Britney Speaks About Australian Criticism!
Since Britney Spears landed in Australia there has been non-stop criticism from the media about her lip-synching her show. The world responded with a collective, "DUH!"
And now the pop princess herself has something to say:
"I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show. Some reporters have said they love it and some don't. I came to Australia for my fans!"
Simply stated. That's Britney for ya!
Brit Brit is gearing up to play 3 sold out shows in Melbourne starting tomorrow, but in the meantime has been taking in the sights of the city including doing some Christmas shopping.
Aussie DJ Havana Brown has been the opening act for both the European and Australian legs of the tour and she was surprised by the reaction to Britney's show in Australia:
"I think it's quite well known that she has lip-synched in the past. I don't think it's any surprise to anybody. There was nothing like that in Europe. I think everyone knew what they were in for, and I think everyone should know here as well. I'm not quite sure what the fuss is about."
And neither are we!
But it sounds like Britney doesn't give a shiz!

if you're thirteen, you probably don't care either way, but if you're older than 13, even if it was live, that's pretty lame that it interests you.
LOL. She does state everything in rather simple and very true statements. She's very good at turing something rather distasteful it into something a little more justifiable.
So if she and other "artists" are tacitly admitting that they lip sync part or all of their shows, then it's time to that they be upfront and honest with their consumers. Yep - that means a disclaimer on advertising and websites (i.e. due to the strenuous nature of some choreographed dance routines, portions of the audio may be pre-recorded.) Then the consumer can make an informed choice about whether they'd prefer to see intense dance scenes or a save their money until a live concert comes along.
There was NO live singing, NO attempt to even look like she was (eg keeping her mouth closed, chewing gum), NO TV screens so anyone at the back could see. NO audience interaction.
It was like being in a warehouse listening to her CD. For a few hundred dollars. You'd be pissed off too.
Thank god she is not coming to New Zealand, what a waste of $ that would have been.

I think the point is everyone knows she lip synchs. But that then comes with the expectation that she is going to put on a good show with dancing, performing and interacting with the audience.
According to everything I have read she wasn't doing a great job of that with little interaction with the audience and being lethargic when dancing. Apparently the big screens didn't show any of britney either which has upset fans and I don't blame them I would be so pissed if I went to a concert and couldn't see (not everyone can afford the best tickets).

I'm going to the concert in Brisbane and I just ant everyone to know that I am looking forward to it. All of her fans knew that she lip-synched and we dont care we are going to see a performance. Its only a few politicians and journalists and non-Britney fans who are making a big deal. Generally, Australia loves Britney and I hate that people are bringing her down.
Britney is a strong woman, and all the negativity only makes her stronger now. She is not afraid to sing live, she did when she sang You Oughta Know and some performances of Everytime. At the moment, shes still just trying to find her voice. Once she finds it for good, nothing will stop her. Dont disrespect someone who has gone through much. There will only be one Britney, and you should appreciate her whiles shes here.
I'm proud of her. She loves her fans and the whole Circus Tour is mainly a "thank you" to her fans. The few people who left, i guess, arent her true fans. Keep being strong Brit!

I'm going to Britney's concert in Melbourne, I know she lipsynchs but I'm expecting a decent show. Now I'm glad I didn't pay for my ticket since my friends who went to her other concerts have said she can't dance for shit anymore. If I'm going to sit in a seat away from the front I at least expect to see the action from a screen for $200, what a joke!

As someone who is from Australia and attending her Brisbane show i knew she would lip synch who wouldn't. Her act is all about the show and its britney she has been around forever. Although i have to admit knowing all of this it still would be nice to get a bit more of a personal touch from this show like actually hearing her sing.
The reason Brit doesn't sing live is because she can't sing. She's AWFUL! Without computers and sound boards it's a vocal train wreck. Brit is a dancer who puts on a big production style show. But I understand why some Australians feel this way. If I was paying $200 a ticket I would want live singing too!

i actually went to the perth concert. everyone already knew she was going to lip sync and thats not why anyone was disappointed with the show at all (the people who are saying that are just generally saying that performers should probably have to have a disclaimer when you buy tickets so consumers are aware of what they are buying)
the people that ARE pissed are the ones that actually saw she wasnt lip syncing at all - you actually need to move your lips to lip sync she wasnt making any effort to appear like she was singing..
i quite enjoyed the show but for $200+ i really would have liked to have been able to see some of it - the stage was really low and they had more than 10 big screens but none of them showed britney, the stage was round so for most of it she was dancing with her back to you and you couldnt see on a screen what she was actually doing..
oh and another little tid bit the perth shows at least were definitely not "sold out" most of the tickets were reduced by 75% to sell all the tickets i got mine for $50 woo
The sad thing about being an Aussie is that they claim to be laid back, but they fukn complain about everything, they should be so lucky. I work in the industry and believe me there were a lot of fuktards complaining and requesting refunds for the show to the point were the promoters had to issue a stmt stating that there are no refunds…it was all bcos so head in the ground politician brought about the fact that she lip synchs and consumers should be made aware of that…who doesnt know Brit Brit lip synchs… Sometimes I feel embarassed being an Aussie, ppl here just don't know how lucky they are…

Well really anyone buying tickets to see Brit would know what they're getting so they couldn't complain but I personally would not pay to see a lip-synched show. I just don't see the point. Unless you have front-row seats or a backstage pass then why go to a concert? I can see the celeb on a TV screen and listen to a recording of their songs easily enough for free at home! I don't need to shell out good $$ to do so at a packed stadium.

I went to the show - paid to see her completely aware that she would be miming. However I did not expect her to completely ignore the audience, dance like she was half asleep and with her back to the audience or have a ten minute intermission between songs!!
I went for this "spectular" you seem to gaurentee and it was a crappy half assed appearance. Those so called reporters are reporting what the FANS thought of her show.

So when you buy a ticket to see Britney Spears "LIVE in Concert" you expect to see her sing as that is what she is - A SINGER! Whether or not she sucks at that is another point. It's basically false advertising. If you bought a CD then went to play it but no sound came out then the record company said, "Well, of course there is no music, but fuck, look how great the cover artwork is" You'd be fucked off, and rightly so…it's the same thang y'all

Aussies are serial bandwagon jumpers. No question. Local newspapers ran the lip-synching stories BEFORE the concert and lo and behold, a bunch of sanctimonious nitwits walked out. Duh! So why doesn't she sing live? Because she can't. She also can't dance, lip synch or speak in coherent sentences. Stompng about the stage and flopping in and amongst a bunch of dancers isn't actual dancing. Britney is just the latest incarnation from the music machine that brought you Milli Vanilli. I'm utterly amazed that she's done as well as she has for such a long time without actually ever singing, dancing or doing anything remotely entertaining. The less said about her appearance in her hooker hotpants, the better.

My advice to concert goers, is go to see live musicians who actually play instruments and sing with actual human voices rather than machines. Pub bands wouldn't last five minutes if they tried lip-synching and rightly so. Patronise real musicians.
If you or Britney's fans don't care if she lip syncs, you might want to consider raising your standards. You are propping up a has been, who clearly doesn't want to be doing it anymore. Look at her performances then and now….big difference.

Lets start by getting one thing straight. Rebekah Devlin, who started what quickly developed into Britney-gate this week in Australia, clearly got it very, very wrong. At the Britney Spears show tonight at Rod Laver Arena, there were no mass walk-outs, there were no disgruntled fans and the audience was genuinely entertained.
Just for the record, I am not a Britney fan but ‘Circus’ is a very good show. Forget the “but she mimes” argument. It is irrelevant for Britney. She is a popstar. She has never pretended to be a serious musical act like Radiohead. She is what she is and has never denied it.
Keep in mind at parts of their shows, Cher has lip-synched, Madonna lip-synchs, even Roger Waters did it. So lets just eliminate that from the scorecard and score the Britney show for what it is … a very entertaining show aimed at her core fans.
If you are a Britney fan, you are going to love ‘Circus’. It is over two hours of escapism and yes it is a real circus. Actually, if Ms. Devlin focused on the freak show featuring the midget or an amputee on a trampoline she might have been able to beat-up a better story. Did she even notice that? Not that it mattered. It was visually compelling.
Yes, a Circus it truly is, with magicians, acrobats, a tightrope and … was that Perez Hilton dressed up as The Queen?
The costume changes are covered up with musical segways. One featured Marilyn Manson ‘Sweet Dreams’ and another Michael Jackson ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’.
Lets give a special shout-out to the two kids in the front row. Britney’s children Sean and Jayden watched what Mom did for a living with Mom’s new beau Jason Trawick . For the record Ms Devlin, Jayden left earlier so your headline tomorrow should read “Even Britney’s Kid Can’t Stand Her”. Sean left before the encore, so you can beat that up into a headline as well.
In Vegas, this show would be up for “show of the year”. In Perth, based on a one-woman jury, it doesn’t rate at all. Melbourne, the home of Australian theatre, accepted another good show.
Britney is more than 90 shows into a world tour with Circus. How funny that Ms Devlin wasted her 15 minutes of fame on something that has never pretended to be anything more than a pop show.

I went to the concert and I got to say the Lip syncing didnt bother me it was the bullshit non existent dancing. Seriously she walked from one side of the stage to the other and thats about it and the constant disappearing act btw every song WTF. Perez's introduction at the start of the concert was the best part of the whole show.
