Jennifer Hudson Is Winnie Mandela

jenniferwenn5373394.jpg

We think someone is gunning for another Oscar!

It has just been announced that Jennifer Hudon will be appearing in the new biopic Winnie, which follows the life of the former wife of Nelson Mandela.

It's sure to be a rather heavy viewing and when asked about accepting the role, Jennifer replied:

“I was compelled and moved when I read the script. Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”

For those of you who don't know, Winnie Mandela was just as much a fighter against apartheid as Nelson is. She too was jailed for her campaigning, but it was her association with a man who murdered a 14-year old alleged informant that ultimately shattered her good name.

There, a history lesson for the day. Now, you can skip school if you want.

Do U think U will see this movie?

There are much blacker allegations against Winnie Mandela than the fluffy mess you just wrote

    2. 2

I think Jennifer is a great choice for the role. I hope the movie does well.

    3. 3

I bet it'll be good! But sad.

    4. 4

      obviiiiiiiii
      loves jhudd

    5. 5

Good for Jennifer. Sounds like a challenging & meaningful role

    6. 6

      I didn't think Perez did history??! :L

For sure will NOT watch this movie. Except maybe to see how many lies the writer could come up with. She herself is known to have been involved in many murders and violent crimes. PFFFF.
And I still don't understand the whole Nelson Mandela is a saint bull.
He planted bombs at schools and malls (killed many innocent people). All this fake bull is pathetic.
Oh, and a comment about racism. If the next president of the USA is white, can we all please celebrate and make a big deal out of a "white president" winning. HA. We'd be crucified. But saying "america's black president"… that's acceptable. confusing as hell.

      GOOD GOD….MORE APES !

    9. 9

allegations? she made a public speech in a rally after her group necklaced that 14 year old boy in which she held up a pack of matches and said "With our matches and our necklaces, we will liberate South Africa". the mandelas were radicals who killed so many innocent people, young and old. despite how awful apartheid was, the country was a lot better off before it ended. the country is now in shambles, with no economy or health care system, with political leaders who ignore the aids crisis and claim you can cure it with carrot stew.
for such a liberal person perez, you should really get your facts straight.

    10. 10

and for those of you who don't know, "necklacing" is when someone stacks tires on you and lights them on fire, burning you alive.

    11. 11

Why not wait for the movie to come out before jumping to conclusions about bias. JH's been thru a hell of a lot of pain- give her a chance folks.

    12. 12

love her! will definitely see this movie

    13. 13

oh shush perez you know you looked that up on wikipedia before this post.

    14. 14

This women (winnie) is a terriost just like Madela… such bullshit! How many people have these two killed? Dankie!

    15. 15

Haha … nice to see we still have so many apologists for apartheid around. If it were up to you assholes, we'd still have slavery too.

      Wikipedia:
Stompi Moeketsi was kidnapped on 29 December 1988 after a school rally, accused of being a police informer and murdered at the age of 14. His body was found in Soweto with his throat slit. Jerry Richardson, one of Winnie Mandela's bodyguards, was convicted of the murder. He claimed that she had ordered him to abduct four young men from Soweto, of whom Stompie was the youngest. The four were severely beaten and Stompie's lifeless body was later recovered by the police. In 1991, Winnie Mandela was convicted of kidnapping and being an accessory to assault, but her six-year jail sentence was reduced to a fine and a 2 year suspended sentence on appeal.

And Hollywood wants to make her out to be some kind of a hero. It's disgusting.

    17. 17

Perez…come on…you are smart…write with knowledge…check your facts…I expect more out of you! It was not only by association…Winnie was held responsible for ordering gross acts of violence. Love ya!

    18. 18

Seriously!?! Winnie Mandela was notorious for the trouble she caused. The only time the Watercannons came out in our town was when she was here doing a rally cause all the locals hated her and her mafia supporters so much they'd throw rocks at her.

We will love Nelson Mandela forever -but there's a reason he divorced her and it wasn't to do with being separated by prison, it was the person she became and the things she did in his name.

    19. 19

how bout she dumped her husband nelson mandella went he got out of prison and got a bad name..winnie was not a great person.nelson was the hero…………

    20. 20

Freedom you've celebrated whites being President for 43 years. Asshole. And why would people make a big deal about it now after winning 43 times dummy.Mr tibbles stop being a racist loser. You probably look like an ape yourself. You wish you were black and strong instead of crazy and suicidal. Shut TF up! As for Winnie if she was a bad person they'll put it in the movie. It might be like the last king of Scotland who knows.she probably was a badass and that's why she was dumped. Jennifer is awesome. She'll do a great job.

    21. 21

      She's still a lard ass.

I think Jennifer is a bad choice, when i saw here small role in SATC i think she was awful and even in dreamgirls (although she sang beautifully) I don't even think she deserved the first oscar. There are many black actresses which would do justice for the role, the girl who was in doubt (sorry forgot her name) would be splendid for the role.

Don't be ridiculous. You should know the 1st of everything always goes in the history books. The 1st man to walk on the moon, the 1st shuttle, the 1st tranist system, the 1st president, the 1st airplane, the 1st of whatever. This year it so happens that the 1st black american president was elected into the White House. It's history! I'm sure they have the 1st KKK Grand Wizard is in there somewhere too. It's all history!!!! Why are you so offended?

    24. 24

After reading all the comments on here… I will see this movie. Sounds like it's going to create alot of controversary, but I love Jennifer…such a strong women!

    25. 25

Jennifer was good in Dream Girls but not good in Sex and the City. We'll see how she does. I think she'll need a good acting coach and a great director to pull this off.

    26. 26

      lol cheers Perez.

      Re: gravytoot – dick

    28. 28

Maybe Charlize Theron should glamorize the Klu Klux Klan….Winnie Mandela is the wifey of the devil himself….maybe JHud should go to South Africa and mingle with the peeps ..mmm like maybe in Kwa-Zulu Natal where her henchmen raped mothers and grandmothers in front of the children in order to get the ANC vote in…. mmmmm think again JHud… imagine if you were Stompie's mom….maybe that would be a role that you should play….

Stompi Moeketsi was murdered by Winnie Mandela and here 'Football team'. she is an evil bitch.
she has also been convicted of fraud and corruption.

    30. 30

To all the bigotted racists who seem to know a hell of a lot about our history, I suggest you get your facts straight.
In what way is our country, South Africa, better now than during apartheid?
Is it because now, blacks are no longer segregated, is it that the cowardly expats who have left the country under the guise of crime have told how run down the country is? I say it is nothing more than a way to justify their decisions to leave the country of their birth.
Mandela was a man who peacefully and succesfully oversaw the transition of governments in 1994. It was completely violence free. He was not a terrorist nut a freedom fighter, opposing the evils of aprtheid. For those yanks that are computer literate google aprtheid south africa.
      Dam fools.

    31. 31

Jennifer Hudson was in one shitty movie and suddenly she's cast in a significant biopic? Foul.

    32. 32

Re: Sbonelo – Actually the transition was not peaceful at all. Where were you during Mandela's release? On his actual appearance there was looting, gun fire and eventual black on black hate crimes. And actually, yes he was a freedom fighter, and by no means by protest alone. Apartheid's evil cannot be disputed, but does violence ever equate peaceful protests? No.
It depends on your personal judgment, do you support what the IRA did? If you were a national loyalist then of course you would.
Is SA better off now? No. Equal rights to all? I don't think so, not when you look at the disastrous lack of housing, medical care, lack of corrupt free policing, poor states of roads, millions of millions of Rands spent on building roads for the World Cup Soccer when so many countless people are left in dismal states of housing. Lack of jobs. Weak economy. Etc.
Is apartheid the answer, of course not. But the state of SA is by no means ideal.
