Michael Moore's Running Out Of Steam

Maybe it's about time for Michael Moore to retire from the world of Hollywood docs??

Moore's latest effort, Capitalism: A Love Story, has only earned $14 mil at the box office since its release seven weeks ago!

At the height of his career, Moore's 2004 film, Fahrenheit 9/11, drew in an impressive $119 million in its year of release, and even 2007's Sicko managed to gross $24.5 million.

Probably should have stopped while he was ahead!

"Probably should have stopped while he was ahead".

Perez you should heed your own advice to Mr. Moore. He is infinitely more essential to our discourse than you will ever be. Your major victory over PreCarrie is commendable, but, I am deleting you from my bookmarks and hope that in 2010, you will be Gone, gone, gone…..like Abraham, Martin and John (now that was rude and unecessary for me to say….but it rhymed).

Maybe people are finally figuring out what a waste of flesh Moore actually is. If it wasn't for the fact that he loves to twist figures around, be guilty of 'creative editing', tell half truth's and sometimes just outright lie to make his point then he could possibly be taken as a real master of his craft. Then you figure in the whole point of his most recent effort… a movie on capitalism…. capitalism which of course has made him millions of dollars. If he truly believed the BS that he is trying to pass along to us, then he would of released the movie for free… I mean if capitalism is so terrible, why would he be looking to make a buck because of it. Michael Moore is a fraud… always has been, always will be.

  3. 3

Uhm…$!4M for a documentary is huge. Just because he made other movies that made even more unheard of amounts of money does not mean that this one is not a success. Considering that it probably did not cost much to make it will probably end up more profitable to the company than Avatar.

  4. 4

Loved his movie! It's the best one I've soon all year!

  5. 5

That's 14 million more than your tour/book/shirts grossed.

  6. 6

Well he's selling a movie about a financial meltdown…during a time of financial meltdown. What do you expect.

  7. 7

FUCK YOU MARIO OR WHOMEVER WRITES THIS TOTAL BULLSHIT! LETS SEE YOU MAKE $14 MIL FOR ANYTHING YOU HAVE EVER DONE, YOU ARE A FAILED ACTOR AND YOU CAN ONLY STEAL STORIES FOR YOUR CURRENT WEBSITE. IF PEOPLE AREN'T WILLING TO HEAR THE TRUTH ABOUT AMERICA, THEIR LOSS. AND FOR WHOMEVER SAYS THAT HE USES CREATIVE EDITING, YOU WATCH TOO MUCH FOX NEWS AND HAVE SEEN TOO MUCH OF THEIR CREATIVE EDITING TO REALIZE WHAT REAL JOURNALISM IS!

Pretty good considering the Capitalist criminals of this country refuse to promote it..GREAT JOB MICHAEL MOORE CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE !!!! maybe he can make a movie about gay marriage next !!

Re: Chanbo – YAY, THE SMARTEST THING I'VE READ ON HERE IN A LONG TIME. CHEERS TO YOU!

  10. 10

He should never stop. For some people, it isn't about the money. It is about spreading a message. Why doesn't Hollywood get that??

  11. 11

Even 14 million is a big sum for a doc. I am not necessarily a Michael Moore fan but even Steven Spielberg's movies do not always make a lot of money. It is a hit or miss business and he hits more then he misses. Carrie Underwood's Cd's have progressively been selling less and less copies does that mean that she should stop making Cd's. Your comments make no scene. Not every thing is going to be a box office smash. I wish that you would make more intelligent comments.

IF ANYONE HAD LISTENED TO MICHAEL MOORE BACK IN 1989 WHEN HE MADE "ROGER AND ME" WE MIGHT NOT BE IN THIS ECONOMIC DISASTER TODAY!
MICHAEL MOORE IS A WORKING CLASS HERO AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT GM AND RIGHT ABOUT THE LOSS OF OUR CAPITAL INFRASTRUCTURE, OUR MANUFACTURING BASE THAT WAS SOLD OUT FROM UNDER US TO THE COMMUNIST CHI-FUCKING-ESE FOR PRIVATE PROFIT!
HIS CURRENT MOVIE IS SO IMPORTANT AND PEOPLE WHO ARE TO FUCKING LAZY TO WATCH OR LEARN ARE WHY THESE FEW ELITES CAN RUN OFF WITH THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR AND SCREW WORKING PEOPLE THAT MADE THIS COUNTRY WHAT WE WERE-

EVERYBODY GO SEE HIS MOVIE CAPITALISM:A LOVE STORY AND GET A FUCKING CLUE- YOU WILL BE A-FUCKING-MAZED. AND PISSED!
LEARN WHERE TO DIRECT YOUR ANGER, YOU TEABAGGERS, REBELS, ANARCHISTS, CORPORATE COGS- THEY'VE STOLEN FROM US ALL AND TRY TO GET US TO HATE EACHOTHER.
    FOCUS PEOPLE! FOCUS!

the scary thing is Moore actually believes this stuff and he has $14 million worth of people that blindly follow. I guess that what you get when you get indoctrinated to the evils of capitalism throughout school. When you finally go out to make a living and support a family you realize what a bunch of crap the liberal agenda teaches.

  14. 14

If he wouldve stopped while he was ahead then he wouldnt be the movie maker he is. I doubt he cares about returns like that. Everyone is not a money grubbing whore like Maria.

You make so many fucking stupid remarks about people giving up, so I will make one for you you should give up on life and quit while you are ahead.

  15. 15

I never even heard of this documentary, ah well, I can do without mr. Moore.

  16. 16

    NO!

Michael Moore's messages are very important!!

I don't understand why the general public is losing interest!

  17. 17

    Mr Moore;
Are the new & numerous Militia Groups today's KKK???????????

  18. 18

I just find him to be a big fat idiot with an over-blown ego.

  19. 19

just saw it last night! Ahhhh…..perez whoever you have writing for you lately is a bigger asshole than you. Michael Moore!!! IS AWESOME. Yes, 14 million is A LOT for a documentary, and Yes, Michael Moore is not doing this to become rich. UM, maybe, see the movie and you won't feel compelled to write such bullshit. You guys are clearly running out of steam. To dis, Michael Moore, who is selling propaganda but who LOVES this country and its people. ALL OF THEM. Tsk…Tsk…why don't you pick on someone who deserves it. You're lame.

  20. 20

i find it so sad that people in the US just don`t realise that the glory days of capitalism, free market, freedom of speech and "west vs east", are really over. The US has so many heart breaking faults (for example, biggest drug consuming market in the world), and i applaud people like Michael Moore who question that so called "land of the free, all good over here", image that is suppose 2b "the land of the free", after the 2nd world war…he shows things that nobody would ever have dreamed of outside of the US and got an oscar for that…he´s not a blockbuster generating uterus…he exposes what he sees and thats that…stop hating!

  21. 21

Re: Kodes100 – Most of America is too stupid to be bothered watching a documentary as important as this one. They want Family Guy, beer and internet porn.

  22. 22

Re: Justsomeguy – you are a fraud for actually taking your time to register you`re self to capitalisms latest major money genereting invention thus far (the Internet!), only to spew haterade towards people with more profound messages than what you actually have to deliver…dumb ass!Nobody knows you, stop trying!

  23. 23

Go Michael! What I love best is the people he pisses off.

  24. 24

Of course the same could be said about you. The failed book, the failed Cocoperez site, the failed concert tour, etc, etc.

  25. 25

Not many people wants to see a serious movie that's going to make them think, much less a movie that pretty much tells the person watching it that because you want to live like a pig and have as many material possessions as possible, all at the lowest price possible, the economy is fucked, the rich have all the money now and they're not giving it back, the poor in other countries have all the jobs now, and now you're fucked. Duh.

  26. 26

    Couple things:
    A. I think the general public is over talking about the economy and pointing fingers. No more complaining, more action.
    B. I think most people are starting to wise-up to his "half-truths"… ( regardless if your liberal or conservative) And doing their own research.
    C. The movie probably took maybe 25 grand to make? Including his and his 5 man camera crew hotel stays and dinner write-offs….so, 14 million is quite good.

  27. 27

Ugly fat bastard is reaping the benefits of capitalism. I think this bastard needs to move to a communist country and see how well his movies against the the system and against the government or leader goes over. I can not wait for his slow demise.

  28. 28

michale moore is a legend. love all his movies. better than 2012 despite the lower boxoffice figure

  29. 29

HAAA HAAA HAAAA!!! what a stupid Commie fuck piece of shit, Obama's election is the worse thing that could have happened to this piggie! he better pray for a Republican President in 2012 for a so called career revival

Actually, it's quite funny nowadays b/c I do remember when his movies were a bigger deal. I work at a theater as one of my jobs and when asked what the movie was about when we were still playing it, I'd start off by saying "It's the Michael Moore movie about…" then get cut off by a customer saying "Oh, no, nevermind" and end up moving onto the next. Oh well. It wasn't half bad but a doc is a doc.

  31. 31

Well compared to the previous films, this one was released during a recession.

  32. 32

Am I the only one that finds that really ironic??

  33. 33

And that's why twinkies and ho-hos are bad for you. If he lost some weight, shaved, and stopped dressing like a slob, it would be easier to not have a knee-jerk "this fuckwad doesn't know what he's talking about" reaction. Wouldn't work for Mario, though.

  34. 34

Re: Carlena – Nope. It's pretty funny on more than one level. He probably should've released it for free on the Internets like he did with "Slacker Uprising" or whatever it was called a year or so ago.

If Americans were smart enough to go see his movie, there probably wouldn't have BEEN a meltdown. (It wasn't a meltdown.)

Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – AT LEAST HE WOULD HAVE FREE HEALTH CARE ASSHOLE. WHY DON'T YOU GO LIVE IN A COMMUNIST COUNTRY AND THEN MAYBE YOU WILL HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO SPEW INSTEAD OF BULLSHIT!
