Aussie's Don't Like It When You Lipsync, Britney!

britwenn5379526.jpg

If this is the case, Australia is going to see a lot less American talent coming through their ports of call!

The folks of Australia are looking to pass a "name and shame" law that would require artists to claim ahead of time if they plan on singing live or lip-syncing through their performance. The news of this new system comes as Britney Spears arrives to perform 14 shows for the Aussies while charging upwards of $1500 for a ticket and will not be singing live!

Of course, we all know that she'll probably lip-sync, but folks down under think it is unfair to charge some extreme prices when patrons aren't getting a full "live" show.

Virginia Judge, the Fair Trading Minister and Minister Assisting the Premier on the Arts, said she would much rather people go see local talent than a costly "Mickey Mouse performance" :

"Let's be clear - live means live. If you are spending up to $200 I think you deserve better than a film clip. The NSW Government would be happy to look at options, such as a disclaimer on a ticket which would warn consumers a performance is pre-recorded."

You're missing the point lady - we already know they don't sing live, and we don't care! Brit-Brit's tour promoter down under, Steve Dixon, put it perfectly when responding:

"This is a pop spectacular, this is a showband show. You come for the experience. There is a lot to see about this show, there's nothing like this in the world. Britney Spears will entertain you, that's what people come for. We absolutely give them a show."

And it's true - she does put on quite a show!

But then again, we could see where some people would be unhappy.

We're torn on this one.

What do U think?

Yes, it is possible to sing and dance live at the same time. Pink even hung upside down and sang live on the VMA's. However, in Britney's case she simply can't sing, even her fans know that. Doesn't mean she's not a good 'entertainer' (ever listen to pre-Evita Madonna? She couldn't sing either). For entertainers where lip-synching isn't obvious, a disclaimer or a label such as 'show' vs 'performance' is a good idea.

Re: luluhalls – Your an idiot, if Pink can sing and dance, so can britney, and pink's performance are much more extreme. & why would Australia be jealous of not having a Britney down under? That's pathetic.

THIS IS EMBARRASSING! I was at the first concert in Australia in Perth. All Australians know she lip-syncs: AND WE LOVE HER ANYWAY. The show was AMAZING… if you want a brilliant vocal performance, go to the opera. It was awesome to have a star like her come to Australia. Her dancing was great! Most people adore her; it was just the tiny minority making a lot of noise. The show was wonderful and most people thought so. Please don’t judge Australia on the small few who are idiots.

We love Britney for her huge shows, catchy tunes, and "it" factor. Not necessarily her vocal talent. You know what you're getting with a Britney concert, and if you know anything about her you aren't going to hear her sing Ave Maria.

Umm…Lady GaGa puts on a pop spectacular as well. But she actually sings live and dances with way more energy than Britney. And she charges a lot less for tickets.

Britney's people are taking all our money!

I went to Pink not that long ago and she was amazing!! And singing live too, imagine that?!?! If Britney doesn't have the talent to sing live why go on tour? Especially around the world!

"lip synching is an art in itself." If that doesn't represent the dumbing down of America nothing does. As far as I'm concerned, if you want my $$$ you have to work for it. What Britiney is doing is a scam and the American public led the way in letting her get away with it. The Aussies aren't so enamored.

When she first startred her tour they said she was liypsyncing. If the Aussie's were following her they would have known. Then they shouldnot have bought tickets. Why would anyone pay to hear a person lipsync. She doesn't have the voice to do it live like the old timers that still do and sound GREAT!
