It's ultimately in the hands of the housewives themselves!
Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives, has signed a deal keeping him on the show for the eighth and ninth seasons!
The show is currently in its sixth and guaranteed for at least seventh because the main actors have a contract until 2011. If the actors wish to carry on in their roles they could be on the air until 2013.
We think they would be pretty foolish to pass up a big bucks deal like that! Because really Teri Hatcher, what else are you going to do?
Desperate Housewives is one of the best shows for ABC, being the top program in its time slot for all 5 weeks of the season so far. It's also a top-selling DVD franchise all over the world.

I think the show has slipped a lot the past few years. I can't see how it's going to make it until 2013.
Stopped after a few episodes of Season 2. Got really retarded when that black family moved it. It just reeked of "Look at us, we are so mysterious, we have something to hide."
Yes plenty of people do watch it. You must live under a rock if you don't know that. It's always on the top or near the top in the ratings.
I'd rather see it end to be honest. Much like "Lost", go out on the top and leave people missing it and wanting more.

Re: Quemical – that was a very awful sublpot and season. they put the black family on there because black folk were complaining that there were no black people on the show. the show has imprived greatly from that season although not as good as the 1st season.

i would love to see terry hatcher be killed of or something as i think she is the most irritating character. its hard to believe that any man would want her character because she has wayyyy too many issues. also, the character of lynette needs to be softened up a bit. she is always so negative. i would hate to be married to a nag like her.

I can honestly say that i love the show and have never missed an episode. It's witty, hilarious, as well as campy. Its a great show and I look forward to a few more seasons. Love it!

EVERY episode is great. I never intended to watch this show–and I've seen every single one now! It is very well written, all actors are perfect for their parts in this. I do miss Edie though.

Housewives is my FAVORITE show of all. I've never missed an episode from day one.
so far not so into this season do not like the "new" family the accents especially the fathers is so dang fake he just drives me nuts it better step up pretty soon or the ratings will fall and hey perez why do you always have to pick on someone calling out terri that way what the hell did she ever do to you
