Dennis Quaid Escapes DUI!

Lucky guy!
While leaving Phillippe restaurant in West Hollywood yesterday, a tipsy Dennis Quaid got behind the wheel along with his wife Kimberly. After moving the car mere inches, a police officer pulled up suggesting that he and his wife opt for alternate transportation.
Dennis apparently explained that he didn't want to drive and the cop said "get out of the car" continuously until the Quaids went back in to the restaurant to presumably call the cab that eventually picked them up.
The paparazzi joked with Quaid saying "You don't want a DUI. You don't want to end up like Mel Gibson!"
No, Dennis, you certainly do NOT!
Nice to see celebrities making wise choices after a night out…even if it's only after the law urged them to do so. Baby steps!

He didn't make a wise choice. The officer told him to get out of the car, otherwise he would have driven off into the night. When will adults stop going out and getting shitfaced and start being responsible? Also, doesn't he have small children at home who would like to have their parents get home in one piece.

I am totally happy there was one less drunk driver on the road don't get me wrong.
This is a very personal issue to me which I won't go into why here. I do wonder if he were not a celeb, would the cop have observed him, let him drive a little and then got him for the DUI. I would like to think that "break" would be afforded to all of us.
What an idiot… They should have just given him the DUI… Driving under the influence is just dumb and a danger to everyone else on the road. Celebrities especially shouldn't do it - they have the cash for a cab or a driver. Loser

Stars get special treatment as usual. Sitting in the drivers seat with your key on you is a DUI. Having the car running is certainly a DUI. I love this guy, but everyone knows, you or i would have gone right to jail, do not pass go.

Why so mild, Perez? He made the WRONG choice by gettin drunk, then he made the WRONG choice by getting into his car. Had it not been for the cops and the paparazzi's there - sure quaid was aware of the PR disaster - he could have been driving drunk and kill innocent people.
And THIS is a guy I felt sorry for when that thing happened to his twins. He is no better than that hospital!! I loath this as* now.
Oh, and wasnt he a severe addict to god knows what in the late eighties? He didn't learn from that? He doesn't give a sh*t about his three kids? Such a nice example for his twins and 17 year old son!

he did not like Cedars almost killing his babies what made him think it was ok to get behind the wheel after drinking and potentially killing someone elses loved ones????
the difference being Cedars was a mistake death and injury from a DUI case is a choice.
I've worked too many hours in the ER seeing "I only had a couple, but I'm ok to drive" folks ruin other families lives.
