The new direction of The Hills (Plus Kristin and minus Lauren Conrad) has caused viewership to fall dramatically. The ratings fell 30% for the season premiere and only managed to bring in 1.72 million viewers on last Tuesday's episode.
Ouch!
Sources are suggesting that audiences find Kristin to be less "engaging/enraging" than the former villains of the series, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. They seem to be quite content these days in their own little newlywed world and have no time to cause drama for the other castmates.
Furthermore, the producer's Kristin's tactics to start drama for the show are too reminiscent of her days on Laguna Beach (i.e. - she's hooking up with Justin Bobby in order to create this love triangle thing with Audrina. Been there, done that, cancel the show!)
Could this be the end of The Hills?! Has Speidi seen it's day?! Has Kristin destroyed the franchise?!

i stopped watching when the cast openly started saying it's fake. it sucked the fun out of everything. like wrestling, for example. kids like it because they think people are really kicking each others asses, but once they find out that it's all storylines, it takes the fun out of watching it.
I think it's the fact that everyone on the show admits that it's soo fake!! Even KC does it..and as soon as Lauren left she started shit talking the show… the only one's who stay true to it are Speidi… I don't think they've ever once complained about MTV or anything… raises for them!!

This show & the people on it are the dumbest people ever to walk this earth…. The Hills is a humiliating blip in the history of American television. You (not me, i never watched the fucking show) gave these assholes fame, i mean one of those bitches actually wrote a book, truthfully, i wasn't even aware any of them could read! None of them are pretty, they all look like anorexic plastic fuck dolls (which i guess gets some people off) When this show dies, i will be so very thankful. Although what they put in place of it always has the potential to be worse (however, i think that is impossible)

I don't even watch the show regularly, but the previews and one or two episodes I've seen make me seriously despise this girl. She's a vapid, narcissistic, douche-bag. I know they all pretty much are, but at least the rest of them know that they are. This girl thinks she some serious actress that is better than the show. Honey, give it up you're not Heather Locklear and you weren't brought in save Melrose.

The time has come for the show to bid farwell, Kristen blew it when she "admitted" to "acting" on the show, making it fake. She just causes a bunch of drama, at least Lauren was educated, going to school and studying the fashion world,Kristen is just a waist of space, this show needs to be tanked, and heidi and spencer are LAME!!

Classic bitch, a covert aggressive, nasty to people then turning it round to make it look like they had wronged her. It's the mark of an abuser to be an accuser! And that I'm afraid is what Lauren Conrad is, yes it is.
Heidi bullied throughout the whole thing, Lauren excluded her, that is harrassment, if it was in an office Heidi could have got her sacked. Lauren was very jealous that Heidi had a boyfriend and she didn't - made her feel small, so thought intimidating everybody would make her feel better, hahahahahah!! Only insecure people behave like that so the joke is really on Lauren, she has totally exposed herself.
First it was Heidi, then her friend Jen, then Audrina. And then her 'best friend' Bo (who she hadn't spoken to for 2 years, hahahahahha!) - she was basically like her limpet, simpering up to Lauren as her 1st lieutenant, well with a face like that, what's a girl to do? And Brady who got completely played by her, sooo hilarious! That's why figures are down, because the others are normal, people like to watch crazy mentallist people like LC!!

I used to love the Hills - it's just not as good anymore. It's always been fake, but it's just faker now more than ever and you get that vibe while watching it. I like Kristin too, but it's not fun to watch.

Kristin is to blame! Thats why I stopped watching. I loooove Lauren. I watched the first two episodes this season but then stopped because it totally didn't interest me at ALL anymore without Lauren. Its just dumb without her. And weird because shes always been the main person on that show. LC!
I love Kristin and think she makes the show far more interesting. The problem with the show is that it is too scripted and completely unbelievable. I HATE the Kristin-Justin Bobby hookup. He is gross. They should just follow the people around and film their actual lives like they used to. Include the paparazzi and everything. If the film crew misses something important, they can reenact it–just like on Laguna Beach.

I cant believe how may ppl are saying that liked lauren better….she was SOOOOOOOOOOOO boring!!!! There used to be 1 or 2 exciting things that would happen every season, after watching an episode I would think "i waited all week to see that???", it was boring for the most part. Now something exciting happens EVERY episode, I love it!!! Kristen is a STAR!!

I kept watching this show and watching this show and finally I realized, 'Oh, they're serious about this'…Fascinating…I was just waiting for them all to get naked.
The show is too obviously fake now. They should never have brought Kristin on. She has had nothing to do with any of their lives for the past four (or five? i'm losing count) seasons, she wasn't (and still probably isnt) even friends with anyone else on the show! At least in the last few seasons, some of the events were real.

It fails because there is not underdog, no good endearing person everyone is rooting for, people tuned in because Lauren Conrad was trying to make it in fashion and had this type of vulnerable vibe, and then there were villains (speidi) trying to bring her down, so the show worked. But now there's the happily married and nausiating speidi, the bitchy Kristin with her high school tactics, and not a single good lovable charater. IT FAILS, no one wants to watch it. Cancel time.

Lauren definetly made the show interesting becuase since it was her spin off… she actually related to every character in the show one way or another… duhhh. I am a loyal Lauren fan and she definetly made things look more real which made me tune in. Kristen was brought in for the drama. what I dont understand is why instead of giving kristen her own show, you bring her into a show that she talked shit about and said she would never be a part of the show, and then after LC says she's leaving then KC is now the diva bitch… makes no sense. I watch The Hills regularly. It really feels like the same thing that happened to Laguna Beach. When Lauren leaves and Kristin comes in (both times!) the show tanks. What made MTV think this time would be different??? She is fake, and although I know the show is considered "scripted reality" I at least never saw Lauren obviously creating drama like Kristin is. A girl like her would NEVER go out with someone like Justin and I hate that they think that actually passes for reality. The show is basically over and done with in my opinion.

Just in watching the first episode: There's no story line.
-Why would Audrina be "fighting mad" over Justin Bobby and Kristin "dating" - when Audrina not only "broke up" with Justin - but has had been seen with other guys since then?
-Why would we care about Heidi and Spencer's relationship and them "fighting" over having kids even more so?
-How and why is "Stacy the bartender" apart of the crew now?
-How and why should the viewers care about Brody and Jade's relationship?
Nothing makes sense on that show anymore - even by "fake story line" standards.

The only true Hills stars on the show anymore is , sadly, Spencer and Heidi. Heidi's been there since day one and Spencer's been bringing the annoying, senseless bullshit since season two.
