He's Hosting The Golden Globes?!?!

Interesting choice.
Honestly, we would have thought NBC would have picked Jay Leno! But maybe it wasn't their call.
Ricky Gervais will be our esteemed host for this year's Golden Globes ceremonies. The Brit comedian is no stranger to the award show, but he will be the first host that the show has had since 1995. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is "delighted" to have him, but for NBC's ratings sake, lets hope America feels the same way.
The show will air on January 17 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and nominations will be announced on Dec. 15
A piece of advice: We'd recommend straying away from the Holocaust jokes this time around, Ricky. Just a thought.

I went to see him doing stand up a few months ago and it was TERRIBLE! I do like The Office and Extras, but his off the cuff stuff is really unfunny - best of luck Golden Globes!
I'm not a fan, but I say we give him a chance. Maybe this is his opportunity to prove to me that he has a more congenial sense of humour than I had thought.

hi is fantastic!!! its a refreshing choice ’cause all the american host do pretty much the same… he is usually more acid on his jokes, and he is not afraid to say anything…. for those that don't think he is a great host I recomend u to get a hold on his audiobooks… he is fantastic!!!

You need to watch the episode of Extras starring Kate Winslet to understand the comment he made about the Holocaust. He's the best choice to host as far as I'm concerned.
For gods sake Perez, the 'holocaust jokes' were because, in the first series of Extras, the episode with Kate Winslet (playing a nun) she's moaning that she's never won an oscar and he says to her she needs to do a holocaust movie!! His comments related to that episode and that joke, so give it a rest!!!!

Ricky Gervais is comic genius. Let's get him and Larry David up on stage, and while they're at it let's get Merchant too. Come on. The man's a legend. Perez you're just an over-sensitive tool.
I really like him-I find him hilarious! But I still would rather see NPH hosting award shows! I could see Ricky potentially being awkward and many viewers at home either "not getting" him or just truly finding him un-funny.
I love him, i think he's hilarious…most of the time. Was disappointed with his last film, but still find the office so funny and some of his stand up is pretty funny aswell. But im not sure everyone quite gets his humour…

My bf and I think he is so funny. You find what he said so offensive but Lady GagA dangling by a rope with prop blood on her eye ball at the VMAS doesn't phase you a bit.
Ricky Gervais is absolutely fabulous. I love him in all his movies, mind you, I haven't seen him do stand up. I hope he does well
