how sad that i don't even know if you are calling roger ebert a music critic in a sarcastic way (like, because you don't think he knows what he's talking about beyond movies, or whatever), or if you're just retarded. unfortunately since any wit and cleverness has been sucked out of this blog in recent months, i'm guessing it's the latter.

  2. 2

I can't wait to see it.

  3. 3

I liked Roger Ebert's review of the film.

  4. 4

I am soooo excited to see THIS IS IT! Roger just put a cherry on my already excited piece of cake. I hope the nay-sayers see the movie to. Michael was the greatest performer of all time and I am lucky to have grown up with him.

    Nice.

i'm very happy for michael jackson's surviving loved ones that the movie serves as a small semblance of vindication for the exaggerated reports of michael jackson. i'm sure the movie will not show all aspects of MJ, but what 2 hr movie can? kudos to the director and all involved in producing this historical document.

  7. 7

ah, the magic of editing. dumb, dumb, dumb. who really believes that mj was up for this? someone really leaned on ebert to write a piece like this…all i'm saying…

  8. 8

You are so retarded. "the esteemed music critic"??? Wow, epic fail Perez

  9. 9

i'm going to see it tomorrow!

  10. 10

pretty good review, going to go see it

  11. 11

First off, Ebert is an esteemed FILM critic, not music critic.

Second, I liked his review, and it seems that Ebert always admired Jackson's passion for the craft. Check his review of "The Wiz" as well.

  12. 12

That was chilling to read. Now I can't wait to see it!!!

Frankly I couldn't care less about reviews, good or bad. It's MJ, the greatest performer that ever lived! I can't wait to see the movie tonight.

  14. 14

music critic he is not trying to be!! i saw this last night and it was impossible for me to take my eyes off him!! mesmerizing.!

  15. 15

It's Michael Jackson, what did you expect? Only the best.

  16. 16

I saw This Is It last night and I completely agree with Mr. Ebert's review. It was magical. To see Michael as a person and not just an entertainer was unbelievable. You definitely can't say he didn't know what he wanted. It's a must see movie!

The movie was awesome just watched the first show. This was going to be a spectacular concert and his wardrobe would have been magnificent……damn so sad. I choked up a few times watching him….He looked marvelous. He didn't look like a drug addict or even someone of fifty years old. He kept up with the dancers and he was never an arrogant diva…always polite and with much "love" as he stated and always asking "God to Bless" someone……All I can say is DAMN :(

  18. 18

Thanks so much for showing me that. I'm too poor to go see the movie and reading this review made me happy to know that it's as special as I imagined it would be. I am crying.

  19. 19

typo much? Roger Ebert is only one of the few legendary MOVIE critics we have in America. It's called proof reading, Perez - proof reading!

  20. 20

    I'll be there! Tomorrow.

  21. 21

um, roger ebert is not a music critic.

I have always trusted Roger's taste and since I saw members of MJ's family did go to the movie last night I am now more inclined to see it. It seems like a candidate for a Best Documentary Oscar, the problem is that deadly serious documentary makers and not the general academy membership (actors, directors, etc), will be the ones who chose to or not, to place this in nomination. They can be documentary snobs is what I am saying.
The Hollywood Foreign Press (The Golden Globes) may in fact shower this film with nominations. I have always wondered about the two week limited run, lets see if the producers hold to it or if they extend it like Disney did with Toy Story 1 and 2.

    The MOVIE IS GREAT!!!

MOVIE TIP: Wait till the VERY END OF THE FILM!!! There are tid bits that are shown way after the credits have rolled by :)

Re: brandyc – "ah, the magic of editing. dumb, dumb, dumb. who really believes that mj was up for this? someone really leaned on ebert to write a piece like this…all i'm saying… "

So I'm guessing you haven't seen the film?? Had you seen the film you wouldn't have asked such a question… Mr. Ebert would have received nothing had he told a lie and said that Michael couldn't dance/sing and had to take breaks after every song… What he said was the truth aside from a comment made somewhat leading towards something negative about Michael "he is the only one whose arms are covered at all times by long sleeves" He always wears sleeves due to his vitiligo. Atleast watch the film before passing judgement on something you don't even know about. Michael was amazing (as usual) his dancers was amazing, his band was amazing, and the rest of his crew were amazing!

  27. 27

Re: Michiep21 – Yeah, It's really, really, really GOOD! I didn't want it to end. Michael was seriously outdancing his 20 yr. old back up dancers (no surprise) lol

  28. 28

since when has roger ebert been a music critic?!?

  29. 29

Re: MJ fan59 – How do you know how many breaks MJ took after each song as Brandyc says "editing" - thats the beauty of editing you don't see the joins…and the promoters of his O2 show are hardly going to want MJ looking like he wasn't up for it - it makes them look bad.. editing - editing - it's all in the editing….

  30. 30

I saw the film yesterday and totally agree with Roger Ebert, as well as the comments re: editing. MJ was able to keep up with the dancers and his voice sounded amazing. He was very thin, but seemed fit as well. I was left with the feeling that we were seeing him when he was "at his best". What a loss! He had shown interest in branching out into working in film after the concerts were finished. He was such a creative, artistic soul. I'm sure he had more to give and wish he had been able to do so.

Re: LisaRose – I am a huge fan of MJs and would gladly make sure another fan got to experience the movie (which I saw last night).Post your e-mail on the site and I will help you out.

  32. 32

Re: LisaRose – I take it back. It is not a good idea to post your e-mail address anywhere. Maybe you can see the movie on DVD. Sorry about that.

  33. 33

Re: cattsa – I don't care if Michael took 50 breaks between each performance, though it was obvious to see that Michael's stamina was that of his 20 year old counterparts. Editing can't make Michael perform the wonderful way he was still performing in this rehearsal footage.

  34. 34

Well said…and I whole-heartedly agree. Michael was amazing, and this rehersal showed an entirely different side of him. I'll be one of the first in line to buy the DVD when it comes out. I'm so glad I went to see it. I just hope more people will give it a chance so they can see the man behind the media-hyped headlines. He was a beautiful person.
