German Soccer Player Dies In Train Accident

Robert Enke, goalkeeper for Germany and Hannover 96, has died after being hit by a train.
Enke played 8 times for his country and also for Benfica, Barcelona and Borussia Moenchengladbach. National team coach Joachim Loew has said that Enke could have had the number one jersey at next year's World Cup finals in South Africa.
Enke's daughter, Lara, died in 2006 of a rare heart condition when she was 2 and he now leaves behind his wife, Teresa, and the eight-month-old daughter the couple just adopted in early 2009.
So tragic!

I've seen him play a few times, he wasn't only a good goalkeeper but also a really nice person.
He actually did it on purpose… He commited suicide.
I just broke this news to my German husband. He was really shocked but he says this player has had a virus for a few months and the doctors couldn't figure it out. It may have led to depression - the police are saying it was suicide.
That's very sad. Sorry to hear it.

Sounds like it was a suicide. Very sad for his wife who lost their daughter when she was only 2 and now has a 9 month old adopted child to take care of alone.
This is so tragic and sad. I'm totally shocked by the sudden and very unexpected death of Robert Enke. May he rest in peace.

I can´t believe that perezhilton.com is breaking the news to me that Robert Enke has died. I was born in Hannover, actually am a member of Hannover 96 and Enke in one of my most beloved players. He was such a nice man, and a great talent. Our team habd success mostly because of him. I am actually crying while writing this. How much must he been suffering to leave his wife and stepdaughter behind? This is tragic.
We will miss him so much.

My friend was also hit by a train. I always wondered why she didn't hear it coming. I wonder how he didn't hear the train, also. It's just so tragic.
OMG ! I can not believe that he is dead ! He was so young . We knew that he was not playing bc he had a bacterial infection , but commit suicide ? That nobody saw it coming ! He was a great player and a great man . We are going to miss him . My thoughts are with his family !
It is very sad, but I never understand how one gets hit by a train? Unless you are pushed, it's like train tracks oncoming train which part of this puzzle is so hard to figure out.
So sad! There needs to be more awareness for mental health issues. There is s stigma attached to suicide where people believe that only selfish and cowardly people take their own life. If people only knew what it was like to be depressed, they would understand. Many people believe that it would be better for everyone else if they left, so they think that staying is being selfish. If only he would have gotten the proper treatment, but unfortunately many depressed people think that treatment will not help them

The worst part is that he committed suicide, I've heard it in the radio this morning(I live in Germany), he threw himself at the rails when the train was comming. It's really a tragedy, so sad

very sad..but im afraid it wasnt an accident, he threw himself in front of a train..after the death of his daughter he found it hard to cope…very sad
