GQ reviewed RiRi's upcoming album and had this to say:
Two key points that stick out after just one front-to-back listen: First of all, Rihanna attacked this new album aggressively. She says "motherfucker," "bitches" and the N-word on it (sorry, Oprah). It's got violent revenge fantasies. And sex fantasies. Often she seems to be singing directly to Chris Brown. And sonically, it can be brutally dark. If her mentor Jay-Z pops up on a remix of one of these tracks (let's hope it's "Rock Star"), he definitely won't be referring to her as "Little Miss Sunshine" again. And you're damn right this thing is getting a Parental Advisory sticker.
The Rated R title totally makes sense now!
Oh and they also said one of the best tracks on the album was written by Rihanna's rumored fling, Justin Timberlake.

She's growing. She has been through a lot of bad things in a really short period of time. I think she needed this, and for that I support her. She didn't really talk to anyone about what really happend… only limited amount to family and friends. She kept it all bottled up and if she feel like the only way she can let go of all this emotion…. then hell, I will go out and actually BUY the album to support her in her progression.

People always want to put their favorite artists and entertainers in a box. If she would have put out another album like 'Good Girl Gone Bad' it would have been boring. I knew this album was going to be trash when I heard the first two singles which are supposed to represent the best two songs off the album and they both sucked. This along with the pr disaster of being the poster child for domestic violence now matched up with this obsence and aggressive sexual and violent content makes it an official rap on this cd. This cd was critical for it to go in the right direction to send her off into superstardom and now she is going to be known more for being the poster child for domestic violence than her music and the oversexualized and violent content she will lose her buying audience which are little girls you know the ones she is a "role model" to as she put it.
i like it and i think writing these songs were theraputic for her so i say go riri!
