Now, don't get us wrong! We are a firm believer in the seksi that is Johnny Depp, but we thought R-Patz had it in the bag for 2009.
Depp, who is now a repeat honoree, is one hawt poppa, family man, franchise star and an all-around interesting guy who always opts for the unconventional. So much so that he probably doesn't care about being the Sexiest Man Alive!

Robert doesn't come close to Johnny Depp. Robert isn't even attractive. Something about him just grosses me out. Johnny Depp however, he IS the sexiest man alive. The only reason why people are even mentioning Robert Pattinson is because of the horrendous franchise known as Twilight. Twilight is a phase, and it will be over in, I'm going to guess, three years. Johnny Depp will always be around, for he is no phase.

wow–as far as i'm concerned he shoulld win it every year. i saw him in person when he was filming public enemies. not only is he gorgeous he is so nice and very polite. he really acts like his fans are important to him. one of his body guards was yelling at the crowd to get back–he kept yelling it and johnny said to him–you don't have to do that. so cool. he did not want the body guard yelling at his fans!! and aren't his eyes just beautiful?
No offense to anyone but People did the right thing by NOT giving the cover to R-Patz; R-Patz is more trendy right now because of the Twilight Series. I love Johnny Depp but he's had the cover more than once now so i feel like he was a safe choice. I would've much rather seen Gerard Butler grace the cover, personally, but I do understand not everyone finds him to be as devastatingly yummy as I do. Christian Bale would've been a fantastic choice, too. So many gorgeous british men to choose from…at least it wasn't Brad Pitt or George Clooney again.

Yes, he deserves the title. For a man nearly twice the age of his competitors, speaks volumes. Not to mention, he has stood the test of time. RPatz is gorgeous, no doubt, but Johnny will always be so damn sexy because he is, as you mentioned, so unconventional; quirky. His looks are so dark and mysterious. When you couple this with the fact he's an amazing humanitarian - humble and always willing to help others, it's a no brainer. PS ~ My best friend went to a huge autograph signing Johnny did when the first Pirates of the Caribbean flick came out and he said Johnny stayed and signed every single autograph till the wee hours of the morning. Every single one and there were thousands of people there. That's a man dedicated to his fans. He's not a dick like some other actors. His nose is never down on the outcast - the odd people. He's real and genuine. I can't wait to see him in The Tourist with Angelina. Oh good god - that will be hot, hot, hot!
