Spider-Man Is "Still A $45 Million Mess"

But the show must go on?
Apparently so as an insider said that the Julie Taymor-directed Spider-Man Broadway show is definitely happening despite being "a $45 million mess" because "it's too good not to."
Is it though?
Investors are supposedly swooping in to save the musical from its debt and now the show is just waiting for the money so they can get started.
You know, because they've already run out of money!
The show, featuring music from U2, is set to begin in 5 months so the investors better get crackin'!
We still think this sounds like a huge mistake. And if the financial woes don't convince you of that, just remember that Evan Rachel Whore is playing the lead female role!
BARF!

Evan Rachel Wood was great in True Blood. May be time to rethink that one. *shrug*
People are dying for something new. It will do OK….
Evan Rachel Wood was awesome in 'Across the Universe'. Maybe you should rent it. It's a musical based on the music of the Beatles.
Don't know why you dislike her so much. She was great on True Blood.
What did Evan Rachel Wood ever do to you? Do you just hate people forever for no reason?
ERW isn't so bad, sure she either has weird taste in men (Marilyn Manson) or is rumored to be with the hunky ones (ASkars) but that doesn't mean she doesn't have talent. She can sing and she can act. And she's also very pretty.
Plus, for those haters who disliked the ASkars rumors, keeping her on broadway in NYC keeps her away from him in LA… though I think she completley rocked as Sophie Anne in True Blood.
Not everyone hates Evan Rachel Wood, Perez.
You are the only one who hates ERW Perez and that's because of your friendship with that Dita stripper. Evan Rachel wood is an excellent actress and a good singer, she has something you and Dita von tesse (the real whore) don't have, TALENT. That's reason enough to go see this thing. I will, it does sound promising, and with ERW on the lead, even more so.
Spider Man even as a comic book was always a grade B concept. Julie Taymor & her husband could have made a masterpiece out of Across The Universe but tho the film had some great moments it was not what people had hoped it would be. I predict Spider Man will be Broadway's biggest flop, unless they change the character to Bernie MadeOff. And Bloomberg can be his lover! Oh and if Taymor's husband does the music I hope he writes something original. Last time he put his name all over the Beatles compositions. Don't know how he got away without anybody noticing? Just saying, ya know?
