I'm sure Rihanna did hit him….but that gives a man NO excuse to beat a woman to the extent that he beat her…should women be able to hit men and get away with it. I want to say thank you to Rihanna for going public with her story. As a former victim of domestic abuse at a young age, like her, I had to find the strength to break it off for good. Rihanna is incredibly brave, and I hope that all the young women who are in abusive relationships hear her message. It's never ok for a man to lay a hand on his woman, EVER.

She has a new album out and she is smart to address it at the beginning of the promo tour, for her album, and get her story out because she knew EVERY interview from this point forward was going to ask her questions about the altercation. She hasn't had to speak out to the press until now. It's not like she is talking about it to promote her album, she is talking about it BECAUSE she is promoting her album. If you were in her situation would you rather not talk about it at all and get asked every single interview, or put the whole story on the table in the beginning? Yeah…exactly. So what if Rihanna is discussing her abuse before her album drops. That's when most networks want to talk to you, when you're promoting something. I am watching Rihanna on 20/20 as we speak. She is very sincere and is telling the truth about her feelings towards the whole situation. Rihanna openly admitted her feelings after the beating and how she went back to him.
Then all of a sudden her feelings were not the same. She could not stand looking at him, talking to him, even being around him. Why because no matter how much you love someone…that is your abuser…someone who hurt you. The mind and heart may forgive but never forgets. I dont see this as a publicity stunt. People will either buy her album or not. Plain and simple. Nothing on tv she can say will change that. Like she said…feelings never go away overnight…she has no want to be with him. As a victim myself years ago, her description of him not having a soul when she looked in his eyes really hit home. After over twenty years my attack still comes to mind at times and this description has helped me understand a little more. I do not think that she was the least bit sincere in this interview and you could see that she was forcing herself to be emotional. my take on the whole situation is that she is fronting…this happened since February. Had she been the least bit concerned about anyone else apart from herself she would have taken a stance on domestic violence and helped counsel those battered women or young girls in dangerous relationships.
