On its October 25th episode, Showtime's Dexter garnered more viewers than ever during its four season run!

The show drew in over 2 million people, which sets records for the network! They have never had that many viewers on single night, but that might change!

Season 3 of Californication is averaging almost a million audience members per episode, up 60% from last season!

Is Showtime the new HBO?!

Excellent show arguably the best on TV now. All cast members bring a lot to table and writing is excellent. Should win an Emmy next year. The comic strip version of Dexter-Early cuts is also worth your time.

MY FAVORITE SHOW THIS AND NIP TUCK!!!!!

    3. 3

      i wish i had HBO!

no its actually better. While Sex and the City and the Sopranos were excellent in their heyday, Hung and True Blood are just stupid shock value shows. Don't even get me started with that piece of crap Entourage. If I wanted a good buddy comedy, I'd watch Rescue Me. At least it has substance and excellent acting and creative scripts and story lines. Weeds, Californication, United States of Tara, Nurse Jackie, and Dexter are all better shows than the ones above. Even better than my beloved Sopranos, or the game changing SEX and the CITY

dexter is the best! I loved this episode so much! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!

I heart Dexter. Is that sick and wrong? It feels so good. I love you DEX. ;)

I haven't seen the show but I don't think I ever will. Four teenagers in NH watched the show then went to rob a house, stabbing a mother to death and severely injuring her 11 year old daughter.

Because of this senseless act and the ties to this show, I will never watch it.

The Trinity Killer is a formidable opponent. I look forward to Dexter taking him down for Lundy and dear ol'sis. Good times, good times.

Dexter, The Trinity Killer, John LithgowSome people are most familiar with John Lithgow as the well-intentioned if very confused alien commander on six seasons of the NBC sitcom 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN and the hero of the telefilm DON QUIXOTE. Broadway audiences know him for a wide variety of roles, including several that have won him Tony Awards for THE CHANGING ROOM and THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS. Movie viewers have seen him play a warm-hearted transgendered friend in need in THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP, the distressed airplane passenger who sees a something on the wing in TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, the stern reverend in FOOTLOOSE, the mad scientist Dr. Emilio Lizardo and his extraterrestrial possessor Lord John Whorfin in THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI, the kindly dad who opens his home to Bigfoot in HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS and the voice of the diminutive, dictatorial Lord Farquaad in SHREK. Then there are those who know Lithgow for a specific type of role - the killers he’s played over the years in OBSESSION, BLOW OUT, RAISING CAIN (all from director Brian De Palma), CLIFFHANGER and RICOCHET, to name a few.

      and…
Lithgow is returning to his onscreen homicidal habits in the fourth go-round of Showtime’s DEXTER with a season-long arc as Arthur Mitchell, aka the Trinity Killer, who has gone undetected for thirty years. Good thing for the citizens of Miami - and other cities where Arthur has been active - that Michael C. Hall’s serial-killing eponymous hero finally becomes aware of Trinity’s deeds.

      re: stella's mom

I bet the kids also have watched the News (probably FOX NEWS) and the simpsons too - you going to quit watching those shows too? Lame.

I hate violence but love me some Dexter - hands down best on TV.

    13. 13

Showtime is and always has been a thousand times better than HBO. The content and writing of the shows is in a category of its own. I mean c'mon…what's better then The L Word and Weeds!?!?

    14. 14

I just can't get into Dexter … I can't even get past the opening credits

    15. 15

Re: stellasmom – wow. react much? good thing those kids didn't watch a musical. They'd be singing and dancing up and down the streets. creepy.

    16. 16

      Re: stellasmom

It is pretty ignorant to blame actions of people on a tv show (or video games for that matter).

If teens are that easily influenced, their parents should be aware of that, and as a result, should limit the shows the teens watch. If you are going to blame anyone it should be those teens parents. If they knew their kids at all, they wouldn't let them watch any shows with inappropriate things because they would know these shows will influence their kids in a bad way.

It is a cop out to blame tv shows for violence, and frankly I think that it's a way for parents to point responsibility towards something else, rather than taking the blame and saying they should have watched their children closer.

dexter is the best show on tv. so well acted and written. "deb" should win awards for her performance on the finale!

      18

Hell yeahhh, that was an intense episode!! I cried when Lundy died.. Everyone tuned in to see if Deb had too. Can't wait for the next episodeeeee!

    19. 19

Seriously? You actually think the show Dexter had something to do with that? Get a life…that is such a lame stupid statement. If you watched the show even once you would realise just how ignorant that is.

Michael C. Hall drew me in with 6 feet under and I originally only subscribed to Showtime because of Dexter. He is phenomenal in everything he does. Nurse Jacki, Weeds and United States of Tara also have me sucked in like a Dyson. Solid programs with excellent writers and the best of the best actors. *Swoon*

I have been saying Showtime is the new HBO for quite some time. I think the stint Dexter did on CBS helped bring in some new fans, not to mention the DVDs. I love his sister she is so foul mouthed.

    22. 22

Re: stellasmom – Number 1, no TV show makes anyone do anything. Number 2, on the show Dexter does not kill innocent people only killers. He is more of "Serial Vigalante" Those kids commited that murder because they are messed up and didn't have proper parenting.

    23. 23

Loved Michael C. Hall in 6 Feet Under. Love him more in Dexter. Keep up theh good work.

    24. 24

I really wish I could watch this season of Dexter. (I don't get cable)

I suppose I'll just have to wait until the dvd comes out… or watch on youtube. But that just isn't the same.

I will say that seasons 1-3 were amazing, and this is one of my favorite shows.

    25. 25

LOVE DEXTER!!! It's one of the best…if not the best show on tv!!! Love it!! :D :)

    26. 26

The #'s probably went up because Time Warner finally fixed their off track sound and black picture problems with Showtime. It is a kick-ass show though. Showtime totally outdoes HBO.

    27. 27

Dexter is one of the best shows on tv. It is so good you could easily over look Deb's bad acting.

    28. 28

Heck yes, I love it all!

    29. 29

LOVE Michael Hall - ever since 6 Feet Under. Perfect actor to play Dexter.

    30. 30

I have a special deal getting HBO and Showtime yet am moving to a place without those specials. Damn i love True Blood and Nurse Jackie and have just started watching Dexter as of three weeks ago. I told myself dont start watching this cause you are moving but damnit i love it so now i gotta fork over the money , but hey most TV besides cable sucks so i will just have to cut back other things. I agree LOVE LOVE Dexter!!

    31. 31

Michael C. Hall is fuckin SEXY!!!! I love love love Dexter!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Showtime & Dexter!!! I wish I had more cable stations so I could keep up with it! The Dexter book series is amazing too.

    33. 33

      Dexter is my favourite show

    34. 34

Great, so people love watching a show where the main character is a serial killer..
Showtime has some great shows though.

    35. 35

DAMN I HATE NOT HAVING HBO DAMN DAMN DAMN FUCK! I AM DYING TO SEE THIS SHOW!

    36. 36

Re: rachel182 – some of those video games are pretty disgusting though. Like the ones where they go around winning points by committing armed robberies and shooting hookers and cops..

    37. 37

This show is so good that I found myself thinking the other night how safe I would feel if Dexter was my neighbor!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!

    38. 38

The only show worth watching this season.

    39. 39

      Re: gillette717

      Grand Theft Auto?

Yeah, but the point I was making is that they are just games. If your child/teen is unable to distinguish games/tv with reality, then they should not be able to watch/play ANYTHING of that nature.

    40. 40

Dexter is one of the best shows. And probably the most intelligent and most cleverly written show ever :)

    41. 41

Re: stellasmom – your loss its not your fault or the actors fault that there is a lot of retarded people out there who think that because a guy on tv can get away with it so can they. don't just dismiss the show because of somebody elses retarded thoughts

    42. 42

Re: stellasmom – Perhaps you should watch the show, and then you would realize what you wrote does not make much sense! Dexter is, in fact a serial killer, but he only kills people who are killer themselves! If I'm not mistaken, the one exception was a pedophile, which in my opinion, is just as bad as a murderer!

    43. 43

Showtime has the best shows on TV, hands down! Dexter is my favorite show, probably my favorite TV show ever! Michael C. Hall is such an excellent actor, as are the other cast members! Everyone plays their part brilliantly: from the annoying Rita to his sister to the cops!

    44. 44

I cant believe Ive only just discovered this show… oh well, at least I can watch an episode nightly instead of weekly and Im still on season 1

    45. 45

Re: stellasmom – So, you think the upbringing of those kids had nothing to do with the way they acted? I'm sure their behavior also had nothing to do with drugs, bad choices in friends, mental problems, etc. Of course Dexter's to blame, huh?

Btw, I watch it religiously, and I have had no urge to rob or kill anyone….yet.
