Though David Letterman's sexcapades with female staffers could have cost of him his legendary late night show, it doesn't seem like American audiences really care.
His ratings are still solid!
Whether people are tuning in to support him or hate him, they are tuning in and viewership has even grown by 10% compared to last year. The Late Show's weekly average rating in the adults 18-49 demographic has been a consistent 1.0 or 1.1, and has held steady an average of 4.4 million total viewers.
Guess in Dave's case, sex sells!
Let's see if it has the same affect for Jimmy Kimmel.

Is this surprising? When Schwarzennegar (sp?) groped and sexually harassed women and women complained it only increased his popularity rating. Dave is disgusting and abused his power and messed up a bunch of peoples' lives. He's a misogynist plain and simple. Just b/c people still watch him and watch him more…doesn't negate what he did.

Dave Letterman is a putrid entitled old man who clings to the concept of MALE PRIVELEGE like a lifeline. He's pathetic and ugly and, unfortunately, so are all the doormat women in his life. Daves ratings are up because he is actually funny. I watched his Halloween show the other night and laughed so hard. I love him!!

I absolutely LOVE LETTERMAN. This guy acts normal and humble ALL the time. I for one believe he has integrity. HE WAS NOT MARRIED when he had these relationships!!! PEOPLE Wake up!! HOW did we all know what was going on in his life and relationships at the time? Its totally his business. I can't even beleive his wife is mad because, they WERE NOT married or engaged. Maybe hitting a rough patch. He is human.
Its not news and not our business. I personally think he went out on a limb even acknowledging it on his show. Dave didn't have to do that. I'm an avid fan and supporter. I always like him and always will. He's also VERY hot to me! LOVE LETTERMAN!! He excels as a talk show host.. Love him! He's a humble guy that acts regular. Including in his mistakes. Most Americans have NO RIGHT to criticize someone (celebrity or not) for having an affair.
Letterman's viewers would be the biggest hypocrits of all time, if they stopped watching his show because of his cheating behavior.

Personally, I have never been cheated on so I don't know the severity of the harm that is caused, but the thing about cheating is…it causes great harm to the person being cheated on. Is it okay to cause great harm to someone? How about putting it that way?

From what I've learnt from my Psychology Stats classes, more representative, global surveys indicate that 15% of american women have admitted to having extramarital sex, and 25% of american men have admitted to the same thing! Most internet and magazine surveys use biased samples, and that is why they come up with statistics like the ones you mentioned.
