With their tracks selling like hotcakes on iTunes, it was bound to happen sooner or later!

The Glee cast recording of Journey's Don't Stop Believin has been certified gold after being downloaded (legally) more than 500,000 times!

Actress Lea Michele says:

"The great thing about our show is that some of the songs that we do sound very close to the original and others are completely re-done and 'mashed up.' It's great that we've brought these old songs back and we've put a new twist to them, while still honoring the amazing songs that they are."

7 of the cast recordings are on the iTunes top 200 chart and singles from Glee have been downloaded more than 2 million times! Matthew Morrison proudly states of the show:

"I feel like we're revitalizing the music industry. The younger generation hears songs they never heard before through out show. And I'll be bold as to say that I think some of the records we're doing are even better than the originals."

Volume 1 of the Glee soundtrack is out November 3rd.

Will U be buying it?

"revitalizing the music industry?" really? I think someone may be getting a little full of himself…

Better than the originals??? Excuse me??? That reminds me of when Milli Vanilli said they had more talent than 'The Beatles".
I wanna hear Matthew "shower boy" Morrison sing a capella live.

It didn't take that long for these kids to get big heads. I will never buy any of their records.

yes yes yes! love the music.. it makes me soo happy! almost as happy as bsb music :)

First off Matthew Morrison isn't one of the kids and just cause he said that doesn't mean he has a big head. Every time they do a cover the original moves up on the charts as well. The cast version of Don't stop believing did go higher than Journey's. And do you think Broadway tunes like One My Own and Maybe this time which both reached at least in to the top 50 every did that before?

Revitalize might be strong, but you can't deny it hasn't been impressive.

Why the hate, it is just so rampant.

The show is great, the music is great… and I don't know if these quotes are real, but if so, please look up humility, respect and graciousness in the dictionary, guys!

    9. 9

No, I won't buy any of their soundtracks.
I like the show .. it's very cute and funny .. but the music is NOT better than the originals .. not even close.
Take a big slice of humble pie, Matthew Morrison.

Re: Tara17 – What guys Matt M. is the only one who said anything questionable. The other quote by Lea Michele was saying they wanted to honor the original, that seems pretty humble.

no, but that's cause i bought most of the songs individually already.

and i agree with marytom, and on some level what matt morrison says it true, we wouldnt normall listen to the originals as much as we do/ if at all if they hadn't popularized it. may be he's a little overconfident, but hey, it's good that he has such strong faith. and seriously there's a reason why all these BIG stars want to be a part of this project and are ALLOWING them to use their songs. clearly, if stars like kristin cheno and josh groban and such are coming onto the show and others like beyonce, rihanna, katy perry, and billy joel are OFFERING them use of their own songs, then they must be doing something right.

I have to admit…I love GLEEE!!!!!
