Mad Max Is Back! Charlize Set To Star (Not As Max)

The Mad Max franchise will be resurrected! The only question is, will Mad Mel Gibson return for it?
That remains to be seen but it has been announced that Charlize Theron will be joining the post-apocalyptic fun! She has signed on to star in the fourth chapter of the series, titled Mad Max: Fury Road.
As the film doesn't start shooting until next August, the production still has time to sway Mel to return. But, if he declines, the show will go on without him, says director George Miller, who also helmed the first three films: "It could be Mel, it could be anyone."
Hm, interesting. Who else could it be?
Any suggestions?

It can't be anyone except Mel. He IS mad max. The movie will blow goats without him. They need to bring everyone back, including the dude the flew the chopper. I say bring back the Toe Cutter.

Just an FYI Miller only directed part of Part III, Thunderdome, with George Olgivie directing the other half due to the on set death of a Miller co-worker/friend. Many feel this is why the film has a disjointed feel. I loved Aunty Entity. But overall would rather watch 2Pac's "California Love" video.

I hope this doesn't happen. The originals were great, especially the first two, rich with minimalism and unconventional story line. Hollywood will remove any hint of cinema and replace it with explosions and titties.

One of the key things about the originals is that they did not have a cheesy romantic sub-plot tacked onto them. I think Theron is a fine actor (and a total FOX) but her role will certainly be as Max's love interest, effectively killing any chance of me seeing the new movies.

Plus, at least the first two films were watershed events for the Australian film community. They are regarded, rightfully, as amongst the best Aussie movies ever made. I don't think people would like it if they remade "Citizen Kane" or "It's A Wonderful Life"
