It's only been six weeks since the passing of the beloved actor and dancer Patrick Swayze. And though we are sure his wife, Lisa Niemi, is still grieving, she has decided to do something very special to help others like herself.

Lisa is slated to appear at the Women's Conference in Long Beach, CA, next Tuesday to participate in a round-table discussion on Grief, Healing and Resilience.

She will be joined on the panel by Elizabeth Edwards and Susan St. James, both of whom suffered the loss of children in accidents and host Maria Shriver, who just this past summer lost her mother Eunice Shriver and uncle Ted Kennedy.

We're sure it will be an emotional yet uplifting event for all.

Can't think of anything to say except that this is a positive thing. Grief support can make a lot of difference.

bleah. Maria who "lost" her uncle and mother; Lisa who "lost" her husband. Elizabeth Edwards who "lost" her son. Oh, and Patrick "passed" — he didn't pass, he died. Organisms die. Salamander, lemur, whale or sick insect, it's DEATH. you don't say a crane fly "passed." You don't say "I lost that spider by the door." LOL!!! Euphemisms are so stupid. And these celebrities act as though they have a special corner on grief and so-called resilience. Everyone on the planet over the age of 10, with few exceptions, knows death.

I wish I could have seen Swayze nude before he DIED…

Re: MP – i lost my son .. how can i get some grief support.. do i have to be rich or well known? i am poor and recieved nothing but tried very hard to get counceling.. you can't get any quality care if you are poor.. death is as painful for me as it is for you. no matter how much money you have, pain is pain. and i am sorry for the loss of patrick.. i loved him and own his movies, and will watch them until the day i die,

Re: Jeremy1212 – Jeremy1212, see if your local health department has any mental health services available to town residents. The only other thing I would suggest is to look for a support group, as I don't think they charge a fee for participation.

even tho she knew the outcome, it must be a horrific experience. this woman has publicly handled the situation with such grace. a good distraction and purpose for her right now. what a wonderful lady. yes, uplifting, and devestating at the same time. well said, peee
