Burn! You must have really pissed someone(s) off at the Academy, Michael Moore.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has just released their short list of contenders for this year's Oscar's Best Documentary category.
A noticeable name absent who had a huge profiled documentary this year was Moore! No word if Michael pulled the same crap he did a few years back and insist the film, Capitalism: A Love Story, only be considered in the Best Picture category.
But either way, he isn't getting an invite to the shindig this year!

Michael Moore is a freaking joke! His "documentaries" are works of fiction.
Bout time the Academy finally realized it.
For someone who's anti-capitalism he sure has made alot of money in a capitalistic society. Hypocrite.
Brilliant!! Michael, keep up the excellent work. And, I'm sure a fancy nomination or invitation from the Academy isn't important to him.
I USED to love Michael Moore until I found out his compassion DOESNT extend to animals!! He literally has it out for peta and flaunts eating steak and looking like a total fucking pig!!! Too bad his compassion only runs skin deep! He bit the wrong hands with that one! If that isn't screwing over a big part of your audience, I don't know what is! Sucks to be you fat ass Mike!

Yeah, he pissed off the CEOs and Board of Directors of GM, Chrysler, AIG, and the big banks. He said in the one scene,"I want to make a citizen's arrest of the board of directors of AIG.". They probably made sure that he didn't get nominated. Money talks, BS walks. But he should have been nominated. He exposed the reasons why we are in this economic mess.
It doesn't suck too bad, dumb ass, he's already got an Oscar. How many do you have?

The film was almost universally panned. His "expert" that talked about econ was Wallace Shawn, for God's sake. Wallace. Shawn. It packed none of the punch that "Roger and Me" or "Bowling for Columbine" did. Those were actually interesting and informative. After that, he went downhill.

I understood why he did that with the Best Picture thing. If big rotten special-effects fluff movies are considered, and now routinely nominated, in that category, why not docs? I think it was an embarrassment for the Academy to admit how meaningless it's all become. Soap-box pieced ended.

That's really unfortunate - when so much other crap takes up SO much time on the Academy awards… People doing REAL interesting work should be honoured!!
Really? I have no clue why you would ever diss this man. He speaks for the majority of America. The one's who don't have millions of dollars and know what it feels like to lose their job or make minimum wage. how do you know he's not getting an invite? he's an academy award WINNER (best documentary 2002, bowling for columbine) and fahrenheit 9/11 is still the highest grossing documentary of all time…
even if you don't like michael moore, it's pretty brainless to say that the most well-known, oscar-winning documentary filmmaker of our time is not going to get invited to the oscars–just because he wasn't nominated.

If Mikey couldn't use creative edits, tell half truths, fudge the numbers or just out right lie, his movies might be legit. As they are though, they should just be passed on altogether…. why anyone takes the dude serious is beyond me. Do us all a favor and open your eyes to the real world. Maybe he was snubbed because he doesn't make documentaries. Most of what he puts in his films is fiction or distortion.
The great thing about Michael Moore's work is that it stands on its own.
He has enough bank that he doesn't have to make a bundle, so he can be honest;
but he was honest with his views from his poorer beginnings.
