Joss Stone's Failed Diss!

| Filed under: AnglophiliaJoss StoneMusic Minute

Did Joss Stone's passive-aggressive attack on her label, EMI, backfire????

The fucks-for-tracks singer's original cover for her latest album, Colour Me Free, featured Stone contorted behind prison bars - what we interpret as a jab at EMI for not releasing Stone from her contract.

But EMI has drawn up a new cover for the album!

The all-text cover of Colour Me Free is the album art featured both in the iTunes store and at Joss' exclusive retailer, Target!

What's up with the switch????

Reps for Stone say the singer recognizes the original artwork as her album cover, but the big wigs at EMI are saying Joss "agreed to the [new] album cover selection."

Who's telling the truth????

And which album cover do U like more?

The original cover is quite off putting…new cover isn't great but at least not so disturbing.

The cover with the image is much better. It definitely caught my attention and caused me to look at it for a few seconds….I can see where some might find it dark/disturbing…but it is supposed to make a statement.

  5. 5

They both suck. The first especially, it looks like a cheap home job done with old paint. And if the second was done by the record company…I'd want to leave too.

Perez this is so old news, Joss has clarrified that the 2nd (crappy) cover is for certain countries whare the 1st (for some reason) wouldnt be allowed and anyway people buy joss's cd's for her voice not the cover so it doesnt even matter . . . seriously though EMI are a totally shit label and she needs to ditch them ASAP! :P

you can see in her recent interview at Chelasea Lately that she did not like the EMI cover (well, it´s pretty awful indeed), and EMI found her artcover "offensive". You always says lady Gaga does real art, but you refuse to see that Joss´ art cover is real art too. It represents whats she says in her allbum, specially Free Me, the 1st single. Joss is not a sell out artist, and this is why she is so out of media today. She makes music for people, not for radio. Please stop hating her, she´s not this "f*cks__**Tracks* you keep saying just because some nasty pathetic rapper said it two years ago with no apparent reason other then promote himself in the media…

I find it funny that you are taking some sort of moral high ground against Joss, but then you are advertising her album on your site. Hypocrite.

  10. 10

    That girl can SANG.

  11. 11

It don't matter cuz no one is gonna buy that shit anyway.

  12. 12

Joss has interviewed numerous times explaining her cd artwork. She states that a number of countries found her original offensive, and they just needed to put out something to meet deadlines. Anyway the cd is awesome how about you and your team crack open the cd and listen to it instead of focusing on a crappy story from weeks ago.
Seriously Perez whats going on with your site? Is it the new people you have or what? All your stories are old and stretch the truth.

  13. 13

    brand new news, huh?!

  14. 14

Porky, what the fuck do you mean "fucks for tracks"?
Speak for yourself, you fat hypocrite, story stealing, fat fuck!

  15. 15

She said on Chelsea Lately that she doesn't like the new cover art and is trying to put the real one on her website for people to download and make new covers.

    who's writing this blog?

Joss Stone is going to be another footnote in the music industry as a one hit wonder. I remember when she first came out they spent millions on marketing her and her image. She had all the best old school talent work with her and give her personal coaching lessons like Chaka Khan. She has blown it. Fighting with a record label who by the way signs your check decides the marketing budget, the timing of your release, hires the stylist, decides how much to spend on advertising and the video is the dumbest thing an artist can do. It is basically getting yourself blackballed from the industry.

  18. 18

Wow this is really really old news. I saw her on late night talking about this weeks ago. And it's been an add on your site for just as long. Can't even take the time to notice who you're taking promotion money from?

  19. 19

They only used 2 colors for cheaper printing! DIS!

  20. 20

Read this late-breaking story early last week at EW.com.
    Way to go, Jimmy Olson!

    both are awful!!!!

  22. 22

I like the Joss photo better, than the lack luster just text option.

Also you need to stop with the "will fuck 4 tracks" ref

  23. 23

WHO CARES THE ALBUM IS AMAZING!!!!! Check out the song LADY So hotttttttt!!!!!

  24. 24

    I love the first one.

  25. 25

Why does this girl even have a contract with a label? None of her albums have been successful. She needs to fuck more talented people for better tracks. Ugly slut.

  26. 26

She's crap, she's got a big mouth and wide open legs and no talent.
