McCartney And Starr Tapped For Yellow Submarine In 3-D

yellow-submarinecover.jpg

So, Hollywood mega-mogul Robert Zemeckis is recreating the Beatles' Yellow Submarine for the 3-D big screen, and Zemeckis is crossing his fingers that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will appear in the remake!

Zemeckis has pitched the idea to McCartney and Starr, but he says they "haven't gotten the word yet on… whether they're interested in doing it or not."

The Back to the Future director is adamant on continuing with Yellow Submarine even if the two remaining Beatles decline to sign on, but the group has always been a "great source of inspiration" for Zemeckis.

Hey, if the $$$$$ is right!

I'm so sick of Hollywood pumping out remakes. There are writers out there with ORIGINAL material that could be made, yet nobody seems to want to take a chance on originality anymore. THIS is the remake that pisses me off the most of all.

The Beatles movies and music are "sacred" to a lot of hard-core fans, I honestly feel that nobody should touch this. Yellow Submarine was a product of its time, with the bold colours and 60s-style animation. A remake will ruin the spirit of this movie, I don't care what anyone says :\ There is NO reason to remake this, other than trying to cash in on The Beatles' popularity. I got behind The Beatles: Rock Band, it is fun and I think it is a wonderful gift to old and new fans alike to be able to "play" The Beatles' music and relive highlights from their career. But this…this just…ugh. I have no words. In the words of Sir Paul, "Let it Be". Don't do this remake and risk pissing off a lot of fans.

boo. doesn't need to be re-made.

    8. 8

i will kill myself if this gets made.. Zemeckis needs to leave this classic film alone and not try to ruin it with his shitty 3D animation. John and George would not be down for this and neither should Ringo and Paul.

      NOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Enough with the Beatles already, boomers. Just, enough.

    11. 11

Funny thing is, when I read this, I was listening to the Beatles. But no, I think they should leave it alone.

    12. 12

None of the Beatles were in the first Yellow Submarine movie. Why would Paul and Ringo want anything to do with this one? This Zemeckis guy obviously isn't hip enough to do Yellow Sub, or he'd have known that. OR maybe he just wanted to issue a press release using Paul and Ringo's name in it for the SEO of it.

re: stonesfan ; even though the Beatles weren't involved, and at first, were against Yellow Submarine the movie, they then changed their minds when they saw how it was developing and the four of them do a cameo at the end of the movie (which is a pretty funny piece) so they are actually in it for a minute or so. I should know, I saw the movie fifteen times when it came out (!). And, NO, they shoudn't fucking do any sort of fucking remake!!!

    14. 14

THEY NEED TO RE-RELEASE THE ORIGINAL ON DVD, NOT REMAKE IT ALTOGETHER. Fucking christ.

Fuck,NO. I'm fucking tired of the Beetles and remakes, and that song 'yellow submarine' is suicide inducing! They should play it for the taliban fighters 24/7 and they would tell where bin laden is hiding in no time, just to end their misery.

For everyone who objects to the Zemeckis remake of "Yellow Submarine," here's the same advice I give for any Hollywood remake that can never hope to match the original (the most vomit-inducing example being the in-production remake of the Sam Peckinpah classic film, "Straw Dogs"): DON'T PAY MONEY TO SEE IT! Deprive Hollywood hacks and studios the thing they want the most: MONEY.

    19. 19

this sounds really dumb. one of the best parts about the original was the beautiful, unique animation style. it will look dumb in 3d.

    20. 20

Ringo: Hey, would you believe me if I told you I was being followed
      by a Yellow Submarine?
Police Officer: No, no, I would not.
Ringo: Oh, yeah, didnt think you would. I couldve sworn I saw a
Yellow Submarine. But thats not logic now. Is it? It mustve been
one of them "Unidentified Flying Cupcakes". Or a pigment of me
imagination. But I dont have an imagination.

Re: Hayleey – I TOTALLY AGREE, THIS MOVIE NEEDS TO BE MADE!

    22. 22

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! My children LOVE the original (and that was NOT voiced by the Beatles). Do not FUCK this movie up. Don't TOUCH IT Leave it alone. We don't NEED IT! You want to do something bob, get in touch with the powers that be about releasing the Let It Be movie. THAT's LOOOONG overdue. Yes we see the infighting that led to the breakup but that's how the story went. Ok soapbox away but just leave YS alone

    23. 23

      BLUE MEANIES!!!!

    24. 24

I can't believe they would want anything to do with it. Money talks!
