This is a first look of James Franco in his much hyped appearance on General Hospital.

You know, most actors graduate from crappy daytime TV, not downgrade to it.

James' first day will be on November 20th.

      It has previously been reported that he was doing this for research with a limited filming schedule and a limited run on the air. Does anybody know if the research story still stands?

      Me Me Me! I am totally tuning in, but I tune in regularly so I don't think I count. I do hope James Franco can bring up the GH ratings. I love this soap!!

      of course doing cheesy VH1 specials or rapping with other Z list "celebs" is much better than doing a once groundbreaking show which will forever be cemented in Pop-Culture. Perez misses the mark again IMO - General Hospital may not be movie quality but its a far cry from crappy daytime TV. Maybe James is an actor who does it for the experience of acting and isn't just out for the money and fame?

      I don't consider this *downgrading* since I'm sure he is not doing it for the money, or for lack of roles. I think he is doing from a genuine desire to learn and experience something new. I don't watch GH, but I will tune in just to see what he's like on it! I do think soap stars get a bad rap…They are probably some of the hardest workers in that industry considering how much they tape, and how much less they get paid.

      It's research for a movie he's doing. He's got quite a few projects for the next few months but he approached TPTB over at GH because he wanted to research for a role. And it's not the first time he's done it. When he played James Dean, he stopped talking to his family because Dean wasn't close to his. He also was "homeless" to prep for his part in the De Niro flick City by the Sea.

      I've been watching GH since 95'! i'm kind of excited for this. I was also happy to see the original Lucky back. i like JJ and all but as my hubby pointed out, how can they trade a big buff dude (greg vaughn) for a smaller guy that looks barely old enough to have graduated high school?

      Shite I tune in everyday! It's called soapnet and a dvr. He is playing Valentin and he is out for blood. He is a badarse in this one. Cute as hell to boot! Him and Nicolas are going to butt heads. Let the drama began. I've got my DVR set up already!

      Re: obbie doobie! – Hey Obbie! That because Jonathan Jackson created the role of Lucky. He is the original Lucky! But, the old Lucky will be on the Bold and Beautiful! So, he has work. I was shocked when they announced that Jonathan was coming back! I just know that the old Lucky is appearing on another Soap it could be All My Children since they are moving to California or Bold and Beautiful. I will miss him. But, hey Sonny, Jax and Jason are hot. All of GH men are hot. So James has his work cut out. Let the games began.

      Oh and i know Kelly Monaco's character, Sam, is with Jason Morgan but can i please get a hot hook up between these two? That would be smokin'!! They can work it as she's just conning him or something.

I wonder if he has a thing for the SISTAS?…BTW Perez, he is a passionate actor who completely transforms into the character he is projecting. Did you not see him in the movie MILK? H.E.L.L.O!

      My best friend's mother is the Stage Manager for GH, and she told me months ago that James would be coming to film for a bit. He is a very close friend of one of the actors, so they were able to get him to come in as a personal favor. Plus he gets to take some time off to film something hokey with his pal.

      It is an odd move from a celebrated actor, but, he is soooooo beautiful! I wish him well.

      Once again Perez displays his complete and utter ignorance! Daytime television is not crappy and is not a downgrade for an actor with any knowledge of the form. Soap performers frequently must do 20-40 pages per day as opposed to 10 per day for film and nighttime television performers. It's the last great training ground for actors left in America and General Hospital is one of the best. Franco should be GRATEFUL he's being permitted to appear on the show with the likes of Steve Burton and Maurice Benard, both of whom are brilliant, as well as the other members of the cast who are likewise brilliant and talented!

      Re: Paris France – Where did you get this info?? His character's name will be Franco not Valentin. Valentin is part of a Cassidine story that was pushed back till after december. James will be working within the mob storyline not the Cassadine's.
