Palin Upset Over Cover Photo

Filed under: Politik > Sarah Palin

palincover.jpg

Sarah Palin is seeing red and it has everything to do with this latest photo.

Newsweek has placed Palin on its cover sporting some tiny running shorts and a tight red top. The photo was actually taken by photographer Brian Adams for Runner's World and was published this past August.

But Palin's clearly upset that Newsweek decided to publish the shots, calling the cover sexist.

She's especially upset that it was published without permission and against the contract which stated the photos were under embargo for one year following publication. So they wouldn't be able to get published until August 2010.

Palin took to her Facebook account and wrote the following:

The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness - a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context.

A rep for Runner's World reveals, "Runner's World did not provide Newsweek with its cover image. It was provided to Newsweek by the photographer's stock agency, without Runner's World's knowledge or permission."

As for Newsweek, their spokesperson admits, "We purchased the photo from an agency and were not aware of any issues with it."

So the question still remains, who sold the photo and was the contract violated?

But please, we don't buy that Palin's upset over the cover. We hate admitting this, but we bet she knows she looks hot in that photo!

The photo might be out of context, but do U really think it's sexist?

She could give a less shit about the picture. She's pissed at the caption!

    2. 2

Sarah, seriously, stop playing the sexist card. You can't make a big deal over the fact that your a woman, and your somewhat good looking with a good body, and then complain when others pick up on the fact.

    3. 3

The cover is perfect! She posed for it. It is not photo shopped. Call the waaaaambulance for the poor little victim Sarah.
She is just pissed because the image of her shaming the flag is once again out there in the public eye.

    4. 4

How much more of this stupid cvnt do we have to endure???

    5. 5

Would they put a picture of Obama taken of him during his drug-addled college days looking like a pimp on the cover or would they pick one of him in a suit?????? It's totally an attempt to diminish the woman. Pitiful…

    6. 6

      what's in her hand?

    7. 7

I couldn't agree less with almost everything that comes out of that woman's mouth.

But I will that they should have known better than to publish this without her permission and without looking into the copyright issues. Seriously, how retarded are they?

And I truly think that she desperately wants to be taken seriously. This cover really is objectifying her and no woman, no matter how much any one person disagrees with her, deserves to be objectified and not taken seriously just because of her gender.

    8. 8

When will she just GO AWAY???

    9. 9

      No, it's not sexist.
Sarah is building an empire on the "I'm a woman going rogue" thing.
      This photo fits that persona.

    10. 10

      not bad for 45…

    11. 11

palin has an unfortch habit of coveting double-standards and then decrying them… she wants to pimp out her family for her image, but no one better talk about them at ALL. she wants to be taken seriously as a politician, and yet can't handle press/basic political functions. this is the same thing: she pimps out and uses her beauty, and yet when it's acknowledged, as in this cover photo, that it's a big part of her appeal ~ b/c let's face it, it's not her brains ~ she is crying "sexism". and can we talk about the patriotic pr0n that is the american flag "casually draped" over the back of the chair there? she's a big ol' mess, and if she wants to be taken seriously, maybe she should try actually offering substance rather than fluff and face.

    12. 12

Newsweek is trying to discredit her as a politician by portraying her in a sexist manner. Liberals are rabid over her popularity and trying to hurt her, with the help of the government-run media. Did Chris Matthews feel a thrill run up his leg when he saw this photo?????

    13. 13

old news. yahoo already ran this story like 3 days ago

    14. 14

Yes, it's sexist. Now picture Hillary, or Nancy, or Michelle writing a book on a serious matter, and then having the media report the book's substance accompanied by its author in this type of gear. Many say it's just entertainment and that she is fair game to attack. I've lost all respect for reports that are so blatantly slanted. We have become a very nasty, hateful world. Many journalists are just name- calling bullies who just happen to hide behind words and pictures.

    15. 15

That's tina fey in a spoof done months ago
      You are so late Perez

    16. 16

Bitch should shut up and stop making herself look like an ass.

    17. 17

Agree the caption is the issue… Ouch!!!!

    18. 18

I'm a true blue democrat, but I do agree that this is a sexist move by Newsweek. There are shirtless photos of Obama, but they would never dare put that on their cover. It trivializes her because she is a woman. Her gender shouldn't be what trivializes her, her stupidity and incompetence gets that job done on its own.

    19. 19

I'm not sure it's "sexist," but I bet they wouldn't put a casual/unprofessional picture of Hillary on the cover with an unrelated story. I think the right word is "inappropriate."

    20. 20

Sarah Palin sez: "…it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin." But, by their sexual orientation is ok. ppffttt! She's a twit. Pretty but vacant twit.

    21. 21

Of course it's sexist. Sarah Palin is a strong figure head, and instead of giving her a photo that shows her strength, the magazine deminishes her power, and shows her in short shorts, posing like a fucking idiot. The photo was perfectly fine for an athlete magazine or whatever it was, but NOT news week.
This wouldn't happen to a man; would Obama be on the cover with his beach body, striking a pose?- hell freaking no.
I hate Sarah Palin, and I hate feminist women who find problems with everything, but I can agree, this cover is just beyond ridiculous.

    22. 22

Re: AliciaMay – They didn't put that picture on the front of Newsweek, because she is good looking. They did it because she looks like a fool in that runners outfit… like some dumb sexed up woman politician. She is obnoxious as hell, but it's still freaking sexist.

    23. 23

Santa Sez: ho…Ho…HO! HEY BITCH, I'M TALKIN' TO YOU!

    24. 24

could someone please explain the situation? i dont really undertand:S

    25. Pibb says – reply to this

      25

Fuck yes it's sexist! What does her being an advocate for running have to do with her political stance in a political magazine? It's an obvious attempt to demean her by using an out of context photo she took for a fitness article. Typical liberal news media. If they had an article regarding Obamas politics they wouldn't dare put up a photo of him working out or playing basketball.

    26. SuzyP says – reply to this

      26

I am NOT a fan of Sarah Palin by any means….I actually strongly dislike and disagree with her and politics BUT it does appear a bit sexist. Just my opinion.

    27. 27

      Re: Muskratlove
The only person hurting her its herself!!
If her goal was to be an influencial political figure, then why pose like this. It's all about image and she' playing the cards to her own benefit. The best thing the GOP can do right now is try to distance themself from her, She is not the face of conservatives if anything she's an embarresment to any woman who ever fought for woman rights in the history of this country.

    28. 28

I love how she is defending acceptance of people and telling people not to be prejudiced. But doesn't she want homosexual marraige banned? PREJUDICED HYPOCRITE

    29. 29

I'm no Sarah Palin fan (not in the least), but I think they should have chosen a more professional photo. Yes, she posed for the photo, but it was for Runner's World, not a news magazine. With the subject line and choice of photos, I guess we know how the folks at Newsweek feel about Sarah Palin.

    30. 30

She'd be a great weather gal on CBC - myopic and ditzy - good fit

    31. 31

It's sexist because it is not in the right context NEWSWEEK is suppose to be a SERIOUS PUBLICATION (SIC) But it's great because she drives all you libs nuts and you women are jealious because SHE IS SO HOT!!!

    32. 32

NO. not sexist. the picture is funny: if a man had his picture taken in running shorts and a news magazine wanted to use the campy picture, they would. She should have thought about how the picture could be used before she let them take it.

    33. 33

Sarah Palin posed for the picture so she shouldn't be upset that it was used.

    34. 34

I am NOT a fan of Ms. Sarah Palin.

But I don't think Newsweek should have used that photo.

I don't think the Washingtonian should have used the photo of President Obama without his shirt either.

    35. 35

the use of the photo in this context is an attempt to demean her by showing her as some sort of frivilous vixen. they would not do a cover of a male politician in his running clothes or underwear, so by that definition, yes it is sexist. it's clear what the intent of the cover is when you read the total hatchet-job of an article. there's just some people who cannot stand to see a happy, average american woman who weilds political power.

    36. 36

I'm not a fan, but check out those calves!

    37. 37

I get so livid when I see this woman that I forget about all the greedy Upper East Siders making $$$'s foreclosing on all the homes in my neighborhood.

    38. 38

      Ahhhh, FUCK HER already !!!
Can't she get shot already or something ?!?!

    39. 39

      i hate her
      but it is sexist

    40. 40

Can't Cheney and her go moose hunting or something, and he peppers her in the face or something already ?!?

    41. 41

      This is old news

    42. 42

It absolutely is sexist. Newsweek is considered a serious and respected news magazine and I don't think they would ever put a male on the cover in their workout gear. While I think the cover is beautiful it mocks her and tries to undermine her credibility. There is an underlying agenda there and I think Newsweek used it in poor taste.

    43. 43

Um yeah the dumb bitch posed for the pic, so you can't complain if you were fine taking the pic in the first place

    44. 44

Re: Irvinegirl – Thank You. Well said!

    45. 45

      Palin 2012 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      Takin' America back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    46. 46

Why is this woman still being talked about… I thought for sure she would have been swept under some dark ass conservative rug after the elections. She is an embarrasment!

    47. 47

I am a Democrat and I still think this is SEXIST!

    48. 48

She's got to stop crying the sexist card.

She should stop her whining and be glad that she could land a magazine cover and be such a ditz.

    49. 49

If she doesn't like it then she shouldn't have posed for it. That's why you don't see serious politicians posing in short shorts and disrespecting the flag. She can't get past her beaury pageant days.

    50. 50

I hate the woman and I think we can all agree she's lacking in the intelligence dept. AND she's a joke, BUT this is sexist. Newsweek is a great magazine, but could they have been anymore biased? They probably didn't intend to be sexist. I think they were just trying to ridicule Palin or I guess just portray her as the joke that she is. It's obvious they don't like her. The headline by her picture makes this clear. Now I haven't read the article inside, but just by reading this headline the reader will think the magazine is not being objective. The picture is irrelevant and out of context. It doesn't go with the article. It's like putting a pic of our beloved Obama from his vacation in Hawaii on the cover with a story about his healthcare plan on the inside. When things like this it's just best to embrace it. Bitch looks good, so she should just be happy they didn't put a close up of her wrinkled, enlarged pore, mustache sporting face like Time did!

    51. 51

      Re: kissmyassobama
      Wooo Hooo !!!!
And she's going to pick Carrie Prejean as her running mate, no less.
Vote for her and what you see is what you'll get … slut daughters with cervical cancer, trailer park bastards everywhere, and christian porn stars on the disney channel !!! YAY !!!!! Only in America !!!!!!

    52. 52

Liquid teflon fills her veins, that's it!

    53. 53

Re: sticks – She is drawing big ratings on oprah and her book is selling like crazy why would she care if she got a cover on a liberal magazine? She just needs to fade away.

    54. 54

Did she decline to have her photo taken for the article?

    55. 55

Bitch shut the fuck up. You still look ugly either way.

    56. 56

What is she holding in her left hand?

    57. 57

      Can't have it both ways!
      .
Can't wait for her to try in 2012 and watch the Republican party implode, just like the McCain/Palin ticket.
      .
THE SHEBITCH WILL SINK ANOTHER SHIP!

    58. 58

UMMM, NOT SEXIST… RATHER IT SUPPOSED TO SHOW THE BIMBO THAT SHE IS. PRETTY MUCH! NEXT…

    59. 59

Re: kissmyassobama – YA, RUN SARAH! THE JOKES JUST KEEP ON COMIN! LIKE CARRIE PRAJEAN! WHOO HOO! RUN SARAH RUN. SEE SARAH RUN.
      .
      SEE SARAH FAIL! LOVES IT!

    60. 60

Totally sexist. And I loathe Sarah Palin.

    61. 61

      Hottest grandmother EVER!!!!!!

    62. 62

Well well well. Look who's a feminist all of a sudden.

*sound of a thousand eyes rolling*

    63. 63

I don't like her at all, but it is totally inappropriate and sexist to put a well known female in public service (well, at least she was…and that is why she's on the cover) wearing short shorts by a flag–it sort of reminds me of one of those old playgirls with the naked guy holding a hammer..of course, that is playgirl so whatever but Sarah Palin, as unqualified as I think she is, was running for vp not too long ago.

    64. 64

I hate Sarah Palin and think she is a prime example of what is wrong with American parents today. But this cover is extremely sexist and I agree with her.

    65. 65

      LOVE IT !!!!

    66. 66

ShoeWhore U must B 1 of those fat ugly libs who can't takt it. Suck it up and take it like a douche. Rosie is looking 4 1 LOL

    67. 67

Re: ShoeWhore – Haters are going to be crying when she runs and WINS in 2012!! Oh hell yeah!!!!! People are already fed up with Obamas inadequacy!! She could beat him and the dems know it! Its why they try to smear her endlessly! Its going to be exciting!!!

    68. 68

Re: La Kate – Lacking in intelligence!! hahahahaha!! What a laugh!! She could out think YOU AND Nobama!!

    69. 69

      PALIN 2012

    70. 70

Re: kissmyassobama – YAY !!! She'll win and kiss your cold sore and make it better I guess. And then what is she going to do once she wins? Ever think about that? I'm guessing it's a lot of the same ole shit that caused Obama to do the same ole shit, and every disses everybody.
Never vote on allegiances because you'll only get what you pay for , and if you don't see that, you're as good as dead already.

    71. 71

Thanks for not ripping on Palin for once…she does look nice but a woman should not be objectified like this if she does not want to be…it's hard enough for women to be taken seriously in Washington DC without being objectified.

    72. 72

"She's bad news for the GOP - and for everybody else, too."
What in the hell kind of caption is that from a "news" magazine? I bought her book just to support her against this shitstorm of abuse coming from the left. Liberals are toxic waste.

    73. 73

I guess she has a valid point… but I still think she's dumber than a loaf of bread! I especially like the subtitle "She's bad news for the GOP - and for everbody else, too." Lmao it's funny coz it's true!!! Keep that woman far, faaaar away from politics!

    74. 74

I honestly thought this was a joke or something when I saw this on the front cover of Newsweek but then I realized it wasn't.

    75. 75

Re: kissmyassobama – Lmao delusional much? Get with reality, man! Sarah's is just as unfit to be President of this country as Bush was. He drove us into the shithole we're in now, and Obama has to clean up his fucking mess. Let her run, I'm not worried at all! It would make it that much easier for Obama to get reelected. A recent survey shows that 70% of Americans say Palin is not qualified for the job as President, and I doubt that's gonna change in the next 2 years. Unless scientists come up with some brain enhancement device, she's a hopeless case!

    76. 76

it's newsweek. now….where are those REMARKABLE newsweek covers of our fearless leader barack? or michelle with her WONDERFUL arms and oh those stylish clothes of hers. yes, this magazine isn't biased now is it?

    77. 77

yeah..she has a prob with the caption.

For such a self promoting so-called American…does she not recognize that the photo is a complete disrespect for the flag being draped and leaned on like that??

      She is a such a complete moron…..

      78

    79. 79

Newsweek is a bunch of f'ing idiots!! I can so imagine them putting that dumb ass Michelle Obama on the cover with the caption of how she bad for everybody! No, all they talk about are her "guns" of arms. The woman is hideous looking and all we hear is how beautiful she is! Sarah Palin is a REAL person not some fake dumb ass who was not proud of her country until they elected a black man

    80. 80

She needs to stop playing the sexist card! As a feminist, it detracts from the real issues. The media doesn't hate you for being a woman, it's because you're a moron sweetheart.

      .
WHINE WHINE WHINE……that's all this woman does! NEVER TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING!!!! NOT EVER HER DAUGHTERS PREGNANCY! SHE WAS TO BUSY JOGGING TO NOTICE HER DAUGHTER WAS FUCKING HER BRAINS OUT!

    84. 84

It IS SEXIST!! Palin made a mistake when she posed for Runner's World in her running shorts. She should have put on running pants. I have seen this photograph photo shopped ever since it came out in Running World. Running World should sue Newsweek and let Sarah stay out of it.

    85. 85

Yes…its very sexist….Sadly I agree with Sarah Palin (I never thought I would utter those words)

    86. 86

How funny, she posed for the damn thing and is now saying it's sexist. What a fucking moron!

    87. 87

Re: blsdjan – 84 EXCUSE ME, but she was wearing shorts, jogging around the other day on TV, on a clip shown during the Oprah interview, IN ALASKA! IN NOVEMBER!
      Admit it, she's insane!

    88. 88

It's so sexist! People, especially woman who do not realize this are really fucking themselves over. When people are threatened by a powerful woman, she is portrayed as either a power hungry bitch (Hillary Clinton) or a sexy dumb bimbo (Sarah palin). Those in the Newsweek "all boys club" are shooting themselves in the foot - this will backfire!

    89. Moron says – reply to this

      89

Re: el polacko – I agree with you, except for the fact that there is nothing average about Sarah Palin. She was a twice elected governor of Alaska, hardly an accomplishment of an average person. She is smart, powerful and beautiful, and that is exactly why they are afraid of her. Unfortunately the average woman is really really stupid, and cannot see that the power-that-be don't want a woman in power and used all their dirty tricks to poison her image, and are still doing it. They will do the same to any woman that tries to get "there". Obama was (and still is) an incompetent, inexperienced moron, a lot less inexperienced than Palin was a year ago, but somehow they made women buy into the crap that Palin didn't deserve to be vice-president,because of experience and other shit.
Women, wake the fuck up! You don't have to agree with all the views of a candidate. We've always had plenty of incompetent, morons, amoral, dirty male politicians, there is no reason why we couldn't have female politicians with the same attributes. Obviously we want our politicians to have higher standards, and I think Palin has. Make no mistake about it,they are afraid of her. I'm no republican, but I'm voting for Palin in 2012, and if you are smart, you girls will too. I'm waiting to see a picture of nObama in shorts and shirtless on the cover of a magazine .

    90. 90

Re: SWEETPIECE! – Uhh she was wearing shorts in that Oprah story because she was going to the gym. Did you prefer she wore a burka or ski suit to spin class? You are such a bias stupid bitch!

    91. 91

      Re: Irvinegirl
I think it was tacky of Newsweek to use this cover, but your analogy is ridiculous. Palin clearly posed for this picture thinking it made her look appealing. She wanted it published, just not in this venue. This was not some random college shot of her taken without her knowledge or consent. She diminishes herself by doing photo shoots in shorts for trade publications like Runner's World when she claims to want to be taken for a serious politician.

    92. 92

Re: greenandnavy – She's the one who agreed to (and was paid for) posing like a 'fucking idiot'in shorts with a flag thrown over the back of a chair like some sort of large sweat towel. I think Newsweek diminished themselves by choosing this for the cover, because it is idiotic and sexist, but Palin is not an innocent victim in this. Her Runner's World spread was just plain tacky and now it's coming back to bite her.

    93. 93

      Hey SARAH PALIN: F U C K O F F.

    94. 94

Re: GusOfSF – You agree that it's sexist and then turn around and call Hillary a "stupid bitch"? LOL - must be hard to think with all those marbles rolling around between your ears.

    95. 95
