Twitter Shit Gets Sitcom Deal!
CBS has picked up Twitter sensation Shit My Dad Says and intends to develop it into a multi-camera sitcom!
The account was started by Justin Halpern, a 28-year old that had to move back in with his parents in San Diego and Tweets his dad's colorful and profane quotes.
Some examples are:
"Sometimes life leaves a hundred-dollar bill on your dresser, and you don't realize until later that it's because it fucked you"
"The baby will talk when he talks, relax. It ain't like he knows the cure for cancer and he just ain't spitting it out."
"Why the fuck would I want to live to 100? I'm 73 and shit's starting to get boring. By the way, there's no money left when I go, just fyi"

Shit My Dad Says only launched in August and now has over 700,000 followers and a book deal with Harper Collins!!
Will & Grace's David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are set to executive produce and supervise writing for the family comedy.

Justin has a great sense for what an old man might say to his son during these changing times, but if you believe his dad really comes up with great comic quips like these on a daily basis then you are likely to expect presents from a jolly fat man on Dec. 25th. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the shit I just don't believe it is real.
True - they are going to have to clean up the language and make it PG which won't be as funny.

Have you ever lived with old people ? My husband's mom is 85 and says shit like this all the time - she just doesn't care. I agree, he may embellish ever so slightly - but I laugh out loud at every new post…..
Depends on how well the show is written and presented.
It would be much better on cable .. without having to clean-up the language.

They'll water it down and ruin it. For sure. And call me naive but I do believe it is real. My 73 yr old grandmother used to say funny shit like that all the time and I wish I had written it all down! This kid is smart. Real or fake. But involve Hollywood and it's over. The charm is gone.
A book would be good. But why do they always have to ruin a good thing and try to adapt it to TV? I'd like to hear the quote from the Dad on this one……..
