Damage Control! Wynonna Defends Her Dig At Swifty!
We wouldn't want to piss off Taylor Swift either. Otherwise, you become a line in her next monologue song!
Realizing that her comments this morning about Taylor Swift's big win at the CMA's last night may have come off as bitchtastic, Wynonna Judd took to her website to send a message to her fans and Taylor.
She writes:
"I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement. My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry…all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business."
Alright, we'll buy it. You were on a bitter bender. We understand.
It's surely more believable than any of Kanye West's apologies.

I really don't think Taylor is all that good, she writes, sings and acts like a 19 year old, or maybe younger. She has a lot of maturing and growning to do. Don't think she was good enough for the biggest award but congrats anyways.

Wynonna could sing this sweet little bird under the table. That said, Taylor seems like a nice girl but has a weak voice and does not sound good live.
I find it sad that Wynonna feels the need to defend her original comment which was completely true. Regardless, Wy is a true artist with a voice that can bring down the house. Swift? Not so much.
I bet most of the people commenting here have NO idea who Winona Judd is… which kind of explains all of the ignorant things I'm reading. If you all think jealousy is the reason why she voiced concern for Taylor having "too much too soon" need to back down and get a clue. Winona has won numerous Grammy awards and has sold millions and millions of albums worldwide. She's achieved a hell of a lot more than Taylor has in her career and is truly talented. Taylor could learn a lot from this woman. It's ridiculous that she'd have to try to explain her comments when she didn't say anything particularly negative about Taylor.

This award windfall for Taylor Swift was more a result of her media popularity at the moment, then a result of her actual hard work, hardships, and perserverence in the industry.. which was once the prerequisite for receiving any CMA awards in the past.. especially in Winona and her Mom's day!
I guess how someone may think that……..but Taylor Swift is one talented individual.

Regardless of whether Wynona meant any disrespect or not, she should have realized that Taylor just went through someone questioning her receiving an award, and should have kept her opinions to herself. At least for now. Leave the girl alone ffs. Hush up Whino.

Wynonna is right on. Taylor is a cute little song writer and appeals to other teenagers, but to have her win best Female vocalist was ridiculous. She is a mediocre singer at best, and had no right to win against the powerhouse singers she was up against.

let me just first say i Love Taylor. that being said i think she absolutely deserved at least 3 of her awards. i am not a blindly following fanboy, just a fan, so i could see some people's arguments that MAYBE she shouldn't have gotten the top vocalist award. however the other 3 were Definitely spot on and deserved. im one of the Many people that if u asked me a year ago what kind of music do i like, i would have said pretty much anything EXCEPT country. well then i discovered taylor one night singing on a show called crossroads with Def leapard. That was it, i was hooked and have been ever since. this was back in 08 btw. since then i have definitely come around to at least some country. i regularly check out both CMT and GAC country music channels and like quite a few of the artists. i think that says Volumes about Ms. Swifts contributions to country. now i know that she is Country/pop or whatever u wanna call it but the point is, as with others i now give country a chance and like more than a little of it. Go taylor, keep on being your awesome self.

Um Taylor Swift sucks singing live im sorry but its true. If it wasnt for the Kanye West thing, no one would care about her. I do not believe she deserve that award, it should have went to someone else with better vocals.
I really really like Taylor. I think she is bright and funny. But no matter how many awards she wins, I still think it is obvious that her voice is average. Still, I would buy her entire catalog before I would buy one clip of madonna or gaga or whatever britanyesque poser that sells to the masses.
Wynonna has a magnificent, beautiful voice. Her music is unenhanced and speaks of real experience and heart. I love her for her flaws and her strength, her humanity and her talent.
Comments that disparage her are mean and ignorant. If you took time to invest yourselves in the music, you would see a real talent, not an overproduced, tacky caricature, like madonna or britney.

I've tried so hard to like Taylor Swift but she dissapoints me with every cringe worthy performance. She is adorable to look at, classy, and sweet as pie but her voice is terrible and she is horribly uncoordinated. There, I said it. Now I feel like an a-hole but its the truth!
Wy has nothing to apologize for. If anything, she was being kind. What she should have said was Taylor's live performances are so off key and flat that she embarrasses country music. Did anyone catch her performances on the CMAs? They were completely awful. They were so awful it was laughable. This girl uses auto tone in the studio like she uses lipgloss outside of the studio. Can you imagine if Wynonna had sung that badly? Momma would not have let her near or stage or a recording contact. It took years of talent and hard work to achieve the harmony that Wynonna and Naomi have. Taylor has miles and miles to go before she is anywhere near their caliber. And if you contrasted Taylor with the CMA performances of Reba, Faith, Martina, Carrie or the woman in Sugarland you would have seen a ginormous difference between actual singing and that of a music "construct", one of smoke and mirrors.
The award was a travesty. Way to make country music into a joke. Wynonna's assessment was more than fair. Had I been in the room I would have walked out the moment they announced Taylor's name. People are so gullible!
Kanye's apology was sincere. Your ass sure knows how to hold on to some shit.
