Although Shrek the Musical didn't do as well as hoped, the movies have always done BIG business!
Now, Dreamworks execs are hoping to cash in on their franchise making a Shrek spinoff!
The concept? It'll be centered on Shrek's secondary sidekick, Puss in Boots.
Tom Wheeler is writing the flick's screenplay for the spinoff, which will detail how Puss and Shrek first met.
Joining the cast to voice the flick will be Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek. And Zach Galifianakis is said to be in negotiations to voice Humpty Dumpty.
The DreamWorks Animation movie is set to hit theaters on November 4, 2011.

You know what? I'm actually excited about this. Shrek was getting kind of old anyway, the first two movies were excellent but the third one sucked major ass. Puss in Boots is great though, I love him and I really hope they don't fuck this up.

This sounds cool and all but didn't the 2nd movie show shrek and puss meeting for the first time? wouldn't it make more sense if the movie was about puss before he met shrek?

Sweet!!! Puss n Boots was my favorite book as a child and I was thrilled when he turned up in Shrek. Antonio is the perfect voice for him, and I'm sooo freaking excited to see this movie!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! Puss in Boots was my favorite character, so I'm excited but also a little apprehensive at the thought of creating a spinoff from Shrek… if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
