Baldwin Excited For The Oscars, Even If Everyone Else Isn't

Filed under: Alec Baldwin

oscarhosts.jpg

The more we think about it, the more we really aren't on board with the whole Alec Baldwin & Steve Martin co-host deal for the Oscars.

We were sort of hoping that at the last minute, they'll drop out and Neil Patrick Harris could take over.

No such luck, as Alec is already aware that most people will consider his hosting gig as the "worst choice in the world", but he doesn't care. He is sticking it out.

But while he won't be stepping aside, he also won't be giving into any of Steve's hobbies for the telecast, like his love for the banjo. So there goes our musical number.

We swear, if at any point they come out dressed as "The Festrunk Brothers," we're turning it off!

    Bald-Wins.

    Phag

    Terrible terrible idea. The Oscars couldn't blow it more if they booked Pee Wee Herman. I won't be watching, that's for sure and I usually have a big Oscar party.

    what are you talking about alec baldwin has every reason to be invited to host. His career has been ten fold what neil patrick harris has- i like NPH too.
    but dont understand why you hate alec? do you think you should be hosting
    lol. come on your not good enough

  5. 5

    Steve Martin is a genius in comedy and Alec Baldwin is getting there himself… The Oscars aren't just about song numbers, it's about film. The two together are clearly a better choice than NPH.

    I think they'll both be great !! They're both funny and good at hosting things so they're a good choice.
    Perez, just close your eyes and pretend they're a gay couple…then you'll be on board with it.

  7. 7

    Is he wearing lipstick?

  8. 8

    Why do you have to hate heterosexual people?
    fucking bigot.

  9. 9

    Perezerrs, back down just a bit. They are both hilarious and I can't wait to see what they do. Steve's hokey brand of humor mixed with Alec's perfect comedic timing should be a win. NPH would not be a good choice for the oscars, as much as i love him. He would be okay, but steve and alec makes much more sense.

    Neil Patrick, while incredibly awesome at The Emmys, should not be pigeon-hold as an awards show host for the rest of his career. You should wish for bigger and better things for NPH. Alec and Steve are funny and engaging… it could be good. Why be so critical?

  11. 11

    If they were gay you'd be all for it.

  12. 12

    They will be good

  13. 13

    I can't believe that Alec Baldwin still gets favorable publicity. He was an emotionally abusive husband and father. That was shown to the world. But yet, everyone just ignores it. I wonder why?

  14. 14

    Steve Martin is a legend he will absolutely kill it if they let him do his thing. Baldwin - not sure. Neil Patrick Harris?? Are you fucking serious?? Sorry, but no, that lightweight wouldn't be able to carry it. He was nothing more than medicore at the Emmy's - you really need to stop with the shameless kissing of his gay ass.

  15. 15

    Great! Two self absorbed pompous idiots. Just what the self absorbed pompous Oscars needs.

    This is really gonna suck.

  16. 16

    I forgot to add..

    self absorbed pompous idiots whose sense of humor is no longer relevant or funny, just exasperating and embarrassing.

    I'd rather see one of CRAIG FERGUSON's puppets host the Oscars!

  17. 17

    I don't get the backlash AT ALL. Alec Baldwin is a brilliant actor with impeccable comic timing. He'll be great as a host.

    A special note to SOMEBODYSMART - Nobody give a shit about that crap they report as "news" on Entertainment Tonight so you can pretend as if you know the man and his life.

  18. 18

    Re: LadyPaul56I agree. Not only does Baldwin have movie credibility, he has been highly praised for his hosting/narration duties with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He won plaudits for accompanying the orchestra on its historic visits to North Korea and Vietnam.
    .
    So this is not a case of an inexperienced neophyte being thrown into a situation that he is not qualified for - quite the opposite.

  19. 19

    enough of this gay shit already, shove it in societies face, society will shove right back up your ass.

  20. 20

    I dunno…These guys are old and gross. Can't they find someone younger? Someone a little more unpredictable?? How ’bout Levi Johnston and Jon Goselin?

  21. 21

    ~~~~ALEC IS AMAZINGLY FUNNY, HE WILL DO GREAT!!!!~~~~
  22. 22
    BALDWIN is funny as shit & the Academy is damn lucky to get him ! ! !
    23
    Their Pr team trying to talk that shit up.
    I like Steve Martin but the Oscars are going to be boring as he!! I'm skipping it.
  24. 24
    I thought that was Jerry Springer
  25. 25
    Oh pleez
    something's
    gonna
    go
    down
    :)
  26. 26
    I think Baldwin should do it ALONE because Martin is a bore!!!! Martin is a crashing bore!!!!
  27. 27
    Baldwin is hilarious, but no let's hire NPH - who already hosts some awards show, and we can hear the same material over again - just so we have a gay host. Heterophobe!
  28. 28
    Geeze whats with the hate, these are 2 great actors who are completely relevant to the world right now. I like you Perez and all but can you get off the whole Neil Patrick Harris hosting everything?! I love Neil and we've seen how good he is at hosting but it would be ridiculous to have him hosting everything and the Oscars at that, he's a TV star. What the hell is wrong with Alec Baldwin, he rules and he's way over due. Also there will obviously be a musical number so stop crying. Re: Hillsborough – Are you serious? Some party.
  29. 29
    Re: old men are gross – Are you fucking 12? You're gross.
  30. 30
    Re: cureme – Too funny, " I usually throw a party" I'm sure the oscar people feel bad that Hillsborough and his/hers chocolate lab won't be eating their bags of nachos and dipping them in their salsa with all their wicked cool friends while watching the oscars. I also disagree with the Peewee comment as I believe Paul Rubens would be a great host although I wouldn't want to be in the front row in case he pulled the old salt my popcorn trick again.
  31. 31
    For heaven's sake Perez, you can't have gays doing everything. I do believe if Alec was gay, you would LOVE him as the choice for host. I think they are both funny men and will be great, as would NPH, but sometimes you just have to face the fact that straight men are also capable.
  32. 32
    I think it's fabulous; just what the show needs! Brilliant!
  33. 33
    Oh No….not Alec Baldwin with his perpetual trout pout. Just about anybody, except P. Diddy, would have been a better choice. I never miss the Academy Awards but this year between the crappy movies and Alec Baldwin…BORING and pre-production has not even started. The Oscar show will be a hard sell this year!
