Independence Day To Become A Trilogy?!
Filed under: Film Flickers > Will Smith
This is unnecessary.
Roland Emmerich, the man who thinks all movies should be about the end of the world (he helmed 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow), is ready to breathe new life into one of his first thrillers, Independence Day.
Roland is eager to make two more movies based on the original alien-encounter flick. He specifically is looking to do two more as to provide a "bigger arc" for the storyline. What the storyline will be, Roland wouldn't say, but he did reveal that the plot hasn't even really made it to page yet and he refuses to do the movies unless he can secure both Will Smith and Bill Pullman.
We don't think you'll have too much trouble there, Roland. Will is all about aliens and resurrecting his terrible movies (Hancock 2 , anyone?) and we haven't seen Bill Pullman in AWHILE, so we're sure he'll be grateful for the paycheck.
It's the age of sequels and remakes. Joy.
Do U want to see this?

2012 was a fucking awsome movie the destruction was fu.cking amazing everything lol and boooo triology for what? this is good already!
Most likely.
sure do!
Clams in space.
I don´t know!!! why can´t they LEAVE the classics alone!!!!
I mean what hell are they going to add to the story!! i mean really!!!
plus will $mith is not the same cool actor he used to be!
I´ll watch the trailer and that´s it!
Didn't Bill Pullman die in the first one? Anywho I wouldn't mind seeing two more ID:4 movies.
why would they need so many sequels for this? I wish Hollywood would let new fresh ideas hit the theaters instead of remakes and sequels.
Write some new movie plots
One was bad enough.
10 years too late. This ain't Star Wars, kittens — the time has passed. Yawn.
Uhh…Hancock grossed $227M domestic and $624M worldwide. I'm sure he'd like more flops like that.
I won't see the sequels, not because the first wasn't interesting enough, but because I think the one was good enough on its own. Any sequels will undoubtedly be corny and overdone; the "franchise" would ruin itself just by being created.
Wtf? By now the kids from the movie would be old enough to be the main characters… That's just WEIRD. What else can someone possibily do with this story? It's not like it's Terminator, at least with that franchise you knew from the get-go that it's a never ending story…
No No No i'm sorry but he cant do that
i mean good derector and stuff but really,
the first movie was great and you dont wanna
screw that up doo ya? and besides i doubht that
Will smith would be up for that.
ABC is already doing it again with V. Yawn.
Fuck no- I ain't gonna go see it!! I'm so sick of remakes and prequels and sequels- if Hollywood could come up with an original sock puppet movie I'd see that before I'd see another piece of unoriginal crap!!
I rather want more of Star Trek (this is coming) and… why not: the new Star Wars Trilogy (7 to 9)? It's so obvious that if George won't make them, they will happen sometimes after his death, so he really should just produce them now. In fact he didn't even direct two of the first 3 films and they were good nonetheless. I say: more star wars (and less of the animated series of the same name).
Some films can stand to have sequels, this is one of them. Can't wait!
As bad as it could be…I'm sort of digging the idea. I love Independance Day and would love to see more! But please bring back Jeff Goldblum too! Please!
I'd watch a trilogy for Indepence Day!
only if they bring jeff goldblum.
I thought Independence Day sucked, so, NO, I don't want to see two more piece of shit sequels.
if im high
Wasn't Bill Pullman the president in the first one?
How long are you the president for?
Why would he even be in the second one?
Is he even still alive?
… alive meaning in the context of the movie… and real life…
I'm waiting for Jurassic Park 4 to come out now… it's bound to happen.
Roland Emmerich is messed up….but I love The Day After Tomorrow!! Who doesn't love Jake Gyllenhaal?? I'm sick of everything being about the end of the world, and sequels always suck, especially when the first movie was crappy.
seriously. they need jeff goldblum for this to even be a consideration.
If Jeff Goldblum's in it, I'll watch it. Independence Day was a seriously good movie. And I'd totally vote for Bill Pullman.
I would love to see Independence Day Part Deux!!!
Haven't seen Bill Pullman in while??? A little show called Big Love.
Re: Rhiley_Vestal – Haven't seen Bill Pullman in while??? A little show called Big Love.
He wasn't the president. So all your speculation about a presidents term is meaningless. Good job!!!!!
Re: walkerwoodberry – WOW. Yeah, he was President. And his wife, the first lady died. Watch the movie again before you come out here talking trash, asshat.
ill see them
