"Give Life Meaning. Fed Up With Hunger.

Right now, there are one million people in L.A. who are hungry, who don’t have enough to eat or have access to proper nutrition. That’s one out of eight Angelenos who can’t do anything about it – but you can. And it’s simple. Educate. Participate. Advocate. Donate. Do one of these. Do all of these. Do something. Hunger isn’t just a homeless problem. It’s a white problem, a black problem, a Jewish problem, a Muslim problem…it’s our problem.

As a community, we can feed the hungry. We can raise our collective voice to change legislation that perpetuates the issue. We can build gardens, hold food drives and demand fresh produce and healthier choices to those who have no choices. Together, we can end hunger in Los Angeles.

If you’re hungry for change, if you’re fed up with hunger, if you want to do your part to make the world a better place – join our movement, and give life meaning."

i never sent you this one when you were over there: again this dude was crazy but hey:
i took a trip to spain
no one knew i hit that plane
off to arcadia before i slave my brain
alone, not lost, on a metro
    just could not let go
    oh she's my escape
    before my wake,
    my funeral and my drop
    i will not stop
i will be a dream alll day
though i'd have to return in 7 days
    but no not crazed
just enough more for more dancing with a page
    the gentlest rage

What a blessing to see a true foundation emerging from the LA community. It feels wonderful to give to charity; but it is much more of a blessing to become involved in the giving. That way, you don't need any agency to hand out your blessings. YOU get to meet your brothers and sisters in need of your hand. And; that is just the most amazing "tax" receipt you will ever get. I understand that God MIGHT actually look at these kind of tax receipts; the ones where you reached out to your neighbour in need and gifted them with your excess. I was blessed today. I was wanting some items to make my room a home. I went to a community church that has a wonderful "free" shopping space. I waliked in for the first time. They only wanted to know my postal code so that they can know who they are helping. I shopped with dignity and went to the cash-out. I paid with a smile. I got two back. We ALL won. Direct giving is a blessing to all. And; when agencies aren't needed you can stop paying your wartime income taxes. It is 2009. They were supposed to be a "temporary" measure……

A special thanks to the people that bring their donations to my local community "chest". I love the sweater and I hope my room-mate likes the boots. If not; I'll take them back on Saturday and he can choose his own. Neat, huh?

I donate monthly to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Phoenix Rescue Mission Foodbank and to St. Mary's Foodbank. $50.00 each. It's all I can afford, but I hope it helps. I started donating to the L.A. foodbank years ago when fans of the show Angel all donated money trying the save the show from cancellation. It didn't work, but we raised over $45,000 and I've been donating since.
