Tyler Perry vs Spike Lee!!!

Tyler Perry is MAD! And he has no qualms talking about why!

Recently, director Spike Lee took an unnecessary and hurtful (to him) jab at Tyler Perry, calling his characters, such as Madea, examples of “coonery” and “buffoonery.”

Yeah, tell that to the movie audiences who always managed to shoot his flicks up to #1!

Tyler isn't taking Spike's crap sitting down, so he recently went on 60 Minutes to respond.

Watch as Tyler calmly, but sternly dismisses Spike's opinion (above).

? Sorry, I dont habblo spanish!

  3. 3

Tyler Perry's characters are played out. Seriously it was cool to begin with but then he kept making madea films and it was annoying. Then his more serious films all see the same too….boring, but whatever the fans will do what they want and he will probably keep making it to number 1 as long as they are loyal.

  4. 4

Nothing but a shitty unoriginal Mrs. Doubtfire ripoff. go fuck yourself tyler perry, spike lee directed Do The Right Thing…you haven't directed dick worth watching in your entire career…

  5. 5

I completely agree with Spike Lee. I could not for the life of me believe that House of Payne won an Image Award from the NAACP. Unbelievable.

  6. 6

Spike Lee has had flop after flop. Screw Spike Lee….he is only jealous, out of touch and acting like a baby. Movies are for entertainment…they take us to a world that doesn't exist. If everyone went by the book then we would have some boring ass movies out there.
    Do your thing Tyler

  7. 7

Spike Lee is a whiney, jealous, humorless bitch and more filled with self-righteous indignation than Elisabitch!

  8. 8

    I love you Tyler Perry!!!

  9. 9

Team spike his movies are kick ass!

  10. 10

Im no tyler perry fan but Spike Lee has always been extremely full of himself and his "art". Why do people even care what he says anymore?

  11. 11

FUCK SPIKE LEE! TYLER IS AMAZING! I AM LATINO AND I LOVE ALL TYLER MOVIES…I CRY I LAUGH AND I FEEL…HE WRITES THE WAY PEOPLE ARE…THE WAY FAMILIES ARE…IF HES EMBARRASSED ABOUT IT MAYBE HE IS ASHAMED OF HIMSELF. THAT'S HIS PROBLEM. KEEP DOING IT PERRY! YOU BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER. I WISH I WAS THE LATINO PERRY!

OMG! Get over yourselves African-American people!! THE STEREOTYPE IS RIGHT!! Why else would an African-American person make fun of them!? DUH!

  13. 13

BOTH OF THESE DIRT BAGS HATE WHITE PEOPLE TO THE FULLEST!

  14. 14

I agree with artistic freedom and the freedom of speech; Spike could have expressed his opinion more intelligently without being insulting.

  15. 15

I pay to see a Tyler Perry movie. I might watch a Spike Lee movie when it is on it's 3-5th repeat on tv.

  16. 16

    -
Spike is right, Perry's movies are beyond bad. Poorly written, poorly acted and clearly aimed at a low brow black audience.
    -

  17. 17

    spike lee!!!! tyler perry sucks.

  18. 18

I agree with Spike Lee, personally I cannot even watch Tyler Perry's movies. The are always miscast and the characters are so over-exaggerated it's nothing but pure annoying. Can't stand it.

  19. 19

    Re: Zombie Hitler

yep, and nobody has told it better in a long time. sorry the message of the film flew right the fuck over your head but it does sound like it made you angry and confused, which was the emotion the film was to leave you with once the credits started to roll.

  20. 20

not that I have the holy opinion but,
Spike lee is right. there are zero movies about the brilliance and heart of black people. none. I understand to get to the point where there are movies like that the hollywood ice must be broken, but really? these characters speak to a number of people who are yes, profound, smart, and wonderful human beings, but they also speak to the ignorance in others. i applaud both directors because this is an easily offended society and they had the common sense to speak to squabble at each other not as a white man to a black man but as two directors not sharing the same views.

  21. 21

    I agree with Spike.
Perry's humor is broad; it plays to the lowest common denominator.
Give us subtlety and artistry. Don't hit us over the head with a mallet. Perry's movies are quickly made, pre-fab and redundant. Take the time, do it right.
They are profitable and popular, though, and I'm sure Lee envies that. I'm glad Mr. Perry helped produce "Precious" and wants to do "For Colored Girls…" I think it's a move in the right direction.

  22. 22

    GHE-TTO!!!!

It IS buffoonery and he owns that. His characters are cartoonish and he should be ashamed of himself.

I guess I don't like it because I'm "only" half-black. How is this paying homage to "real people"?? By making them ridiculous caricatures?

    SHAMEFUL.

  23. 23

    Re: Douche Hunter

Inside Man was far from a bomb and released only 2 years ago

  24. 24

Truth. Any and all Tyler Perry programming/entertainment (if it can be called that) is unintelligent slapstick B.S. - Just because his movies are number one in the box office and his shows receive high ratings is a continued testament to how intellectual audiences are these days - Spike Lee is one to talk too (although his cinematography and creative eye is far better than anything Perry could ever reach for, Lee has had his "ups & downs" with regard to content produced)

  25. 25

Spike Lee is right. While Perry doesn't intend to show negative stereotypes, that's what he does, especially in House of Payne and Meet the Browns. I can't sit through 10 minutes of either. Just because a black person enjoys it, doesn't mean it isn't offensive.

  26. 26

I've always hated those "see how black I am" characters like Eddie Murphy/Arsenio Hall's barber shop awfulness. I remember watching that movie with friends cracking up over those scenes wondering where the actual humor was (and I'm white!).

  27. 27

Tyler's movies are not a work of art but Spike is so jealous of Tyler's success. Tyler is in the middle of one of the most successful runs in box office history by a single director. He is one of the most consistent film makers in a long time. Spike Lee has never been able to cultivate a loyal audience. So what if his characters are a bit over the top or are offensive . A lot of characters in movie history have been a bit offensive. Spike always has to put his two cents in.

  28. 28

I haven't seen a single Madea movie for that exact reason. (But LOVED Why Did I Get Married :)

  29. 29

    Spike Lee is right.
I never understood what black male comics thought was SO HILARIOUS about dressing up as a fat older black woman.
Eddie Murphy has done it , that guy from Big Momma's House did it (can't remember his name), etc.
Or even just dressing up as women period, like in White Chicks.
And just because a movie makes alot of money dosen't actually mean it's very good.
    Quanity versus quality!
think Twilght or Transformers: thier successful but thier bloody awful movies

  30. 30

He didn't SPECIFICALLY go on 60 Minutes to tell Spike Lee off. What an instigator. The segment was about Tyler Perry's accomplishments and about 2 minutes of what he thought of Spike Lee's comments.

  31. 31

Lmao Tyler Perry's work IS coonery, that this is even debated it pretty hilarious. His work sells because Christians are willing to fork out money for complete and utter crap (Hello, Fireproof? Creed anyone?). Tyler Perry's films get airtime because he makes cheap movies and they sell out more than it costs to make. That's just how the business works. It doesn't take rocket science to figure out.m

  32. 32

spike lee is right. tyler perry perpetuates these horrible stereotypes about the black community. it amazes me that so many people go see his movies, considering he is making fun of most the people in the audience.

  33. 33

What's the difference between Medea and company and Earl (my name is Earl) and his gang of white trailer trash? Both are caricatures to be sure but in both races these type of people do exist in real life. Spike Lee can't just erase this part of black culture because it doesn't positively reinforce his vision of what black people should be.

  34. 34

SPIKE LEE is a total cock sucker. Its just a fucking movie character for fuck sakes. Spike can go fuck off.

  35. 35

    Spike is right…..Team Spike +1

  36. 36

hahhahaha wow these comments. I dislike Spike as much as the next person but jesus I'd be to too embarrassed to admit I went to see a Tyler Perry movie. Spike Lee makes FILMS and Tyler Perry just films play adaptations on cheap sets.

  37. 37

Spike Lee just needs to shut the hell up. He hasn't done ANYthing worth mentioning in a positive light. He's nothing more than a black supremest who doesn't want a positive change in the world, just to switch the status of black and white people. His movies are so bad I'd suggest watching "Fist of the North Star" the live action version before ANY of his movies. I can see what he's TRYING to do but he's too blind with this whole "kill whitey" mentality that he'll never be more than a black version of those old guys in the balcony of the Muppet Show.

  38. 38

these movies aren't even funny. and yes, tyler perry, we do know that 'people like this exist'…we see them nightly on the news and episodes of cops. why don't you stop playing into these dumb stereotypes and actually do something articulate and challenging.

  39. 39

Part of having a good sense of humor is being able to poke fun.
Not only at other people but at yourself.
I'm totally on team Tyler Perry.
Spike Lee needs to take the stick out of his ass!

  40. 40

Each man is entitled to their opinion. Spike is only confused because he's black and thinks everything he sees or hears should have some moral improvement to the image of black people. Spike needs to understand that by him putting it out there, it's himself that fuels the negative stereotype towards black people. Perry on the other hand has really milked his stuff to straight to DVD release. How it was worthy to earn a segment on 60 mintures is beyond me.

  41. 41

I'm no big fan of Tyler Perry, but Spike Lee's comments smack of jealousy… who is he to say that Tyler Perry's work isn't valid? Isn't he insulting millions of TP fans (and fellow African Americans) as well? "Do the Right Thing" was TWENTY YEARS AGO and I guess Sipke cannot understand why his work hasn't resonated with the multituded of fans TP has. I saw Spike Lee speak at my college several years ago and he was full of self-righteous anger. Seems like he hasn't changed.

  42. 42

TYLER PERRY IS A CINEMATIC GENIUS- SPIKE IS JEALOUS-

  43. 43

I think Spike Lee is correct. It's like the 20's all over again. White People Flock to see a grown man act like a fool. The entire character just reinforces stereotypes about out culture. The whole, Big Black woman, who cooks, and will beat anyones child, but can't read or write thing is a bit tired and worn out. Why do you think his movies that don't involve Madea don't do well. "Why did I get Married did the best" but even that was no where NEAR the ones where he's a clown.

Not all black people will fall for this BET type entertainment. Some of us can see pandering when it's right in front of us. Lots of us are educated and cultured and would rather see movies that have characters with depth and substance.

  44. 44

    Re: Canukian – -
    -
the difference is that the characters in "My Name is Earl" are tongue in cheek and are regarded as such - it is fundamental to the shows success
    -
Perry expects us to believe his modern day Buckwheats are serious, legitimate characters without a sense of irony about them - they are base and insulting - Perry is the kind of man who opens up liquor stores and check cashing places in the ghetto and gets rich off the misery of his own kind
    -

  45. 45

Spike Lee's comments sound like dialogue he would put in a movie.

  46. 46

Perry is a disgrace- and his movies are awful. He's an Oprah-style corporate whore. Spike Lee is, as usual, tots right.

  47. 47

Tyler Perry didnt answer the question regarding Madea=bufoonery. Saying ask my fanbase doesnt suffice. It just means your fan base like stereotypical, corny, buffonery characters. At least Spike Lee shows complexities rather then cheap laughs.

  48. 48

Spike lee needs a reality check.I think i watched 2 minutes of a film about African Americans during world war 2 and had to turn it off because it was so historically inaccurate.
Tyler Perry is an amazing man.Everything he touches turns out great.

Spike Lee go jump in a lake.

  49. 49

Spike Lee is a racist, and hypocrite. As Madea would say, "He a douchebag!"

TEAM TP - all the way!! Who wants some homogenized group of pompous ivy leaguers? This has nothing to do w/ black and white. It's classist. There are several "white" examples of characters being over the top - Elaine Dennis of Seinfeld for example. If people actually behaved the way she did, they'd be in jail. But she's funny, because certain groups of average people can relate to her circumstances and find humor in her reaction to those circumstances. SL needs to lighten up. The characters (mull on that word for a minute- b/c this is fiction), as TP points out, are good hearted, kind, intelligent, funny INTERESTING characters. Certain groups of similarly kind hearted, intelligent, funny, interesting people may relate to their circumstances and find humor in their over the top reactions. It's called a SIT-COM. So they don't sit around reading Shakespeare . . . Isn't that what diversity is about? DIFFERENCES. Different attitudes and lifestyles . . . Are all white people a bunch of bumbling idiots b/c Jack Tripper flipped over a chair, couch and coffee table every time he entered a room? At the end of the day, Jack Tripper was a decent guy and the messes he found himself in were funny comedy - NOT reality. I think people are smart enough to know the difference. Lighten up SL (but keep doin’ whatsha do – b/c your movies are fantastic and provocative – but no need to be hatin’ on TP!!

  51. 51

What has Spike Lee done lately? I never hear of him.

  52. 52

There is room for both artistic visions. I really enjoyed Spike's "25th Hour" and "Miracle at St. Anna's". But unfortunately they did not pull in strong box office.
Tyler on the other hand tends to be one-note-ish but again he knows his audience and his audience loves him for it. Spike should respect that. Blaxpoltative movies catered to black audiences. Spike would probably at one point take issue with those types of movies….but the hip hop community resurrected them to some gangsta holy grail level. Again, there is room for both. Go to the one that speaks most to you. That would be more Spike Lee for me than Tyler but I don't begrudge Tyler's right to create and exist.

  53. 53

Man Spike lee is a sell out and do the right thing was a million years ago. Stop judging others and do your own thing hater.

    54

Spike Lee is just jealous of the fact this guys movies are making more money! Spike Lee shouldn't talk I remember when he had movies about a black ghetto whore black girl called She's Gotta Have it. Sit your ass down Spike!

  55. 55

I love Tyler Perry he seems like such a good man. Spike lee is jealous of his success.

  56. 56

    AMEN TYLER PERRY AMEN!

    57

when you really break it down they both suck

  58. 58

    Well said MR Perry.

  59. 59

spike lee is just jealous because he really hasn't had a hit worth the time of the movie goers since do the right thing circa 1988!!!!! plus they are both different directors and really he shouldn't critizing tyler perry because he as had a more successful career then he has ever had….what perry did was find a character that everyone can relate to and he went with it…..and i am a mexican woman and i will admit that i just love madea….tyler perry don't let spike piss you off he's done all that he could for his career.

  60. 60

Spike Lee is sooooo wrong on this one. To all those folks commenting on how "ghetto" Tyler Perry's movies are - you need to go look around your neighborhoods, churches and family reunions! Tylers's characters have many dimensions! Yes, his first movies evolved from stage plays that HE wrote (how many plays has Lee written???) Tyler Perry is the epitome of success - the type of success that evolves from the heart, not the pocket. His most recent films are wonderfully done, poignant and getting better all the time. "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" had me crying in one scene and cracking up at the next - Tyler's movies come from the heart and they stick with you. How many of Spike Lee's movies do that? I can only name one (and I've seen all but the last one) and that is Mo' Better Blues.

  61. 61

    Re: Canukian – Excellent point.

  62. 62

im so over spike lee when has he put out a fuckin movie that made over 40 million dollars he needs to shut his dumb hatin ass up he always has shit to say people who criticize madea as stretypical seem foolish to me what is stereotypical about her i always seen her as a funny crazy grandmom i didnt look at her and a typical black women because i dont have an ignorant ass mindset and i dont take the character of one person in a fuckin film and make that the character of a complete race like white people can make the dumbest movies with the characters getting drunk and doing all kinds of silly stupid shit but thats good entertainment a black person makes a movie like that and its stereotypical???its called fuckin entertainment and FYI in tylers movies there are always black women who have money and are very educated and then there are some who are broke and have regular life struggles SPIKE is is a dumb bitch i cant even take him serioulsly keep doin your thing TYLER you havent made it until you get haters.

  63. 63

ok I give Perry credit and over look his 'played out' characters because long b4 he was doing the movies he was working hard w/ the stage shows of these characters and giving forgotten about black actors jobs. Spike's opinions reek of snobbery. white people have rolls ranging from president to meth head red neck - why can't african americans show the diversity of their people?

  64. 64

Re: Zombie Hitler – dont know where you stay but i see many white people at his movie's and suprisingly they all seem to be either middle age or elderly

    speak for yourself.

  65. 65

I am white and love love his movies

  66. 66

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tyler Perry!!! He does what great directors are suppose to do and thats entertain! I see every TP movie when it comes out and he's the only movie creator that I do that for! LOVE HIM! (oh and I'm a middle aged white women with 2 kids who's walks her dog and gets groceries on thursdays!!! LOVE HIM!)

  67. 67

and people like to always point out how so called "stereotypical"madea is but they never talk about all the other aspects of his moveis like how in daddy's little girls there was a black man trying to take care of all of his kids and how there was an educated black women as the rich yet at first snobby lawyers or in why did i get married when all of the couples had succesful jobs but had problems in there marriage i mean really there isnt anything ghetto about it. madea is just a crazy ass character thats not meant to be tooken that serious i honestly think spike is jelouse because he could never get the attention and money madea flicks do o he needs to fuck off

  68. 68

i LOVE tyler perry movies. in every film he's made, there is a moment or a message that really touches me. obviously, he's created a formula for success, and i believe spike lee is either jealous or saying shit for publicity and attention, cause no one cares about him anymore.

and honestly, diary of a mad black woman is one of my all time favorite movies. so funny, so sad, and so touching.

  69. 69

I COMPLETELY disagree with Spike on this one, if anything I believe Perry's movies are a wonderful representation of black's most of the time. The Madea character is for comedy relief and that is all she is. I really enjoyed "I Can Do Bad.." and "The Family That Pray's". I believe all of his movies are different kinds of movies and they range from a story of "uppercrust" African Americans to the ones living around the way. All of his movies have an intense amount of drama and a little bit of comedy added to them and I believe Perry is a fucking genius. Seeing his movies are like a breath of fresh unlike some OTHER movies most of the time depicting blacks as "bafoons".

  70. 70

it's comedy people!…Perry's movies/show are not intended to be serious and though I was a bigger fans of Spike lees's movies…summer of sam and crooklyn TOTALLY sucked!…spike sounds bitter and jealous! the Borat movies are stupid to me, but hey….some people think they are funny…LIVE AND LET LIVE SPIKE!

  71. 71

i agree with Tyler Perry. Especially when he said "it's that kind of attitude that makes Hollywood believe there isn't really these characters out there" I have a large group of black family and friends. And I've met plenty of Madea's, etc. That's why those shows are sooooo funny. He hits the nail on the head. Not saying that EVERY black person is like that. But in many family's his show relates to at least one person. So I understand what he means by that. Unless you've hung around these type of people you would believe what Spike Jones was saying.

  72. 72

If you cant laugh at yourself….then who can you laugh at? Besides hasnt anyone noticed that Madea might be bringing them in, but she has been far from the focus of the movies here lately. They have had poignant messages in them.

  73. 73

I Think Spike is pathetic! I have a beef with him and his wife…I was suposed to work as their assistant here in NYC a couple of years ago and they completely took advantaged of me..I worked three full days, mostly hanging with their kids Jackson and Satchel and they never paid me! Pf course I did not take the job, Thank You! He is weird, rude and ackward. She is beaatiful but a bitch! Their kids are nice kids…Needless to say I am on Team Perry!

  74. 74

Re: Zombie Hitler – Madea is so not a sterotype if you watch the 60 mins. interview he adresses this and says its just based on specific people he has met. Hes not hanging a sign on Madea saying " I Am Black People", no your making madea a stereotype in your own brain.

  75. 75

Honestly I dont care for any of Tyler's movies or tv show. No one I know goes to see them or watches the tv show so I don't know why they are always big hits.

  76. 76

Tyler Perry's movies have moral and humor to them…
    that's what make them entertainment……
please people have a SENSE OF HUMOR!!!!!
    love you TP!!!!

  77. 77

I am no fan of spike lee, I find him arrogant and stupid(he sued spike network because they stole his name, really? spike didn't exist before you?) however I will say there is a long standing tradition of black men dressing like women to entertain white men. I think it's demeaning and purposfully humiliating, I have always been suprised that perry latched on to that genre. And who the fuck watches Madea?

  78. 78

I think Spike should support him and certainly not tear him down in public! Sounds like jealousy to me! Tyler's movies always have a good message in them and certainly the millions that he's making proves that point!

  79. 79

I give TP props for his accomplishments, he went from being homeless to being the first African American to own his own film studio. That's huge! TP movies may not be the best movies made, but I watch them and I can usually find some humor in them. Sure to some they may be offensive or deemed buffanory, but just about everyone has a Madea in their family. She's ghetto as hell, and don't take no shit but she will give you the shirt off of her back. Tyler's movies are harmless and they usually come with a message. I don't have a problem with Spike Lee, but while his movies are on a different level than that of TP I feel his comments were unecessary. When will black folks learn to support each other, every other race knows this except for us. I wish the best for both them.

  80. 80

Spike Lee made Do The Right Thing and some other crappy films, which just perpetuated the Black Ghetto stereotype. Tyler Perry has made commercially successful films. Truth is is that Spike is nothing anymore and the ONLY reason we are discussing him is because he leeched on to Tyler Perry who is wayyyyy bigger than Spike could ever hope to be. And as for the NAACP..Really? So then Blacks can't be offended when someone calls them Colored! Team Perry!!!!

  81. 81

Re: Zombie Hitler – i agree totally with you! Spike never said anything about all those Eddie Murphy characters, Grandma Klump?? Shes the first Madea!!

  82. 82

I agree with Tyler Perry, Madea was a great character to draw people in, and alot of people did get his message of forgiveness. I think its low of Lee to criticize that! The man set out to give people a message, and he did it in his own way. Spike Lee does it his own way. I think he's just "hatin" because he doesnt make as much money…

  83. 83

spike lee is a jealous has-been

  84. 84

LoL… I don't like Spike Lee. He comes across as if trying to be very smart but really is an idiot. I feel like his movies push the black movement backwards. He come at a time when it was cool to be…whatever. Tyler Perry on the other hand tho I don't like his movies I like and understand. His so called buffoonery characters like Madea and Mr Brown are in my opinion buffers. Most if not all of his movies has a serious undertone to them, and these characters come out and just lighten the mood up a bit. The movie 'Why did I get married' was a very serious movie and I didn't see it as a black movie. His colorful characters were not in that movie. It had the quint essential married characters that all movies have. The successful, something tragic happened marriage falling apart. The you were once sexy but now gained weight I don't want you but later on u get sexy again but i lost u to somebody else. The I have kids from another relationship baby mama/baby daddy drama. And the husband and wife that love each other but don't respect one another. Tho his movies are predictable he gives you these colorful characters during a heart wrenching moment to make you smile. Think of all the movies Madea was in, they were of serious matter. But her character was smart and made you smile.

  85. 85

    Re: hotsilk

I agree with you but lets subtract the african american equation. Every ethnic family has that one or two stereotypical family member. A white family might have that uncle Buck who drinks beer, loves hunting, loves porn, wears boots, owns a 4×4 a goes "oh shoot". Every Italian family has that greasy haired, over sexed, god's gift to women, gold chain in the hairy chest missing two top buttons family member. Even Perez has that aunt or uncle that pronounces job as "yob", has a citrus tree in the back yard, always makes references to Fidel Castro, and is republican. The issue is Spike is not the go to black director in Hollywood. Nobody's talking about Spike's movies anymore.

  86. 86

Madea was funny first, but then he came with Brown, the Paynes, and crap like that. I'm like WTF???? I'm black, and no one in my family is like that, I don't even know anyone like that. His one movie, Why Did I get Married, was somewhat decent (character-wise), but everything else is a stereotype! He said he's trying to get other messages through, but he's not doing that, because when you hear his name, you're automatically thinking "stereotypical blacks!!" However, Spike Lee cannot talk! Some of his shit is terrible too!

  87. 87

    TYLER PERRY HAS IT RIGHT….

  88. 88

Tyler Perry is exploitative of the African American audience, it is a brilliant business plan but he is stuck in his box

  89. 89

I have to go with Tyler Perry. Spike Lee continially perpetuates the things that bring the black communities down. He chooses to show gangs. drugs, and violence as a means of coping with being black in a supposed "white world".
Tyler Perry acknowledges these same problems but tries to convey to viewers that such is not the fault of the world and that by trusting in God and relying on family and friends. anything can be overcome. Tyler Perry has a better grip on the world because he wants to change it through his movies and plays while Spike Lee just want to glorify the tragedies that hurt black families.

Spike is mad because he was poised to tell the african-american experience and never quite got anywhere as sucessful as Tyler has with his own peeps, that's all. Spike Lee needs to get over his delusional self. He should be thankful that he got the opprtunity to get to where he is and work with so many talented people.

  91. 91

Tyler, you fell right into that trap that strange looking dude led you to. He wanted to goad you into some contraversy and he was successful. The proof is in the pudding. You are box office gold and he is box office failure. Spike lee can talk til he's blue in the face but he is totally irrelevant. It's a case of professional jealousy but you should have just told that dude there might be a role for Spike in his next movie as the jealous loser.

  92. 92

Team Perry! I love Tyler! It's not like Tyler's films don't carry an important message! Spike Lee has a stick shoved up his *ss!

  93. 93

i like spike lee joints..but um bafoonery? stfu spike lee. team madea

  94. 94

Spike Lee hasn't made any decent movies since the 90s. All his recent movies were flops and weren't well received by black audiences. Hell, he had one movie where all his actors were in black face. Tyler Perry has a fan base that comes from his plays to his movies. I am a fan of Tyler Perry and love his plays and movies. Spike Lee is just a jealous hearted bitch that always has something to say but aint going to do shit about it.

  95. 95

he's done everything about it. you've never seen anyone do more. the past? really? are we still on that

  96. 96

Both Tyler and Spike make good points.
But it seems like Spike could have given an opinion about Tyler's movies without being harsh and sounding like a jealous high school kid.

did what i did cuz i had a feeling the link had been compromised. some people would be upset if they saw it so i'm glad i did. thought i explained the pull back feeling. was giving you time and space again cuz i've had tooo much viciousness already from being way too nice to the ONE kryptonite that exists in my life. i didn't realize how into this you were, do you realize we are at different phases of this process. do you forget that i've known nothing until 4 days. have you no respect for my one weakness which is why all this shit is possible in the first place. i haven't been afraid of death in forever which is why i do what i do and can make it in the places i've been. you make me weak tough thing, i make you weak overeacting tough thing. you had no problem hitting me up on the phone a long time ago to show your fist but we're too weak to do it again to show you're h…

  98. 98

Spike Lee is a very angry man who has always had a chip on his shoulder. Now he's just mad because another black man is much more successful at the box office than he is. Sour grapes!

  99. 99

why aren't you understanding how much i had to retreat after everything you had said! this is all new to me. the cooking, the clothes, do you really wanna see all shit i've written. you won't give me the chance. why not. i can drop you right back off if it doesn't feel right

Re: HeartsContent – I agree I NEVER liked "Meet the Browns" play or movie. And I have no interest in "House of Payne".
