The Hollywood Reporter has chosen actress Eva Longoria Parker as their Philanthropist of the Year.

THR publisher Eric Mika says of Eva:

"I've never met a more conscientious and socially aware young, energetic talent. Eva's effors on behalf of the causes near and dear to her are Herculean. She pours her free time and energy into raising millions of dollars for charitable missions that make a difference in the Latino community and other humanitarian organizations."

Eva is the national spokesperson for Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), a nonprofit aiding Latino children with cancer and their families. She also founded Eva's Heroes in her hometown of San Antonio which provides after-school programs for those with developmental disabilities.

Eva is also currently executive producing a documentary called The Harvest, focusing on the mostly Latino child farm workers in America.

Okay, okay, so she is doing some pretty great things!

Felicidades, Eva!

ha! this is the twat who went on Oprah with her then-fiancee after Katrina and they offered up less than $60k between the two of them. really!?! assholes…

    2. 2

I adore her. She is truly an inspiration and has more brains and personality that most of these hollywood twats.

    3. 3

I love it when celebs use their names for good causes.

    4. 4

shes gonna need a waterblaster to get off all that makeup

    5. 5

That dress is stunning. The color is so beautiful. It's been so long that I was in awe over a dress. I love it.

    6. 6

Eva is beautiful inside and out. She is a beautiful Mexican American woman. Love you Eva!

And just what have you done for the Latino community perez? Or are they just as ashamed of you as the gay community is.

Her work is admirable and inspirational–ulike so many self absorbed Hollywood types.

      Bravo Eva Longoria Parker!

      Kudos!!

    9. 9

What about kids who aren't Latino?

    10. 10

Eva is awesome unlike Angelina. She is too fake. All her humanitarian BS is so America did not stop watching her films after she stole brad. She loves being a movie star. She just acts like she doesn't.

    11. 11

I wonder if anyone would win an award for providing support to a nonprofit helping white kids with cancer? See how racist the concept is when you help only one kind of people (as the above nonprofit is doing)?

    12. 12

Seriously? Eva Longoria is not from San Antonio — she's from Corpus Christi. Her husband isn't either, he just plays for the San Antonio Spurs

    13. 13

      what about salma hayek

    14. 14

I am from San Antonio, too bad most people I know (and that is alot) hate her! She is the rudest person on the planet, and her and Tony refuse to tip waiters and waitresses at the restaurants that they eat at. I mean come on! People in SA are cool about celebs, we leave them alone, but these two are freaks about stuff, once they had the restaurant turn down the lights so no one could see them, I could barely see my food in front of me!

Once again Perez you manage to be a loser. You can't even be happy about a person from your own culture…just because she doesn't give you the time of day doesn't mean you have to trash her or an organization she is helping. If you hate her then hate her but she may have saved a life or became a role model to someone who needed that..you…the only role model you will ever be is a gay hater! One day someone will say…I killed because Perez didn't like them…I hope that day doesn't happen but you are an EXTREMIST in the worst kind of way…You have given gays a bad name, you have given your culture a bad name…WHO CARES what a celebrity does for charity…WTF have you done??????????

    16. 16

It's amazing how people can take something good and make it into something negative. The woman gives her money and time to help other people. While I don't agree with picking and choosing charity in the US based on gender, race or nationality…It isn't up to me to say who someone should give their money and time to. Any act of kindness should be recognized and appreciated. Congratulations Eva.

Re: thegoddessfoo – yeah my friend who works at La Cantera told me that she made her follow her around the store and carry around all the stuff she wanted to get and then ended up changing her mind and not getting anything. She told me she was extremely rude.

    18. 18

Re: thegoddessfoo – and you would know this how? i doubt she refuses to tip waitors, she makes a hell of a lot of money. and i agree with amagod121, stop seperating charities for spanish people and black and so forth, make charities for everyone. negro college fund, dumbest shit on the planet.. what about the EVERY RACEcollege fund, how about that?

    19. 19

AHHH! I love her, but I thought it was SANDRA BULLOCK!

    20. 20

nice makeup! but that dress is horrible. love the color though

    21. 21

It's really bad karma to discriminate against innocent children with cancer just because they don't look like you. I wonder if they'd actually turn a family away that came to them for help, just because the family wasn't latino. This casual racism is ubiquitous, unashamed, and ludicrously hypocritical. I'm sure they couldn't care less.

    22. 22

have you ever given a dime in your life Perez, aside from your lame Gay activism, which I doubt you've ahd.

    23. 23

Her husband is from France! Viva France! Well like my mom his mom is too. So that's the French Connection. HE may have been born in America.

    24. 24

I'm glad to hear that Eva is using her fame to promote generosity as well as to raise consciousness of the pressing issues happening in the United States!!

I am sad to hear some people undermining her efforts with such misinformed comments-please-stop being confined by your biases… in a perfect situation, everyone regardless of a social category would be given equal opportunities, but the reality is different and aid should be given to those who need it the most and who are most affected by the unequal distribution of resources and opportunities. Of course, with the world being like it is…and the immense amount of help needed everywhere, you have to pick and choose the causes that are most dear to your heart and contribute to that at least…this is what she is doing, I hope.

Anyway, hope other celebs use their influence to make significant contributions too and stop living in these alternate realities.

    25. 25

What happened to the sexy young looking Eva? She has on way too much makeup and a schoolmarm bun and a matronly dress. New glam squad in order!

    26. 26

Re: GALLOPINTO – so, let's just hope that if your child needs help, the people you turn to for help will not look at your race and automatically deny you. It's wrong in every circumstance. Everybody can create excuses for their own particular brand of racism. Racism is wrong. Period.

    27. 27

Can I start a charity for caucasian kids? Or would that piss off all the non-caucasians who would call me racist for not including them?

Re: Amagod121 – Don't worry Madonna and Ange have got their backs.
