Carrie Underwood is the darling of the music charts this week!
Underwood's new album, Play On, has sold 318,000 copies and has claimed the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts this week; the second album of the American Idol alum's to hit the top spot in the last two years!
Carrie's #1 album Carnival Ride managed to sell 527,000 in it's debut week back in 2007.
Play On's impressive sales has made Carrie the female artist with the largest amount of sales in a week during 2009!
Quite the accomplishment!

I say this with love but Carrie you need to lose weight, you have had weight issues in the past and it seems like you are losing the battle again. You are number one and being a size 8 is not good enough. I am a size 0 since I like to wear designer clothes and you have to be small to wear them properly. You also are in desperate need of a new stylist, that outfit is hideous and not on trend. Get a new glam squad and that goes for your DollyPartonish looking hair. Overall a pretty girl, great singer just needs to tighten up her looks asap!

It looks like Michael Jackson's reign atop the "album" charts lasted as long as his reign atop the movie charts (although the film is doing well worldwide and should now be the most successful worldwide documentary, which it the real record this picture needed to break as concert films seldom open wide and This Is It was a rehearsal film not a concert film).
The album dropped a staggering 50% to number two. I am not a MJ hater as I merely comment on the truth nor will I ever be a fanatic who claims MJ is #1, when he clearly not longer is, no matter what the reality.
BTW Gleeks the soundtrack debuted at number 4.
