Dennis Hopper Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer

After being rushed to the hospital for dehydration earlier this month, it seems Dennis Hopper was given a more serious diagnosis - prostate cancer.
Sooooo sad!
According to his manager, Hopper has cancelled all travel plans and is committed to focusing on his treatment. The Easy Rider star is participating in a "special program" at the University of Southern California in hopes of battling the disease.
"We're hoping for the best," said his rep, Sam Maydew, who would not elaborate on his condition.
Hopper recently finished filming the second season of Crash and was forced to cancel his appearance at an exhibition of his photography and artwork in Melbourne.

Prostate cancer needs a better awareness campaign. One in six men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime (that number is higher for men of color). How come so much money is given to breast cancer awareness (also a very worth cause) while prostate cancer awareness is virtually ignored?
My dad just passed from prostate cancer!!! Every man should be getting checked as soon as they turn 40. If my dad was diagnosed properly 2 years earlier he would still be alive. The doctor originally diagnosed dad with an over active blader and would not do a proper PSA test (The doctor was in his 70's and really didn't give a shit anymore). Thankfully my dad went to a new doctor and he ordered a bunch of tests and got the right diagnosis. He bravely battled cancer for 12 years!!! God bless you dad!!

That's very sad to hear, especially when his rep says "we're hoping for the best" regarding his condition. That's not good. Mr. Hopper was wonderful in 24. I hope he makes a complete recovery from his illness.
