Other Religious Leaders Call Out The Catholic Church

After threatening to discontinue their social services through Catholic Charities because of the same-sex marriage bill in Washington D.C, other religious leaders are calling out the Catholic church for their disgraceful actions.

Reverend Dr. Dennis W. Wiley
, Pastor of the Covenant Baptist Church just released the following statement:

“Yesterday, the leadership of the Catholic Church made clear that they are choosing a cynical political ploy over their call to serve the neediest among the community.

"Members of the Church hierarchy announced that they will prohibit Catholic Charities from providing services to D.C. residents if the D.C. City Council decides to recognize all married couples as equal under law. If it indeed takes this step, the leadership of the Catholic Church will be turning their backs on thousands of D.C. Catholics and other D.C. residents who embrace all of our neighbors and seek to provide for them in times of need.

“The Catholic Church hierarchy is at a crossroads: they must decide whether they are in the charity business for charity's sake, or if imposing their will on the D.C. City Council and the citizens of the District is their primary interest.”

So which is it?

Charity or hate?

Seems to us like it should be an obvious choice!

And i thought the Church was meant to be preachy, telling people what is right or wrong completely defeats the perfect and as a Gay man its easy to inflict your Gay views which are biast having not taken on board or had first hand experience of Catholic views. To suggest that an institution that has done soo much good and take so much criticism is full of 'Hate' shows your character Perez more than what is 'Right' when you can so easily criticise but dont stop to tak a look at yourself, who makes a living from inspecting peoples lives under a microscope and then criticizing them. Very Charitable. You have to be consistant with these things

      Re: Emma Watson Forever-Medieval Poetry

To generalize every person part of one of the biggest churches on the planet as 'they' shows how narrow minded you are. Thats like saying of Jews didnt 'they' kill jesus or of Americans aren't 'they' all obese, warfare obsessed morons? its easy to generalise about social groups your not part of, you cant preach equality for all and then hate on catholics thats just hypocritical

Help fight the injustice - Be a part of the ONE MILLION DOLLAR PLEDGE to make same sex marriage legal in EVERY STATE. Visit www.equalinlove.com right now and tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW about it! the ONLY way to make this right legal for everyone is to fund people fighting the discrimination!

I also want to point out, even though people like Perez don't want anyone to believe this, you can be against homosexual sex, and not hate gays. Perez wants to project ANYONE that is against homosexual sex as being foaming at the mouth, semi-retarded hate mongers. That's no better than someone trying to paint all homosexuals out to be pedophiliac sodomites.

For example, I think adultery is sinful. That doesn't mean I hate all heterosexuals or people that are married.

ALSO, singling out extremists and pretending they speak for, or are the norm when it comes to those that are religious is ALSO dishonest.

Most religious people don't think of themselves as being "above" homosexuals. The bible itself said we are all on the same boat. All equally sinners. There is no difference, sin wise, with a homosexual and a heterosexual biblically speaking.

So if Perez's rant was so just, he'd not have to revert to dishonesty.

      Just saying.

    7. 107

BTW Perez, your forum is bunk. It keeps on reverting to a avatar I haven't used in a year or more. Please fix your junk.

      THX.

      Re: MOMMIE DEAREST

"jeeeezus…..true christians know homosexuality is not allowed in GODS eyes,he disdains it,and even states that man shall not lie with man as he does with woman,so if the catholic church does not want to ”partake” in dealing with homosexuals, they shouldnt be forced to…marriage is between a male and female, thats the way its always been and will always be.
stop trying to force yrselves on the rest of the world. "

THIS IS THE BIGGEST LOAD OF BULLSHIT I HAVE READ IN AGES. FIRST OF ALL HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT ALLOWED IN GODS EYES? YOU RELIGIOUS FREAKS QUOTE THE BIBLE MEANWHILE THE BIBLE WAS NOT WRITTEN BY GOD, WE DONT EVEN KNOW WHO WROTE THE BIBLE, IT WAS WRITTEN OVER MANY YEARS BY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. ITS A STORY!

GOD HAS CREATED US ALL AND HE CREATED GAY PEOPLE AND THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO LOVE WHO THEY WANT AND MARRY WHO THEY WANT. WHAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF IS HOW DOES A GAY PERSON MARRYING SOMEONE REALLY EFFECT SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT BELIEVE IN IT? IT DOES NOT EFFECT YOUR DAY TO DAY LIVE IN ANYWAY. MEANWHILE IT MAKES THE GAY COUPLE REALLY HAPPY.

ITS FINE TO NOT BELIEVE IN GAY SEX, THATS YOUR OPINION AND YOU ARE ALLOWED IT. BUT SEEING AS A GAY COUPLE MARRYING DOES NOT EFFECT YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE IN ANYWAY I THINK YOU SHOULD IGNORE IT AND JUST LET IT HAPPEN.

sorry about the all caps but I had to yell all that, this person made me so mad!!

I am a practicing Catholic, and I believe you love who you love period. Everyone should have equal rights under the law. You want to marry someone of the same gender, I say go for it. You want to provide a loving and stable home for a child, go for it. That said, there is separation of church and state in this country, and religions can do what they please with their money, and should NOT be allowed to force the government's hand when they want to.

    12. 112

As a Catholic, I am ashamed and sad to hear this. Those old men in charge are stubborn and self-righteous and do not represent the thoughts or wishes of many Catholics. It IS supposed to be all about love and I don't see how cutting the help given to the needy will help anything or prove anything to anyone. Just sad.

This world is so corrupted and mislead. How can someone be so religious and believe in God and be GAY? -But yet they don't want to abide by his words. when God clearly states in his book.

Romans 1: 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.

God detest MAN sleeping with MAN - Read your bible - It's in there.

God made a woman for man. Satan and his demons are real and their evil spirits are umong us corrupting the minds of people who are weak. Sorry, I'm not being narrow minded or injustice or discriminiting. I'm going by the words of my Father, who hates all these things. It's so not right. Satan is leading Gods people to destruction. I don't hate Gays at all. I'm only sadden.

Since when does not agreeing with someones point of view or opinion equal hatred and or racism?? Oh yeah, ever since the sheep of this country elected a communtiy organizer who has done more harm to race relations in 9 months than any other historical figure….EVER….

    15. 115

HOMOSEXUALITY IS A DISGRACE TO ANY CHRISTIAN RELIGION… ITS ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE

    16. 116

being catholic i do believe that it is sad that other people are attacking the faith for their beliefs; just because it stays true to what it believes doesnt make it wrong, its just not desirable in your eyes and i dont believe that it should or ever will back down over gay marriage; you wouldnt expect other religions to change their belief system just because you dont agree with it.
      .
however, i am not the best catholic in the world, and quite frankly i think only the pope agrees with everything the church stands for, i am yet to find a catholic who is against abortion, divorce, sex before marriage, gay marriage, IVF etc in all circumstances.
      .
i personally believe in gay marriage and equality for all and i do believe that it is wrong of them to stop their charity donations, but at the end of the day it is an institution that is, somewhat, stuck in a time warp and changing public opinions and acceptance of homosexuality will not change the church.

God may love all equally, but homosexuals will not go to heaven. I know that is not politically correct to say, but it is true.

    19. 119

This should be a lesson to you Perez.. Religion does not hate. God doesn't hate. PEOPLE choose to hate. Being Christian, Catholic, Jewish, or Muslim does not mean the person is a hateful bitch. Think about that the next time you go bashing on a specific religion.

    20. 120

While I think the Catholic church should be able to carryout their own beliefs, I also think it's wrong to withhold help from people who need it. You don't have to love and embrace the gay lifestyle but you shouldn't be hateful towards it either.

    21. 121

Oh Perez, the Catholic Church is an institution that has been in place much longer than you have been blogging about celebrities. They are a religious institution with the core belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. They are not going to change their stance because Protestant and other religious authorities think that they are wrong. People practice Catholicism for a reason, and most of the time they practice this religion is because they believe in its foundation and teachings. Catholics do not hate gays, they just do not believe in marriage between two members of the same sex. Again Perez, not everyone can believe what you believe.. people have free will and opinions, just like you do. There is nothing wrong with the Catholic Church.

    22. 122

I have NOT had Any respect for the Catholic Church since we found out that they risked the safety of children to protect their own hides & reputation!!

But even I am shocked at how truly "unoly" & ungodly" they are becoming!

I am a layman & I don't like speaking for Jesus - but - lets get serious - what would Jesus say & do??
Everyone knows the answer - except the Catholic Church!!

    23. 123

Is that Linda Hogans 20 year old bf? :)

    24. 124

Because it's /ONLY/ the Catholic church that doesn't like Gay people.

I support Gay Marriage, and I'm Catholic.

      Thanks for the love, guys.

      Re: MyTelephone

God's laws are bigger than America's laws. God says that only a man and a woman can marry…that's who I'll listen to.

    26. 126

im a catholic and some of my best friends are gay, and some of them do not support gay marriage. im not sure how to feel on the subject but i was taught in college BY A GAY PROFESSOR that once the family structure of a civilization is broken down the civilization itself starts to break down…well see what happens i guess. its a pendulum effect and its swingin back hard.
