The Oscars Have Record Number Animated Film Contenders

But will any of them go for Best Picture?

Other than Disney/Pixar's Up, we doubt it, and even that is a stretch.

A record number of films have been submitted for best animated feature for the Academy Awards this year.

Twenty flicks are up for consideration for the five openings. Among the flicks considered are the computer animated Up, the stop-motion animation of Coraline, and the hand-drawn animated The Princess and the Frog.

Did U have a favorite animated movie this year?

UP was great. I liked it and my kids loved it. The only Pixar film I haven't liked was WallE.

Delicious cinematic moment of the year…when Coraline took a loverly dark turn & all the little toads who had been allowed to run riot in the cinema by their toadish parents got quieter & quieter until there was silence…I know they all had troubled dreams that night…Bless

Coraline, it was beautiful and creepy and a damn good adaptation… A Christmas Carol was also very well done.

I've got a slew of kids so I've seen every animated movie out there. I loved Ponyo! We saw it twice we loved it so much.

      Re: CatsClaw
wallE was really good! the no talking kinda sucked, but it made you pay attention more to the story. come on now

    23. 23

Up will probably win no matter how you look at it.

    24. 24

Hi, mine were Mary an Max and Up, got the chance to meet Mary and Max director at the French Premiere of the movie and you understand, the whole magic of the movie comes from the fact it's a true story, those are true characters and it can happen to you anytime!

The statue in the picture is not an Oscar…

Huge fan but disney/pixar's UP was a bit disappointing…………The secret of Kells, Mary and Max, Mr. Fox are pretty good. Ponyo should win, Miyazaki's a genius”

uhhh Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea better be a nominee. Hayao Miyazaki is a genius and deserves it. In fact, his movies are the inspiration for Pixar.

    29. 29

      Up! Up! Uuuuuuup!

    30. 30

UP wins hands down. It was a movie that all ages could enjoy and be touched by.

    31. 31

"Porn on the Cob" by animator Dax Norman is awesome.

    32. 32

all three of those movies are AMAZING!!

    33. 33

Emphasis on "submitted". It doesn't mean that any of them have been nominated you idiots. Just that the studios have put them forward.

    34. 34

Up!!! It's my favortite Pixar movie so far. I really loved it :)
