For some reason we cannot fathom, Selena Gomez decided to pull out a Backstreet Boy cover at her gig in San Diego this weekend.
The poor thing had to sing it well below her register (or maybe she can't sing well?), so she sounds like she smoked a pack of cigarettes before going on. And she couldn't even sing most of it! Some dude named Greg had to jump in!

what the hell are you idiots talking about…first off you can barely hear her voice over the crowd and Greg didn't jump in to save her, she introduced him and she sang harmony, seriously perez, do you not pay attention? Do any of the flying monkeys you have there pay attention or are you all too busy stealing the food from the hungry and pissing on everyone to care? She sounds good to me. It's hard to hear here over the tone deaf fans in the crowd. The song is just kinda low for her. She should of sang it in a higher key.
Let me start off by stating that I personally can't stand pop, let alone these pre-tart pop-tarts like Miley and this girl.
My biases aside, I think that Selena is having fun with her young audience. This song probably came out in early in her life and it probably is a fun anthem for her. She doesn't have the best voice for the song, but she carries it off well enough and is clearly having a blast doing it. Get over yourself, Perez. Not everyone takes themselves as seriously as you do.
I'll give her a break, shes a new singer.

She sounds fine to me. So what if she has a lower voice. It sucks having a lower singing voice than most girls but its something that you have to work with and Selena does it well.

To make a judgement that Selena can't sing, based on a non-professional unmixed raw video is kind of an idiotic thing to do. An unmixed single camera, shot from the side of the stage, is not going to produce the kind of soundtrack that a professional shot video would have. Because the professional soundtrack would have the benefit of being mixed, equalized and balanced out together, to make a evenly spaced out mix of all the instruments, percussion, and Selena's mic. I have seen many YouTube vids shot from concerts that I attended, and I can tell you that the sound I heard live at the show was far superior in quality than what was produced by the solitary camera, of the person who posted the vid. Case in point, I took my 9 year old niece to see Miley Cyrus in our area. The next day vids were posted on YouTube from the entire show we had watched the night before and I can guarantee you that the difference from what we heard live, and what you hear on the videos are like night and day! So it is a real certainty that what the people are hearing at the Selena Gomez show is a more than what you can hear on this one video! You might have also noticed while watching the vid that the people in the crowd, as well as Selena up on stage were all having a pretty god damn good time of it! I wish I could have been there myself!

Her music is meant to be fun and energetic. Which it is. And it is what her FANS like. Myself, included. IDGAF. I do appreciate that she sings live, though.
