Jackson's New Movie Not So "New"
Michael Jackson fans might be a bit upset over this revelation.
The much hyped-about This Is It flick, documenting Michael's final tour rehearsals, seems to have gotten a bit of help from the past.
According to new reports, music experts are claiming some of the sound bytes you hear are actually from years before!!!!
Former BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose is one of those claiming the film used old clips. Such as when Jackson sings Earth Song, it's actually old vocals from one of his demos.
Rose claims, "Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing."
But the most shocking part? Officials at Sony Pictures are admitting to altering the film!
Sony spokesman Jim Kennedy says, "In order to fulfil Michael's vision for his fans and his children… the filmmakers had to incorporate some pre-existing materials, including vocals, where the rehearsal footage audio was incomplete and/or inaudible. In addition, usage of master recordings (such as Earth Song) was credited in the end titles."
This is It has grossed over $200 million already.

Why is this even an item? HE'S DEAD. Obviously they used media from earlier in his life. Thank you Perez for drawing attention to the important thing - the success of the film. And rightfully so.
If anyone didn't know he was lip syncing at parts, then your pretty clueless. And if he's lip syncing, what difference does it make that its from an old demo?? I mean, there were parts where he was singing live and his vocals were AMAZING. I mean, Britney Spears can't even put on a concert without lip syncing. Plus, its a demo, that means its his real, unaltered voice. And is there proof that this is even true?? Honestly, this is no big deal. For anyone who saw this movie that has common sense, you knew he wasn't singing live the whole time…it was rehearsal and he never thought that anyone would see it, the footage was supposed to go into his personal library. Michael Jackson is the best to ever live and nothing will ever change that!!

I'm NOT upset…. This is no big dang deal, Perez. "Earth Song" may have included old tracks or whatever but it was Michael's voice so I can care less. The rest of the parts like where he was singing naturally and parts where he was dancing like no other and showing his 20 yr old counterparts how it's supposed to be done was beautiful so who gives a dang aside from you and the haters who are going to rear their usual heads on MJ's post. And BTW.. just like when Aaliyah passed away (R.I.P Aaliyah) her brother's voice as well as some special machinary was used to finish her parts in her last movie. It happens so it's not at all surprising to anybody but you.
Doesn't change the fact that the movie was still good. He still had the dance moves and you can hear how voice sounded in the song I just can't stop loving you because afterwards he says to Kenny Ortega how he shouldn't do that since he has to perserve his voice for the concert. So that songs proves that he can still sing good!!!

Thing is, all the fans (including myself) ALREADY KNEW about the demos and all that. We're the big time, we can detect every subtlety in Michael's voice and we know what's live and what isn't.
Stop trying to make this movie out to be a failure. It's not.

It was clear when pre-taped vocals were used and clear when he was "singing out" His impromptu rif of "Speechless" let you know in 5 seconds, he was still on point but yeah, hopping around to Thriller definitely warrants lip synching

Why is this "revelation" even a big deal? Michael's rehearsals for the tour were never meant to be released as a movie…they were recorded for his own personal use, not for release as a feature length movie as was done after his death…People need to cut this movie and Michael some fuckin; slack arelady! The man is dead and the people surrounding him didn't want to miss a chance to cash in on his death so they rushed to put out this "movie" which is sort of sad…And Perez needs to stop trying to find ways to knock this film down…If it was Lady GaGa's rehearsal footage he's say it was perfect but because it's Michael it must be shit! Yeah…that's Michael - total shit. The man only sold the most albums of all time but he was a talentless tool, according to Perez and his daily bashing of "This Is It". Re: Lola24 – Exactly, this is REHEARSAL footage!! How many artists out there today could have their rehearsal footage turned into a FULL length movie and it be as epic as THIS IS IT. I mean this isn't even a concert film, its rehearsal footage, no part of it is actual concert scenes, its pure practice and prep for the concert!!
Well, what else were they supposed to do? The man is dead, it's not like they can have him go into a studio and record enough material to fill a whole movie. If they didn't have an adequate newer recording of "Earth Song" on hand, what's the harm in using a slightly older one? It IS still him singing it.

Had you seen the film then you would have seen that Michael didn't need to lipsinch because his voice was still superb. ALL musicians lipsinch. Some do it because they honestly can't sing (not Michael) some do it because they are trying to save their voice (Michael was trying to do that and had you seen the film you would have heard him say this himself) and others do it because their performance is so intense that it would be impossible to sing full out and dance full out ( one reason why Michael had a backing track at times.) Get over your obsession with Michael but while your at it go see "This is It" or like I mentioned before just wait for it to come out on DVD.
I think it was very obvious while watching the movie that there were lots of edits of older footage and some dubbing. This isn't new info. The point of the movie is to create Michael's vision and show his fans what he was planning for his upcoming tour. Only a 3 year old wouldn't know and a 3 year old wouldn't care. Get with the program Perez and report on 'new' news.

To make it into a film for his fans needed to incorporate former materials, so what? It is a magnificent documentary. I have seen it twice, and I will see it again!! Can't wait for the DVD.
