Larry David Feels The Heat From Christians For Urinating On Jesus
Select Christians are very displeased with comedian Larry David and the latest episode of his HBO show, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
In the episode, Larry's character accidentally urinates on a painting of Jesus. Because he's taking a pill that makes his urine exit the body more, umm, forcefully, it splashes onto the painting giving it the appearance of a tear on Jesus' face. Other characters think its a miracle after seeing the "tear" and hilarity ensues.
We think it's pretty funny but Deal Hudson of InsideCatholic.com isn't laughing. He says:
"Why is it that people are allowed to publicly show that level of disrespect for Christian symbols? If the same thing was done to a symbol of any other religions — Jewish or Muslim — there'd be a huge outcry. It's simply not a level playing field. Somebody should [apologize]. When is it going to stop? When is common sense going to dictate that people realize this willingness of artists to do to Christianity what they would never do to Judaism or Islam?"
As expected HBO responded to the controversy. They say:
"Anyone who follows Curb Your Enthusiasm knows that the show is full of parody and satire. Larry David makes fun of everyone, most especially himself. The humor is always playful and certainly never malicious."
It's true! If anyone is the butt of the joke on Curb, it's almost always Larry! Bill Donohue of the Catholic league begs the question: "Would he think it's comedic if someone urinated on a picture of his mother."
Actually, in the context of a television episode, we think he would!

This is flat out inappropriate. As are most of these comments.
I agree that religion is used in humorous situations, and yes it can be pretty funny, but there is a line to be drawn when you are being so blatantly disrespectful. To make fun of Jesus is one thing, to piss on him and call that drop of pee a divine act is outrageous! There were riots over a controversial Muhammad cartoon because they were disrespectful! Wake up people.
Don't doubt that there are fanatics out there of all religions! And seriously, don't antagonize that shit!

No, sorry, but Larry David will go to hell for this one. Just like Unglorious Bass-terds; there is nothing funny about this descreation of the faith of millions of persons all over the globe. WE didn't piss on your faith symbol. STOP thinking it is funny to taunt God. OR make fun of the Holocaust. It is not humour. It is vile, vomitous and evil. I firmly think that this is true. I'm an atheist but i agree with the priest. If that had happened to a symbol of Islam or Judaism there would have been hell to pay now. You can't pick to mock those who won't react.
Urinating on such a symbol is a disgrace.
I dare any comedian to pee on a Menorah and see what happens. Hollywood Jews, including Larry David, would go ballistic.

He's gone too far. It's interesting to see that this is dismissed so easily when it comes to offending (many) Christians (by the way Christianity (which includes Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, etc.) is the dominiant religion in the world with over 2 billion people (compared to over 1 billion Muslims).
And yet some Jews are up in arms if "Merry Christmas" is used instead of the stupid "Happy Holidays". Or if some airport only has a Christmas tree without a giant Hanuukkah candle holder. Yes, this seems to make the news…
