Footloose Remake Loses Director!!!

This is one MAJOR setback!

Kenny Ortega, the man behind High School Musical, Dirty Dancing, and the new Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It, has pulled out of his latest project, the new Footloose remake!

Apparently, the acclaimed director and choreographer had problems with Paramount Pictures over tone and budget for the film. Insiders suggest that Kenny was looking to make an elaborate musical spectacle out of the movie, needing somewhere near $30 million dollars to create fabulous staged musical numbers. Paramount's production chief, Adam Goodman, however is looking for more of an "edgier drama with less emphasis on the musical numbers and a budget around $25 million or less."

So Kenny is bowing out. Both Paramount and Ortega confirmed the split and remained professional when releasing the official statement:

"Coming off the extraordinary project, Michael Jackson's 'This is It,' director Kenny Ortega has decided it is premature for him to commit to his next film and will not be moving forward with 'Footloose' as previously reported."

That's all well and good, but who will direct Chace Crawford now???

Adam Shankman, are you available? Rob Marshall???

Someone, clear their schedule!!!

Maybe he quit because he realizes this film will be a major flop. Stop with the shitty remakes already. Nothing will top the original.

EXACTLY! I mean everyone's complaining how there's no money anywhere and even Hollywood is suffering…suffering my butt! Where is this money coming from?? I wanna talk to these "investors" and see if they can't up their medication…

This movie's cursed, first Zac Efron and now Kenny. Or maybe this movie's just a sinking ship and people are starting to realize it and are just jumping ship.

fINALLY kenny, a lil sense in you!! Kenny and i are BFFs, what with his creations of the best musicals ever..but when i found out he was behind the footloose remake i wanted to cry!!!! you CANNOT REMAKE FOOTLOOSE! it's sacred! and with talentless, bottle blond, most obnoxious person ever AKA julianne hough playing ariel, it is definitely DOOMED. and i love me some chace crawford, uber sexy, but he is nO KEVIN BACON. sooo uhhh tHANK YOU kenny for realizing you were making a hUGE MISTAKE and stepping out of this production!! i am protesting every show — do not buy tickets!! this is a disgrace to all things musically holy………uGGGGGGGGGGGGH
