Vertical Horizon Is Back!

Did you miss them? Do you even know who they are?
After a five year hiatus, a popular 90s band is back on the horizon.
Vertical Horizon found semi-success with the song Everything You Want and could have gotten a lot bigger, but a dispute with their record label found the band parting ways.
Now, founding members Matt Scannell and Keith Kane, have brought in two new members, Sean Hurley and Ron Lavella, and have released a new CD, Burning the Days, on their own label.
We haven't heard anything from it yet, but with the rising of other former 90s bands, like Third Eyed Blind and other more recent rock bands taking off, like Daughtry, maybe there is a place on the radio for them again.
Any of U listen to their stuff?

Another generic 'alternative' band… ugh… Gin Blossoms… Dishwalla…
go. away.
I love Vertical Horizon…they are nothing like the Gin Blossoms or Dishwalla. Don't base them on "Everything You Want." Their older stuff it much better!
I loved Vertical Horizon back in high school! I even got a personalized note from Matt Scannell..
I'm excited to hear their new stuff!
I love them! That is really exciting that they are back!
Yeah! They used to be my favorite band! Glad they're back..
AHH! They were amazing. Those songs were the score to my High School drama! Glad to see they're back.
They are touring now with a few great artists. I think they have dates all around the nation!
Totally love Vertical Horizon. They are on tour right now and put on a seriously rockin show in NYC yesterday. New album is on the top of my "new music" list.
I saw Vertical Horizon play last night at the Hiro Ballroom in Manhattan and THEY WERE ON FIRE!!! Matt Scannell is as hot as pot of rice. He can sing and play guitar like no one and his teeth are so white and shiny that I wanted to jump on stage and kiss him! Jason Sutter is world class on the drums and his solo was OFF THE HOOK! Cory McCormick has stepped in as bass player and really stepped up their game. He has so much energy on stage that you can't help but smile! Keith Kane is a lovely as ever and he and Matt seem to really enjoy playing together…the old acoustic tunes of their roots and they new stuff too. The new record, "Burning the Days" is much deeper and richer than previous works, and it is also really fun too. NOTHING compares to seeing Vertical play live so if you can, race to see them in the next few weeks as the tour along the East Coast. I might be there too…screaming like a teenager and trying to catch Matt's eye. MEOW!!!!!
Yay I love them I'm thrilled they ar back.
I miss the 90's. I will forever be a grunge kid!!! There will never be another time where bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc ruled the air waves… now its a bunch of emo and pop crap.
Everything You Want video worst ever. Who the hell came up with that idea. Videos make careers, that one killed it.
They must be running out of money
UGH, they're terrible. Bad mall rock.
Any real news today?
yea, i loved them, and i will test out their new stuff. fyi, sean hurley was in the band before!
I love them.
They are ok. I like that song and another song they had out right after everything you want but I forgot the name of it.
I'd pay to see them on fire.
Ok, didn't mean that… lol.
There is nothing generic about Vertical Horizon, listen to the songs and the lyrics of every other song before you judge them solely on "Everything You Want". Matt Scannells song writing is incomparable, if you can't relate to the majority of what he has to say then you must be a person with no feeling. Their c.d.'s have a mostly mellow feel to them, perfect for sitting back with a good drink and just chilling or taking a drive after a bad fight to calm down….but their concerts are anything but mellow. The entire band has such an amazing energy on stage, even non-V.H. fans can't help but get into it. I've seen it happen, trust me. Also, while it is true that the entire band has had it's issues and we haven't heard anything from them as a whole in too many years, may I remind you that Matt and Kieth, who are in most fans opinions the staples of the band anyway, were not absent from the music scene. Matt was busy collaborating on songs with other writers and musicians and touring both solely and with Richard Marx for the Duo tour. (ok, I'm more of a Matt fan, not too sure what Kieth was up to….) Before you diss a band, maybe you should actually give them a chance! I'm ecstatic that they are back and wish them well!
I'm so excited about this!! I was sad when they broke up.
They all look seriously constipated in that picture.
That song, Everything You Want is my fav though.
I went to college with these guys! So glad they are back. Pick up some of their older stuff (pre Everything You Want). You will not be disappointed!
My friends and i saw them in Boston this past Monday and the show was amazing!!!!!
Was never a huge fan of them, but just saw 3EB and they were AMAZING!!!!!!! They are back better than ever. Their new stuff is great.
I LOVE vertical horizon, check out their old stuff, its amazing. BUT Sean Hurley is NOT a new member, he was my favorite one in high school!!!
Can't wait…love them!
I mean, come on now, they actually sing and play instruments? They are ok I guess, but never will be as good as Slimmmmy.
*throws up*
my orthodontist in middle school had a signed copy of their poster in the waiting room. supposedly he had worked on the lead singer's teeth and he sent the doctor a copy for his many thanks for straight teeth. kind of weird, but good band.
I love them! I have all of their cds. Can't wait to hear more
I was mos def a fan back in the day!!
Vertical Horizon's new music is as wonderful and magical as anything out there today. VH has NOT lost anything with time, only gotten better. I have seen them several times and that Matt Scannell is one talented man. It is true that they really do rock at live shows. Burning the days is beyond Grammy worthy. There is so much out there in music land that I fear VH gets lost in that sometimes. You need to listen to the new CD. The songs are beyond anything they have done so far. This music is timless.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE VERTICAL HORIZON. They had several HUGE hits. Remember their video You're A God with Tiffani Amber Thiessen?! FUN and FIERCE!
Re: Doomed –
shut the fuck up. Vertical Horizon was nothing like the Gin Blossoms you moron. Listen to the whole CD asshat
Matt Scannell is a smokin hot heroin chic bald sleek sexomatic guitar God.
YES! I LOVE THE 90s!
I actually saw Matt Scannell at a concert last Friday with Richard Marx in the suburbs of Chicago and his voice is AMAZING. It was an acoustic concert which made it that much better.
Him and Richard Marx actually have a duo album on itunes.
i caught a glance sometime in july. i was well trained of course but in that second, yes eyes. the dumb unemotional rock had no time to feel just thought you still hated him as he exchanged what he thought were just pleasantries with a friend being proper. trying to get out of it so that you could breathe again. how unfortunate for these girls i thought what bad luck for them that it had to be me there. in his head was respect and unemotion with a goal of being short so they'd get away for their sake safe. he thought he did it well till he gave a tell. fuck i thought later on. now she may know that i'm still…thing i was used to being control of every movement of my body for what seemeds like 8 months, till i discovred there's a delay of 3 1/2 minutes to get sunk. that was real, i don't know if you saw it. wounds? since then and it took me a while because you get bitten you need to be certain you are not overthinking it and you have to respect someones
i liked their music…but then again i liked linkin park too but their new stuff suckss
theyre great, i like their sound
rockin' comeback!
space, understand i'm beyond wounding you again. that doesn't mean that i want anything and that doesn't mean that i don't, it doesn't mean anything beyond what it means. after you see as many beautiful things as i've seen recently, any hint at possesion doesn't matter. only beauty and care, a care that turned Completely unselfish. so that is care, me being overly careful with my ear to the ground. i had to consider "what if i was overthinking it, what if you only knew a bit and not all. i coudn't risk that'd i'd disturb you. like even 3rd times a charm could mean it was simply just a charm. i messed up hard when i did, you know that so i couldn't and am still not sure. i am sure that i'm not a god but i am sure that you are, you did all this. i was a pro at hiding carrying on with my chores and then that whatever day of july came. I don't know why but after that i immediately started acting in a saintly way far beyond what i could have imagined and it came with out effort, came on quite gently in fact. i'd call it just the easiest coolest breeze ever gifted to me from the ocean. and from then on only more crazy stuff started happening. I know you remember how i liked taoism, i followed the waters flow without knowing it most of my life and here it has brought me to the most beautiful place in the world. i'd die today luckiest dude in the world unlike my fave inspiring cautionary tale, that of the death ivan ilyich.
luckily for me…i'm so ambitious that hell no. look this is me be being hard headed i know this is a public forum, wow, i still won't risk bothering you if i'm completely wrong about all this. Its funny how i'd sense you, like one or two times and i could never be sure if it was you but so i just acted out what i thought would the right role. i don't know what now. do whats right for you. you know what you have here and i'm proud that you finally listened to what i said and noticed i wasn't lying when i said the things i did. sorry it took so long for me to be fed, i hope you can understand that i had to protect the thing i loved the most. what you have here is in fact someone who wants you to be happy in any way you choose to find it. wow what a life cheers
Big Budget…..Shirts all from Target.
Since when is having a Double Platinum record called "semi-success?" Any band that has been around for 15 years isn't "semi-succesful'. Check your facts! I saw them play in MD last night and they blew my mind!! They have incredible range and can play mellow acoustic stuff and SERIOUS hard guitar rock too. I had no idea! And how about posting a NEW photo of the band. This photo must be really old because two of those guys aren't in the band. And yes, Matt Scannell is certainly delicious. Go to www.verticalhorizon.com to see what I am talking about.
Get your facts straight Perez. First of all, you don't even have the names straight. Sean Hurley was in the band, and is not a new member. 'Everything You Want' was the biggest Billboard hit of the year 2000 and VH followed it up with 'You're a God' and 'Best I Ever Had' from the same album. In 2003 'I'm Still Here', 'Forever' and 'When You Cry' all charted on Billboard from their record 'Go.' The band never officially broke up and have been out there since 'Go' was released. They are extremely talented and put on an awesome live show.
If you want to see 'semi-success' take a look at your own career Perez. I think Will.I.Am should bitch slap you again. People will be trying to remember who you are in a few years. Trust me.
its third eye blind, not third eyed blind
You can count on the band at least selling 1 album. To my wife. Thats if it doesnt leak before that As far as im concerned BOOORING. If i put up a taco stand would you all come and try it???????
My Avitar or whatever the F you call it pic didnt not update WTF does anyone know how to fix this
Im starting to hate Vertical Horizon
yay
The album already came out Tacostand. I don't know who's the bigger tool…you or Perez.
I went to college with these guys! So glad they are back. Pick up some of their older stuff (pre Everything You Want). You will not be disappointed! Re: Italianissima –
I own all their albums as well. I'm glad they are back and I would love to see them perform live.
someone said everything u want is about Doug Reinhardt?
I went to all their concerts in Texas when I was in college! They were at South by Southwest in 1999. Everything you want was such a sucky song - I could never figure out why that one of all their songs was the one that 'made it'. Maybe they are cursed with only being really good live. Who knows.
The new CD is awesome. Saw them live in September-great show. This is an incredible band. Much more than record sales show. Amazing depth and talent in their music, incredible showmanship, and longevity. Pull up their older cd's too, quite a catalog. I've got 'em all, but the newest is the best.
Mall Rock? Genereic?o Way! These Guys are fabulous! Glad they've reformed.
I'm so glad theses guys have reformed! They Rock!
