiving end of some sharp criticism from her native South Africa.

Sounds intense!

Could it be another Oscar for J-Hud?!

I'm sorry she was a fluke in dream girls and I don't think she has the acting prowess for anything else. Everything else she is in she has that same wide-eyed look like this is my acting face, sort of like Jeniifer lopez for me.

Hm, that's an interesting choice. Winnie WAS very controversial. She even split off from the ANC for a while and formed her own group. It would be a perfect opportunity to knock some holes in the myth of the idealized South Africa. Mandela left it in a mess and Mbeki was insane. We'll see.

Her Dream Girls oscar win was no fluke. She owned that movie and outshined seasoned veterans like Jamie Fox. She definitely needs to take part in the Mandela biopic. I hope its more than a rumor. That movie is going to be amazing! I can totally envision it.

Piss off to all the JHud haters. She is a star and certainly can do this role. Definately see another Oscar nomination for her… however, I don't see a lead Actress win until she does the Aretha Franklin Bio-pic.

I agree with you. Unlike Beyonce, she stole the moment in "Dream Girls" and 'wow-ed' the fans. I think she was definitely meant for this role. She's a great singer, and actress. Hudson is indeed a NATURAL!
