So I live in Boston and ride the T (because that's what you call the subway) all the time, and I will admit that I'm scared to get too close to the edge for fear of falling over. Not that I would, but I like to be safe.
Clearly this lady was drunk and thank God there was a truly competent driver of the T. She deserves being praised. Unlike the idiot driver who caused an accident on the T that I almost got on last spring.
I am just hearing of this and I live in Boston….Scary!!!! I guess taking the train drunk can be hazardous too!!! :-/

wow this is some crazy shit. a friend of mine died like that in nyc. he was coming home drunk and fell onto the tracks. dont drink too much and take subway ppl. there is a chance that this was woman have had an episode where her sugar was too low, ppl usually act drunk when that happens.

looks to me like she threw herself on those tracks and then lied down waiting for the train to come…. The same thing could easily happen on our tracks in Vancouver… there are no guardrails at all.
in Vancouver the trains are all computerized… no driver…. and will stop automatically if anything obstructs the rails. The driver of that Boston train is amazing.

I was at South Station in Boston tonight when ANOTHER person fell into the tracks. A man who was hopped up on something was pacing around and talking to himself. He got to close to the edge and fell onto the tracks right as "THE NEXT TRAIN TO ALEWIFE" was announced. A guy behind me ran out and jumped into the tracks and SAVED the guys life.

Very obviously drunk; really, why aren't there railings in front of subway tracks with openings where the train doors open? Is it so difficult to park the train at a certain location such that drivers cannot hit the mark? Pilots park 800,000 pound/200 foot long 747's every day right next to a building, why can't subway systems provide a safe way for people to wait next to a train track that places a train in exactly the same location each time it passes? Oh, and one more thing: look at the guy who tries to hold the train back just before it stops. What the hell was HE thinking?
