This Is It Doesn't Premiere To HUGE Numbers!

The premiere of the Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It, brought the MJ fans out in droves Tuesday night, but Sony is a lil' worried!
Even though the doc earned just $2.2 mil overnight, the execs at Sony are crossing their fingers that the numbers won't taper off by the weekend's close!
Luckily, critics are predicting This Is It will earn $15 million by the end of Wednesday, not to mention the massive flood of $$$$$$ coming in from screenings overseas.
Guess we'll have to wait and see!

LOL!!
whys this under 50 cent you gimp?
I went today! Just came back…
The venue was less than half full… It's not one of the more popular cinemas in here either way, but it was not very different from when I booked it like a month ago!!
Anyway, I don't care about that.
Enjoyed very much the film, was very touching. My eyes went watery in a moment…
And hope the essential message from Michael, LOVE the others and the Planet, is not forgotten…
Whatefs. Here In Holland This Is It is already # 1. MJ 4-everrrrrrrrr
good, you fixed it, stupid fuck…
it was the best movie perez stfu…
Does it really matter if the film makes a lot of money?!? Shouldn't the film be about celebrating Michael, his career, and to show everyone his preparation for his would-have been concerts. I do understand that Sony should be a little concerned about the film's profits, BUT, that shouldn't be there only concern! Wasn't the film supposedly made for Jackson's fan - and not for money?
Fuck Sony. They didn't even care about pleasing fans, all they wanted was to make big $$$$$$ off Michael's death.
like thats bad… i love michael jackson
Used to be an MJ fan, but totally lost all taste for him after the child abuse allegations, Jesus Juice, his plastic surgery problems, all his drug problems, his "milk". I think the guys name of Jacko Wacko is fitting. I'm not suprised he died young. I'm sorry to see anyone pass away young, but he was not right in the head. I think it's pretty sick people are still trying to make money off the guy.
Anyone else sick of Michael Jackson and his absurd affairs? I really don't want to hear anything about him again. let it rest. Who the heck wants to see a movie of him singing? Maybe just a bunch of crazy Europeans.
I'll see the DVD when it comes out…
Lady of my life & I just can't stop loving you
this is hardly a movie to go see in the theaters, I love Michael Jackson but this is totally profiting on his name and image rather than anything truly concrete. I'll watch this on bootleg eventually because its really about him and not having the movie do some huge numbers. Fuck Joe Jackson
couldnt even beat hannah montana!!! LOL
what excuses will his delusional fans think of???
Re: Amsterdamgirl –
and how much money does holland contribute to the worldwide box office!?????
LOL nothinggg
Just saw it, it was great!
But if you're not a true MJ-fan you'll probably get a little bored… I recommend seeing it at the movies - don't wait until the dvd-release. It won't be the same - the big screen, the sound - it's the closest thing to a real concert.
Re: bensdad78 – Your LAME!!!
The allegations that were charged against MJ were never founded and he was AQUITTED!!!! Hellooooo…WAKE UP! Whatever "surgeries" Mj had, SO WHAT! Its his fricken face, he can do what he wants. Thats doesnt detract from his God-Given talent to give music, dance, and love to the world.
Anyways, hope you open your mind just a Teeny Tiny Bit and accept people, flaws and all!
The Movie was Great!
did you see how awful Paula Abdul looked? You can see it here

15 million from a Wednesday is major money. This movie will probably have lots of repeat business. Most Wednesday releases drop off each day of the weekend. The international sales for this picture will probably set a record when compared to the percentage of the domestic take. This is kind of a unique movie experience, I don't think anybody can predict accurately where it is going. Reviews seem to be universally positive.
its kinda shocking to me that it isn't more popular.
I will say there is a lot of domestic advertising for a movie that you would not think would need this vigorous an advertising campaign to bring in viewers.
Seriously who cares. The guy is dead already, and his family have milked a fortune already. Enough He is only a dead pop freak ass. Such a frigging fuss to make millions ..it is sick
Re: LV-Entergetic – Yeah they want people to THINK that it is a tribute for Michael…
-but as sad as it sounds it's all for the $$$$…..thats reality
I personally haven't seen the movie but to be honest I do not want to contribute to anything that is making money off his death. I do not want 1 cent of MY money go to that money hungry dad Joe Jackson….
I doubt that any of the profits will go to Michael's kids or charities just like Michael would have wanted…..
loved loved lovedddddd the movie….kinda sad at the end though
Yeah Perez, you're right. The movie ONLY made over 2 million dollars in ONE NIGHT, meaning one showing as it premiered at midnight most places (the few that are willing to open for a midnight on a school night). It's so laughable that everything Michael Jackson has done for the last two decades is deemed by the public as a failure when the numbers simply suggest the exact opposite. People said Invincible was a failure, yet it sold 7 million copies worldwide on ZERO promotion from Sony or media. Need I remind everyone that in the past year, while everyone was blabbing about how he wouldn't be able to sell tickets (Perez included) he sold 750,000 tickets in five minutes flat. Name me on other person on the planet who could do that. Exactly. I think it's time people wake up, stop reading the lies, and start getting the facts. Obviously, Michael Jackson wasn't a washed up has been, and he still isn't. Good for him for being 50 years old and having the bravery to put on a series of killer shows.
Re: CuddlyCarla – Exactly!
Re: CuddlyCarla – Very true and well said.
um 2.2 mil for pretty much midnight showings… THATS NOT A BAD THING RU REALLY THIS STUPID?
i think that the producers of sony were stupid oh hyped the movie so much and compared it to other movies like harry potter. because i think it will not get huge numbers in america because americans are manipulated by teh media and believe all the bad things they said about mj. but also the bad thing the headlines will be that micahel flop and the media will continue to bring him down.but i suposse sony will be happy to see once againg michael fail.
Lame. Truly lame.
I saw it last night in a very packed theater. It was FANTASTIC!!! I was very sad and very happy at the same time. I loved it! Totally worth seeing - especially since some people seem to have forgotten what an amazing performer he was. All the personal drama aside…..
Now why would I waste $10 on this shit when I can watch "To Catch A Predator" or "Reanimator" on You Tube for free?
SPOILER ALERT:
HE DIES IN THE END.
There were no crowds where I went to see it yesterday. A lot of empty seats..but then again I went to the showing at 4:20pm on a weekday. Then they lined up people for the next showing, again just a handful of people. Lets see what the numbers will be for the weekend. BTW, it was good. MJ had a few new moves..not much. It would have been a great concert with the best feature being the special effects on the huge LCD screen; Thriller was going to be off the chain! I saw 3 levels of skinny MJ, at one point during a split screen, it was the right screen, after the number, He walk back to one of the dancers to get his glasses and he could barely stand. I could see he was weak and wobbly…guess that's why they showed it in a split screen. Pretty good film. Love him always
I SAW IT LAST NIGHT AND I LOOOOOVED IT ! I HAD FORGOTTEN HOW AWESOME HE WAS. THE WHOLE THEATRE REALLY GOT INTO IT, CLAPPING AND DANCING AND SINGING ALONG. AMAZING & VERY EMOTIONAL. HE STILL HAD IT: OLD MOVES AND NEW ONES !!
