No longer are the The Beatles making teenage girls cry, so video game companies are the newest ones to shed a tear!
Because even the Fab Five can't boost lowly video game sales!
The Beatles: Rock Band only sold 595,000 copies last month! Not too shabby, but the game was expected to sell over a million units.
"The Beatles performed at a respectable level," says analyst Jesse Divnich of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research. "I have no doubts we will see a resurgence in sales during the holiday months."
At least that's what they hope for!
The title did beat out the competing Guitar Hero 5, but it's no Halo 3, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies.

i love the beatles and would love to own this. however, i don't already own a ps3 or xbox 360 and i'm not about to shell out the money for one of those systems and then another $250 for the game. if they made it compatible for ps2 i'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Why isn't it selling what they expected? Because it's TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE!!! $250 for the Beatles Rock Band package, and that doesn't even include a guitar! The Beatles Rock Band Rickenbacker guitar is sold separately for almost $100!!! The Beatles are one of my all time favorite bands, but I can't afford to spend that in this shitty economy! :-p

The economy is horrible and the lowest price point for this game was $60. Rock Band is targeted towards younger people who generally don't have money, especially right now. Plus, if you already have GH/RB, you don't need to buy it. I'm an avid Beatles fan. I have GH World Tour so I rented the Beatles RB, played it all the way through, and then returned it to the store.
I could've had the game for my birthday. Instead I opted for the complete set of Beatles remasters. As a fan of their music, that was a million times better.

they didn't market very well because unlike every other rockband this one wasn't publicized and i didnt see a commercial or add for it.. therefore i had no idea it was coming out.

I bought the game too and honestly as much as I like it- it cost too much money for what it was. By word of mouth, I wouldn't recommend the game to other people, ’cause it's just too short. It's something you can rent and beat in one day, why pay upwards of 60 dollars to about 3 hours worth of game play?

Wow! A lot of hate on this board for fans of a band who's whole message was peace and love! I love The Beatles (and by the way there were 4) and I bought the special edition game which was 250 dollars. I play it everyday and just yesterday I bought the Abbey Road downloadable content! I'm not a nerd either. But that's beside the point. I also bought all of the newly released remastered CD's at 15 to 20 bucks a pop. And I bought all of the special new release guitars for the game. As it stands, just this month I've spent over 1,000 dollars on The Beatles THIS month. I'm lucky to be fortunate enough to do that. But I know plenty of people who love the game (who have played it with me) or who love The Beatles but who can't afford to spend 150 dollars or more on a game right now. Get with it! We're in a recession here! The Beatles are still popular, still relevant, and still doing great! And that's more than you'll be able to say about Lady Gaga in 40 years.

Hmm. Should have created a Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osborne Guitar Hero but really: Guitar Hero shouldn't be dedicated to a single group. The Beatles don't have the "power" that they use to have especially now that folks understand that the Beatles are more a corporate entity than a real music group. The Beatles had their time and place in history.
Wish Guitar Hero would create a Challenge Version using the guitar gods riffs like Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, or Eddie Van Halen. Make those video nerds work those buttons towards carpel tunnel.

2- I went to a rock band beatles party to try it out and it sucked, I'm sorry but if you are a hard core HG/RB fan, you will not like this game, it's toooooooo easy
3- I think that if they would of made more money if a ps2 version of the game came out, I don't own a xbox 360 or ps3 and I don't have any intentions on spending 300-500$ on a system. I rather keep my old ps2 and buy either used GH/RB or new but at a cheaper price
